Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 803: Chapter 803: It’s actually you!

About the president of the Zhenbei Group’s Greater China Region, Bai Xiaosheng, even with Red Lotus as a powerful search tool, had never investigated him and even before coming here, had restrained the desire to search for related information.

Of course, there was a reason for this.

Previously, Bai Xiaosheng felt that there was a huge gap in status between them, with no point of intersection, and he was not the curious type. To him, time spent on gossip could better be spent sleeping.

Yesterday, Bai Xiaosheng really did consider searching for some information in advance to get a rough idea.

However, as soon as this thought arose, he dismissed it.

The President of the Greater China Region was an important figure on the same level as Lu Yun.

Meeting such a person face-to-face and having direct contact was in itself a valuable ”experience” or ”opportunity.”

Besides, the impressions you get of these real big shots from reports and written accounts are never the whole truth.

Bai Xiaosheng wanted to see and hear for himself, and although he might still be deceived by appearances, at least he could train his judgment and sharpen his intuition.

Insight and intuition, while seemingly nebulous, are essential for anyone who wants to succeed!

This was an opportunity Bai Xiaosheng did not want to miss!

The moment he pushed open the door to the president’s office of the Greater China Region and stepped inside, he had constructed countless images in his mind.

”Kid, you’ve arrived.” As he walked in, before Bai Xiaosheng could even see what the president looked like, he heard a familiar, friendly greeting.

This voice sounded very familiar!

Bai Xiaosheng was stunned.

”It’s you!” Once he got a clear view of the person sitting behind the desk, he was somewhat dumbfounded.

Wasn’t this the interesting old gentleman he met when he visited Linshen, Elder Xiahou Qi, who insisted on being called ”uncle” instead of ”old man” despite his age?

He could sit on the curb eating snacks, a lover of calligraphy, humorous and unconstrained by petty formalities.

He was the president of the Greater China Region!

For a moment, Bai Xiaosheng was bewildered, feeling like he had been struck by thunder, utterly flabbergasted.

”Kid, bet you didn’t expect it to be me!” Xiahou Qi saw Bai Xiaosheng’s expression and burst into laughter, ”What’s wrong, do I not look like the president of the Greater China Region?”

”Not really!” Bai Xiaosheng replied instinctively, then immediately realized it was inappropriate.

”I do!” he retorted, only to feel that this was also inappropriate, and he chuckled bitterly, ”Not at all, it’s exactly you!”

It was the first time Bai Xiaosheng felt at a loss for words.

Xiahou Qi, however, was laughing heartily, stood up from behind the desk, pointed to the sofa, and said, ”Come sit down! We haven’t seen each other in a long time!”

Bai Xiaosheng nodded and walked over.

When he reached the sofa, Bai Xiaosheng suddenly noticed several pieces of calligraphy on the coffee table, and at a glance, he recognized them as his own work, and moreover...

”This!” Bai Xiaosheng was shocked beyond words.

Weren’t these written at Master Song Kai’s birthday celebration? How did they end up with Xiahou Qi!

”Just now, I was admiring them. Your calligraphy is truly good, the more I look at it, the more I enjoy it! Don’t be surprised, Song Kai is my friend, and I was there when you celebrated his birthday,” Xiahou Qi explained.

Bai Xiaosheng stared at him, speechless.

”However, afterwards, you went on to write a lot more for that old guy, which really irritated me! I don’t care, you’re now an Affairs Officer, right under my watch. Doesn’t that mean you should give me a gift to get on my good side? If you make a mistake, I am not beyond being lenient, what do you say?”

The old man chuckled mischievously, winking.

Bai Xiaosheng fell silent for a moment, his mind involuntarily conjuring some philosophical questions, ”Who am I, where am I, what am I supposed to do”.

However, it must be said, the old man had made a good start.

When Bai Xiaosheng arrived, he wasn’t overly anxious or nervous, but he was still somewhat tense.

Yet after a few casual exchanges, that feeling quietly dissolved, and Bai Xiaosheng himself felt much more at ease, not the least bit awkward.

Bai Xiaosheng quickly realized something, ”It seems, the greater the person, the more easygoing they are, not flaunting their so-called authority. This kind of gentle ease, which nurtures without a sound, can catch people off guard, lowering their defenses and facades, revealing their true selves, and is also a great way to start an honest conversation.”

Bai Xiaosheng gained some insight.

Each encounter with a true heavy hitter gave him different epiphanies.

This was the harvest!

”Today, let’s not rush to talk about work. Come, take a look at these calligraphy pieces I’ve copied and tell me what you think.” Xiahou Qi said enthusiastically, flipping out his calligraphy works and showing them to Bai Xiaosheng.

Bai Xiaosheng took them over and scrutinized.

For someone as insanely obsessed, incredibly persistent, and also highly talented, it was very easy to reach a peak level of proficiency in something!

”Good!” Bai Xiaosheng sincerely praised.

Elder Xia’s face lit up with pleasure.

”However, your writing could be even better. For instance, here, the technique is exquisite, but you’ve applied a bit too much force, the sharpness is too pronounced, which seems inappropriate, don’t you think? And over here...”

Bai Xiaosheng casually pointed out a couple of areas. His approach was mainly to praise, supplementing it with suggestions without overly focusing on rights and wrongs, making it pleasant to hear.

Elder Xia’s gaze was fixed on the paper, pondering over it, as if he had found a treasure, his eyes shining.

The office door was knocked twice, and Wang Mubei, Xiahou Qi’s assistant, entered, carrying in his hand a can of tea leaves.

”Elder Xia said he was out of tea and asked me to fetch a can of good tea from the tea store since he was expecting a guest. But I thought, today there was only one meeting arranged, and the rest were conferences. And that one meeting was also with the new Affairs Officer reporting on his duty. Was it really necessary...” Wang Mubei was still pondering this when he came in.

After entering, he lifted his head to see a scene he wouldn’t forget.

On the sofa, a young man was holding a piece of paper, frequently explaining, while the old man listened with brightly animated eyebrows.

As if he were a student!

The sound of Wang Mubei’s entrance startled both men.

”Oh, is the tea here? Good, brew us two cups and you can leave,” instructed Xiahou Qi, before urging Bai Xiaosheng, ”Continue, please.”

Bai Xiaosheng gave Wang Mubei an apologetic smile and went on talking.

Wang Mubei brewed the tea and brought it over, hiding his surprise when he looked at Bai Xiaosheng.

This young man was teaching calligraphy to the President of the Greater China Region!

After delivering the tea, Wang Mubei tiptoed out of the room.

Bai Xiaosheng couldn’t help but glance at the door and suggested, ”Elder Xia, perhaps I should begin my report first...”

”No rush, let’s finish this discussion first. I’ll take you out for lunch at noon. Then, you can just speak casually. Anyway, I already know quite a bit about you. Whether or not you report is actually inconsequential,” Xiahou Qi said casually.

”But...” Bai Xiaosheng still felt it wasn’t quite right.

”There are no buts. Am I the president, or are you? Come on, continue!” Xiahou Qi urged.

Bai Xiaosheng had no choice but to go on.

Outside, as soon as Wang Mubei stepped out of the office, he saw Lin Ke and Feng Li walking in this direction from afar. Lin Ke was talking to Feng Li, and his voice faintly came through, ”I wonder how Bai Xiaosheng is doing in there, whether Elder Xia has given him a hard time!”

”I’m still worried!”
