Zenless Zone Zero: The Almighty Incubus of Sixth Street

”Eh? Brother, you didn’t notice anything? Ah, I see... That’s probably how consciousness transfer works. What a shame. I wanted to make you feel better since you’ve been exhausted lately. I even milked you for so long, but you didn’t react at all.”

Belle looked disappointed, swallowing what was left of the milk in her mouth.

Only then did Wise understand why she hadn’t said a word from the moment his consciousness returned until now.

He hadn’t expected his usually cute sister to actually do something like that at such a moment.

Thinking this, Wise gently stroked her head and reached out to wipe the milk residue from the corner of her mouth. However, she grabbed his finger and licked it clean instead.

”Belle, you... Forget it. Zhu Yuan and the others should be back at the crime scene by now. Let’s check it out first. I’ll buy you something tasty later.”

As Wise spoke, he stood up and straightened his clothes. Belle giggled playfully, then licked the corner of her mouth.

Instead of heading out right away, Wise took a tissue and wiped Belle’s face with care before they left together.

By then, Zhu Yuan and Qingyi had already returned with the criminal. After hearing the details, the reason behind the crime sounded almost absurd.

The plan had only been to steal vehicles using an EMP emitter, but the culprit’s poor handling of it led to all kinds of unintended trouble.

It was hard to imagine that someone could possess such equipment and still limit their ambitions to car theft. With crimes like that, the criminal was doomed for life.

EMP emitters were forbidden in the city, but the criminal had access to one because he was part of a Hollow robber organization.

According to his confession, the group had been illegally making EMP emitters and even modifying vehicle security systems to make theft easier.

Hearing this, the siblings immediately felt there had to be more going on behind the scenes. Zhu Yuan and the others thought the same.

However, any further interrogation would have to wait until they returned to the Public Security Office, and the more sensitive details were not something that could be disclosed to Wise and the others.

Finally, and most importantly, just as Zhu Yuan and the team finished wrapping things up and prepared to head back to the Public Security, the residents of Six Street suddenly rushed over.

”Eh? Is there still something else everyone needs?”

Zhu Yuan felt confused by what she was seeing, though Wise wasn’t surprised at all.

”Zhu Yuan, looks like your efforts really moved the people here.”

As Wise pointed out, the residents had watched Zhu Yuan and Qingyi seriously and patiently help them deal with their problems, which deeply touched them. Feeling guilty, they apologized for their earlier remarks.

They also assured her that they would attend the Public Security promotional lecture taking place on Saturday.

Zhu Yuan was momentarily stunned by this turn of events, but she soon smiled and happily accepted the questionnaires offered by the residents.

Not long after, Zhu Yuan and Qingyi departed, and everyone else gradually left as well. By the time Wise delivered Give Change to Uncle Enzo for repairs, it was already late at night.

Feeling tired, Wise went back home, ready to rest properly. He lay down and decided he wasn’t going anywhere for the rest of the night.

This time, he planned to let Belle give him a wonderful experience, something he hadn’t truly felt before because of the consciousness transfer.

In the blink of an eye, Saturday arrived.

It was the day of the Public Security lecture, and by coincidence, the body of the Ethereal defeated by Koleda and the others from Belobog Industries was also being transported from the memorial square on the same day.

When the two arrived at the entrance of the Public Security Office, it was already crowded with residents from Six Street, many of them familiar faces.

After exchanging greetings, the siblings soon spotted Zhu Yuan and Qingyi.

”Hello, Managers.”

Qingyi noticed them first and greeted them. Wise glanced at the large gathering of residents nearby and let out a quiet sigh.

”It’s really lively today. I didn’t expect this many people.”

”That’s all thanks to the people of Six Street. Besides signing up enthusiastically, they even helped spread the word in other districts,” Zhu Yuan explained cheerfully after hearing Wise speak, her expression showing how much she enjoyed being acknowledged by the residents.

Then, without warning, Wise added another remark.

”By the way, Zhu Yuan, I heard you’ll be on stage later with Inspector Bringer to answer questions from the residents. My sister will ask you a few questions, so you won’t feel left out.”

”Eh? No way. Please, have mercy...”

Zhu Yuan’s tone was a little uncertain, and her expression showed clear embarrassment. Seeing this, the siblings felt slightly puzzled.

At that moment, Qingyi, standing to the side, explained, ”You don’t know, do you? Zhu Yuan is terrible with occasions like this. She’s already drunk three pots of my tea just to make sure she won’t get nervous and start coughing later.”

Qingyi’s explanation only made Zhu Yuan more embarrassed, but she couldn’t argue with it. She honestly couldn’t deal with situations like these.

Before anyone could say anything else, another Officer came over.

”Sorry for interrupting your conversation with the guests. This is the report that just came in. The specific coordinates of several Hollow locations previously identified by Carlo Maroon have been analyzed. Please take a look.”

While speaking, he handed them the report and added that Inspector Bringer would arrive soon.

The two immediately understood they would need to go meet him. Yet when Qingyi glanced at the report, her expression subtly changed, her brows knitting together.

She had clearly noticed something off. Before Wise could ask for details, Qingyi stated that the report contained questionable points and left together with Zhu Yuan, instructing the two to head into the building first.

Watching the two depart with serious expressions, Wise and Belle both felt uneasy. This kind of abnormal situation suggested a far more serious problem than they had expected.

Moreover, the earlier discussion had mentioned the criminal who misused the EMP, prompting Wise to suggest that they quietly listen in on Zhu Yuan and the others.

What they learned was shocking. The locations identified by the criminal were all situated along the route used to transport the Ethereal body that day.

Combining this with the fact that this EMP emitter has also been specially modified to bypass vehicle security systems, and the criminal also said that their organization has purchased specialized containers for preserving Etheric material.

Even though their exact intentions were unknown, one thing was clear.

The evidence carrier transporting the Ethereal body was in danger.

As soon as she realized this, Zhu Yuan asked Qingyi where the vehicle was.

Qingyi directly accessed the information through her mechanical body.
