In the Apocalypse, After Hoarding Supplies, They Teamed Up with a Powerful Figure and Went on a Killing Spree

106: Chapter 106 Xiao Lang Joins, Reunited with an Old FriendXiao Lang carried a large military backpack and hurried down the mountain.

Qi Yin did not get out of the car, and Xiao Sinian did not start the car either; both seemed to be tacitly waiting for him to run over.

Xiao Lang stopped outside her car window. He seemed to have run very urgently, his hands resting lightly on his knees, gasping for breath.

Qi Yin raised an eyebrow. ”Do you have something to say?”

Xiao Lang’s face was somewhat pale, his eyes red, as if he had cried.

”Um, Miss Qi, although I know the chances are slim, I still want to ask, can I go to the base with you all?”

Qi Yin crossed her arms, thinking about when they joked around earlier, didn’t Xiao Lang firmly reject her proposal? Why did he suddenly change his mind now?

”Oh? What about your old mother?”

In a single-parent family, having depended on each other for so many years, Xiao Lang wouldn’t give up on his mother easily, otherwise, he wouldn’t have risked his life to call for help earlier.

She noticed that when the three words ’old mother’ were mentioned, Xiao Lang’s face seemed to turn even paler.

Sure enough, Xiao Lang gave a bitter smile. ”My mom, she died last night.”

Last night, the immobile Mother Xiao somehow pulled off her own oxygen mask. By the time he discovered it, Mother Xiao had already become a cold corpse.

Perhaps, in the netherworld, Mother Xiao didn’t want to become a burden.

They believed in burying the deceased for peace. Xiao Lang buried Mother Xiao in his own garden overnight, thinking that later, when he found enough paper money, he would burn more for her.

This sentence made Qi Yin completely speechless.

”I’m sorry.”

After all, it was someone else’s sad matter, yet she seemed to still be joking.

Xiao Lang shook his head. ”It’s okay. My mom, she probably didn’t want to drag me down either. Miss Qi, can you let me follow you?”

As he spoke, he pulled the large backpack from his back to the front and patted it. The sound of rustling packaging bags came from inside.

”Don’t worry, I will find supplies myself and won’t drag you all down.”

Qi Yin sat in the passenger seat and turned to look at the silent Xiao Sinian. As an ally, he had the right to decide whether Xiao Lang could stay.

Xiao Sinian didn’t even turn his head. ”Everything is up to you.”

He had previously conducted a background check on Xiao Lang; this person was considered credible, and his mutated Water Element Ability could be useful to a certain extent.

It wasn’t impossible for Qi Yin to keep him; taking a step back, even if Xiao Lang had ulterior motives, she could just kill him.

He said this, handing the decision-making power directly into her hands.

After all, he was someone she had taken a liking to, and since he had taken the initiative to propose it, Qi Yin naturally had no reason to refuse.

She turned her head to look at Lu Yanxiu in the back seat. ”Make some space for him.”

Immediately, she cast a casual glance at the nervous and expectant Xiao Lang. ”Get in!”

Lu Yanxiu also shouted, ”What are you stunned for? Get in, brother!”

That smiling gaze expressed welcome for Xiao Lang’s arrival.

Xiao Lang nodded repeatedly, climbed onto the off-road vehicle deftly, and joined this large team.

The convoy followed the dilapidated road all the way north, with the four vehicles maintaining absolute vigilance.

Qi Yin and Xiao Sinian took the lead. The steel bus driven by Chen Quan and Zhou Le carried Professor Zhou, the 15 members of Dr. Chen’s team, and the 10 members of Yu Wenyu’s team in the middle, with the two Qian brothers bringing up the rear.

The journey was not peaceful.

Abandoned vehicles blocked the road tightly, so they had to get out and clear them from time to time. Fortunately, there was a metal manipulator, Lu Jinwen, otherwise they would have wasted quite a bit of time on this.

Compared to this, the zombies crawling out of the ruins felt much easier for Qi Yin to deal with. A casual ice blade thrown over would kill a whole bunch immediately.

However, there were just too many of them. There was no other way; they had to stop the cars to fight the zombies and dig for crystal cores.

