Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 1155: Sustainer

A few minutes had gone by since Gerry became embarrassed by the past events. Having fully known the current cause of the mess was inadvertently committed by their Siren’s races, Gerry could only behave submissively.

Because of their race involvement, there was a ban on all Phantasm Species from accessing the Shade Island.

As for the Abyssal Eye, it remained clueless and tried to search for the elusive island for a very long time, only to no avail.

”Our Siren race was criticized and almost ostracized by all other species for the blame,” Gerry said regretfully. ”Although the fault lies in our Siren race, we still hope to resolve the issues.”

”So that’s where the Sea Heart comes from.” Xu Feng suddenly chimed in.

”That is correct, Sea Traveler.” Gerry nodded and relayed the historical events.

Because of the ban, they required the Sea Heart’s power to bypass the ban and effectively reverse the tide.

Unfortunately, the Sea Heart’s alarming power had repeated the same tragedy.

It became a source of pride and greed for those who sought to desire its power solely for themselves.

To summarize, Shade Island was the first civil war, followed by the war for the Sea Heart.

In the end, the war became a stalemate despite such a prolonged time, resulting in the decision to split the heart into multiple shards.

Each powerful affiliation would receive a shard as its keepsake.

But simultaneously, the war of greed gave rise to the lurking Abyssal Eye, which took advantage to spread out the Abyssal Tide to corrupt the entire sea.

”The Abyssal Eye’s action took us by surprise, but it didn’t get the last laugh either. Due to the leakage, the Shade Island began to undergo major changes and disappeared in the blink of an eye.” Gerry said in a desolate tone. He still felt regretful of not stopping his race from committing further sins.

They were worshipped and trusted by the Phantasm Species, but their race betrayed the very trust laid in them.

”The Siren King wanted to fix it, but everything was already too late. Now, we have to wait for the Sea Traveler to rediscover Shade Island and guide us back to the light.”

Xu Feng silently absorbed the information. Many pieces were being placed together, but he still had some doubts and skepticism.

He didn’t dare to blindly believe Gerry’s words.

Re-discover Shade Island and guide them back to the light?

It was easier said than done!

Moreover, who was to guarantee that the reappearance of the Shade Island wouldn’t trigger another civil war?

By that time, the Abyssal Eye would be the least of his worries.

Instead, it would be all those hidden monsters who sought the Shade Island and Sea Heart’s power.

’Each and every one of them is a shrewd bastard.’ Xu Feng cursed Gerry internally. He thought he managed to escape from Raiza’s grasp when Burpe dealt with the former. But in the blink of an eye, another crazy monster appeared.

This time, it was even a remnant with the strength of Tier 6.

How was he supposed to contend against these monsters?

’Fuck it! I’ll just leave after activating the shrine.’ Xu Feng no longer had any intention of rushing the Phantasm Sea event.

While Gerry continued his monologue, Xu Feng feigned to be attentive. But deep down, he was thinking of how to leave.

Finally, after a long historical recount, Gerry said, ”Anyway, the activation of the beacon requires my approval.”

”Then this maze?” Xu Feng pretended to be slow and incapable of understanding his meaning. Being too clever in such situations often meant a dead end. Only by playing stupid could it reassure the opposing party to lower their vigilance and suspicions.

”Haha, this maze was constructed by me in my free time. It’s used to trap a few rats who dared to intrude on this place.” Gerry laughed merrily.

”You have earned my approval already. I only hope that you can find the Shade Island and resolve our Siren’s sin. This is what the prophecy intended for the Sea Traveler, who is also the sustainer of the sea, to restore peace.”

Sustainer your ass!

Xu Feng nearly vomited on the spot at Gerry’s ridiculous declaration.

Want him to take the vanguard and become cannon fodder?

Sorry, he may have named his guild the Vanguard, but that didn’t mean he would become a vanguard for others.

This was especially so when the opposing party wasn’t trustworthy!

”It’ll be my honor to help contribute to restoring peace to the Phantasm Sea.” Nevertheless, Xu Feng acted enthusiastically and readily agreed to the task. As someone weak, he must behave like the weak and bide his time.

Gerry didn’t suspect anything. He thought he actually succeeded and swiftly activated the beacon.

”Anyway, the activation will open the door to the shrine. I reckon you’ll be having a difficult time fending off the monsters outside. The blueprint here shows the layout of the maze, and you’ll be granted temporary control of the trap mechanisms.”

Shortly after saying so, Gerry vanished from the scene.

In the meantime, Xu Feng had multiple prompts appearing, each with a projected screen of multiple sectors.

One of the prompts was an explanation of his current authority.

System Notification: Gerry has granted you temporary authority! All available features in the shrine are now open to the users!

Alongside the prompt were detailed instructions on how to use the tools.

Additionally, a time limit of 3 minutes was shown on the sky.

Once the time limit dropped to 0, that was when the doors would open up completely, allowing the monsters to swarm in.

’Hah... these so-called seniors are all a bunch of bastards!’ Xu Feng sneered inwardly. These seniors were often the most useless and background characters.

Never showed up in the time of a major crisis and always hid in some desolate corner, only to pop out once the situation was resolved.

If Xu Feng had the chance to overpower Gerry, he would make sure to put the latter in the same situation.
