Zenless Zone Zero: The Almighty Incubus of Sixth Street

[ Bonus Chapter - 100 P.S ]

The wind carried away all the words left unspoken.

Belle pulled Eous closer, pressing against the protective netting. The Bangboo raised its small hand and tied a red ribbon to the iron mesh. The crimson strip fluttered vividly in the strong breeze.

”|Master, Assistant No. 2, please allow me to offer my condolences for the dearly departed. If you wish, I can search for her name and locate it on the Monument to the Victims.|”

Fairy quietly observed the somber siblings as she spoke, her voice carrying a gentle note of comfort.

Wise remained silent for a moment before softly saying, ”Carole... Carole Arna.”

”|The name was not found in the database of victims from the Old Capital’s fall. However, one match appears in records related to that incident...|”

Fairy fell silent afterward. For her, uncovering such information required little effort, but the result she found brought no comfort.

[|Carole Arna, Senior Research Director of Helios Academy, along with others, is recorded as one of the culprits who caused Hollow Zero to spiral out of control, triggering the great tragedy of the Old Capital’s fall. Her name is forever etched upon the pillar of shame.|]

As she processed this, something faint and unfamiliar stirred within her—a budding sense of humanity she could not quite explain.

Even so, she understood that voicing it now would only deepen the wound.

”|I apologize, Master. My capabilities are insufficient. I was unable to find a matching individual...|”

”No, Fairy... you did find it, didn’t you?” Wise replied, his tone calm yet knowing.

He reached out and gently stroked Fairy’s head.

”The one officially condemned as the great sinner behind the Old Capital’s fall... Carole Arna. She was our teacher.”

”She taught us and raised us. The HDD System, Eous... all of it was her work. And on the day the Old Capital fell, she saved us too...” Belle continued, completing his thought before turning toward Fairy. ”You asked us once why we wanted to take part in the Hollow Zero investigation. This is why.”

The siblings had become Proxys to gather enough observational data, believing that one day they would be able to descend deep into Hollow Zero and reach what remained of the Helios Academy.

They were certain that if any clues still existed, they would be found there.

More than anything, they believed in their teacher. With unwavering conviction, they knew she could never have been responsible for such a catastrophe.

They would uncover the truth behind the Old Capital’s fall. They would clear her name.

To them, there was no doubt.

She was innocent.

Just as Wise was about to speak again, his expression shifted slightly. He turned his gaze toward a distant point. Beside him, Fairy’s voice followed a moment later.

”|Warning. A lifeform has been detected approaching. Cross-referencing data suggests the individual is Master’s acquaintance, previously seen at the video store...|”

”Hoshimi Miyabi? What are you doing here at this hour?” Wise called out, recognizing the presence before Fairy could finish.

The approaching figure stepped into view. It was none other than Hoshimi Miyabi, Chief of Hollow Special Operations Section 6.

”It’s me—Wise... Belle... and this unfamiliar young lady,” Hoshimi said as she walked toward them at an unhurried pace. ”I didn’t expect you to notice me first. Looks like I lost this time.”

”Huh? Lost to us? What do you mean by that?” Belle blinked, clearly puzzled.

She still hadn’t quite grasped Hoshimi Miyabi’s way of speaking, so her confusion at the odd remark was only natural.

”I’m training to be the first to arrive at the Grand Canyon Memorial. I also wanted to spend some time alone with her.”

Hoshimi Miyabi walked straight to the monument by the protective netting and gently placed her hand over one of the carved names.

Seeing this, Wise quickly understood.

”So... you came here to mourn someone as well.”

”Yes. My mother,” she replied simply.

”My condolences. I hope you can find peace soon.”

Hoshimi Miyabi listened in silence, then slowly shook her head.

”Thank you, but I’m not looking for peace.”1

A trace of coldness flickered across her expression, catching Wise slightly off guard.

”Hm? You mean... you don’t want peace?”

”That’s right. Not until every criminal and every party responsible for the Old Capital’s fall is brought to justice. Until then, peace means nothing to me.”

Her calm gaze settled on them. Deep within her crimson eyes, something burned quietly, standing in stark contrast to her composed voice.

”I will find them all. Not a single one will escape.”

Her words made Belle shiver. The weight behind them felt suffocating.

Noticing the shift in atmosphere, Wise quickly steered the conversation elsewhere. After talking a little longer, he led Belle and the others away.

By nightfall, they finally returned to the video store.

Odile and Odette had also come back from visiting their grandfather. With them around, the siblings no longer had to worry about cleaning.

After a full day of traveling, Belle was completely drained. She skipped her usual nighttime routine and went straight to bed after taking a shower.

”Wise!”

Anby, who had been waiting, immediately rushed over the moment she saw him return. Nekomata, watching from nearby, clicked her tongue at how sly that was, but quickly followed after her.

The two of them had heard the news and, by coincidence, had no missions assigned, so they came together.

Rain also happened to be free. As a top hacker, she had even canceled her plans for the night just to be there.

The others, however, weren’t as fortunate. Corin and Ellen were tied up with work. Nicole was busy with other matters, and if she wanted to deal with her debts, it would have to be done in secret, so she couldn’t exactly ”repay” him today.

As for Koleda and Qingyi, one was a company president while the other worked in public security. Having only received the news that morning, it was naturally difficult for them to free up time by evening.

Still, the rest would likely show up at the video store tomorrow. Splitting things up like this, at least, eased some of the pressure.

Of course, he wasn’t the one worried about that kind of pressure—it was his bed. There was no way it could fit that many people.

”Hm? Wise, you went to the Outer Ring this time and even brought back a pretty girl?”

Rain glanced at Fairy, who had just stepped out of the staff room. She had gone in earlier to install the HDD System, and now that she was done, she came out.

The others looked her over. With her delicate features, she didn’t resemble someone from the Outer Ring at all, but rather a refined young lady from the city.

”|Master, the installation is complete.|”

Fairy reported to Wise as if no one else were present. Hearing this, Anby and the others each reacted in their own way.

”I-It’s that kind of roleplay again, meow!” Nekomata pointed at him, her voice trembling.

”Wise... no, Master, is this what you prefer?” Anby asked calmly.

”Uh... Anby, you really don’t have to adapt that quickly...” Rain said from the side, sounding slightly incredulous.