These zombies were all level-one ordinary zombies, which were nothing to them.

Most of the time, everyone let Qi Yin and Xiao Sinian doze off in the car, leaving the zombies for them to practice on.

Among them, the newly joined Xiao Lang, as well as Li Shi and Li Yun, were the most excited.

The two sisters followed the method Lu Jinwen told them, treating the zombies like radishes in the field.

Trying their best to overcome their initial fear, they were responsible for releasing their Supernatural Ability to soothe the zombies’ agitated emotions, while Xiao Lang seized the opportunity to deliver a fatal blow to these monsters, their coordination becoming increasingly tacit.

Seeing the sun slanting west, the light began to dim.

Qi Yin stretched and yawned, looking at the progress.

In a whole day, they had only traveled less than three hundred kilometers. Before the Apocalypse, this would have been a matter of two or three hours.

Their current location was the main road connecting Kyoto to Lin City; the road was wider, which also meant a greater possibility of encountering larger-scale zombies.

Evening was when zombies were most active, so continuing to travel was too risky.

Although everyone was no longer afraid of zombies now, long-term fighting would inevitably consume stamina. If they encountered other forces at this time, the safety of Professor Zhou and the others would be difficult to guarantee.

Qi Yin tapped the walkie-talkie. ”Stop playing. Turn right at the intersection ahead. There is a warehouse five kilometers away. Let’s spend the night there.”

By the way, she wanted to eat something; her stomach had long since started growling, but she didn’t want to eat dry snacks.

”Received, received!” The replies came from the three cars one after another.

Xiao Sinian looked at the map. ”Isn’t this another shelter you cleared before? The terrain is open and easy to defend but hard to attack; it’s a good place.”

As he spoke, he freed up a hand to hand over a small cake.

Qi Yin naturally took it and stuffed a bite in to make do.

”The place I chose, could it be bad?”

The convoy slowly approached the destination, and seeing the warehouse right in front of them.

Everyone was a bit hungry and unconsciously accelerated.

However, one kilometer away from the warehouse, Qi Yin called for a stop.

Xiao Sinian stepped on the brake. Following her gaze, he looked far into the distance. The barbed wire fence around the perimeter of the warehouse, which had been connected to high-voltage electricity, showed signs of being destroyed.

Getting closer, Qi Yin’s expression changed. Her shelter had actually welcomed a wave of ”guests.”

Lu Yanxiu stretched his neck. ”Damn, who is running wild on our turf?”

They saw more than a dozen figures shaking in front of the warehouse’s heavy rolling shutter door.

A few of them were waving iron bars and axes, banging against the door lock and the reinforced crossbar.

Even more eye-catching was that among the crowd, there were seven or eight people dressed in identical black cloaks, holding machine guns, with a style completely different from the few smashing the door.

Qi Yin narrowed her eyes. ”It’s them again.”

Xiao Sinian frowned. ”You know them?”

Qi Yin nodded. ”Yeah, I’ve met them before.”

Not only met them, but they also had a feud.

At this moment, Tian Zining was saying something to a Black-Robed Person, while Wang Hui and Wang Jianhua were also on the side, their expressions looking anxious, and they were muttering something.

”Continue forward!” Qi Yin said.

The convoy stopped a few dozen meters away from the warehouse.

Qi Yin pushed the car door open, jumped out of the car, crossed her arms, and walked slowly toward the group of people, her high ponytail swinging.

Xiao Sinian, who followed closely behind her, always felt that his Little Fiancée was probably brewing some big move again.

”Stop!”

The leading Black-Robed Person raised a hand, signaling Qi Yin to halt.

A hoarse voice came through the hood.

”We took a liking to this place first; you all should find another place!”

Xiao Sinian’s hand was already pressed on the hilt of his blade, whispering in her ear. ”This group of people is not kind; let’s just kill them.”

He was used to solving problems in the most direct way.

Qi Yin, however, gently raised her hand, pressed his wrist, and lowered her voice. ”Don’t you think teasing... old friends is quite interesting?”

Turning her head, her beautiful lips parted slightly.

”Oh? Why didn’t I know that my place had been taken a liking to by someone else?”
