Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 1146: Dormant Spirit

Xu Feng didn’t want to be paranoid, but it was hard for him to not become paranoid if he wished to tread forward.

For the dormant spirit to occupy Burpe’s body without the latter’s knowledge, the action alone had already made him frown.

Afterward, the dormant spirit gave him seemingly gentle advice by telling him not to kill the monsters.

Maybe the dormant spirit thought he was also ignorant, but Arthur had long stated to him privately that the monsters affected by the Abyssal Tide were gone forever.

If the dormant spirit and Arthur had truly gone a long way back, then why were their statements contrasted so much?

’I much rather believe the word from someone who’s no longer here than someone who’s here but did absolutely nothing.’ Xu Feng thought to himself.

Even though he held such a thought, he refrained from exposing himself.

After all, the spirit claimed to be going dormant once the effect was over. But who knows whether that was the truth or not?

Maybe it said so in a way to make him lower his guard.

Sorry, but Xu Feng just ain’t going to blindly trust anyone he had just met, especially when he had no prior information or knowledge regarding them.

”Burope?” Burpe suddenly called out when he noticed Xu Feng was still in a daze.

”Ah, right. We should start moving.” He lightly chuckled.

”Burope!” In response, Burpe pointed at the habitat, seemingly questioning why they weren’t going to head inside.

”There’s no need to anymore. Their hearts are at rest.” Xu Feng flashed a bittersweet smile. Their departure was disheartening, but he couldn’t allow himself to be absorbed in the moment.

All he could do was reassure himself that he managed to help fulfill their last wishes without fail.

Not everything in life was full of rainbows.

Sometimes, there are tragedies that can’t be stopped no matter what you try to do.

As the two of them returned to the warship, the dormant spirit hidden deep inside Burpe was silent.

’This Sea Traveler is indeed too cautious.’ The spirit realized its shortcomings in convincing the former to behave in his direction. It had rushed too early and thought it could utilize Arthur’s final message to capitalize.

Alas, they were severely mistaken and resulted in an unfavorable situation.

While there was no pill for regrets, the spirit could only watch the situation discreetly. Instantly, it was rendered speechless when its warning was taken as a complete joke.

Rather than avoiding killing the monsters, Xu Feng and Burpe actually intensified their killing competition to see who could kill the fastest within a certain time frame.

’Fuck fuck fuck! How can such a killing machine be the Sea Traveler??!’ The spirit raged internally.

Unfortunately, there was nothing it could do. The words it had spoken earlier weren’t all false. It indeed could only reveal itself earlier because of the magical residue left behind by Arthur.

As the spirit was extremely frustrated, back at the sea, Xu Feng clapped his hands in defeat.

”Aish, you are too fierce, Burpe!” He had to admit defeat when Burpe’s rate of killing was faster than his by at least two times.

”Burope~” Burpe cheered excitedly when it bested Xu Feng once again. It stood tall and proud, almost as if declaring that he was the better shooter.

”Yeah, you’re just better.” Xu Feng gave him a thumbs-up. But deep down, he had a premonition that his companionship with Burpe would soon end as well.

’Burpe is listed as a pet, but once I left the Phantasm Sea, there’s no record of him.’ Having witnessed Arthur’s end, his overthinking habit kicked in again.

Hence, he wanted to spend some more time with Burpe before proceeding ahead.

Either way, he was still achieving his main objective while having fun with Burpe: filling the bags and experience points.

”Burope!!!” Burpe suddenly shouted and pointed at the phantasm map.

”Burop!” It continued, seemingly trying to tell him to make haste.

It kept pointing back and forth between their distance and the next beacon area.

”You don’t want to compete further?” Xu Feng asked softly.

Burpe shook its head. It was unwilling to end the competition, but it also knew that it had a higher priority task.

Maybe it was because the dormant spirit had suddenly emerged, but Xu Feng was starting to resonate with Burpe.

”You’re right... We shouldn’t delay further.” Xu Feng smiled and decided to speedrun the Phantasm Sea. As for the other possible conspiracies, Xu Feng didn’t care.

Whether it was the Abyssal Eye or the dormant spirit, he was too lazy to care about them.

With that in mind, Xu Feng and Burpe soon traveled to the next beacon shrine.

And unlike the first one, where there were multiple requests, what awaited them was just a powerful sea boss monster.

Needless to say, the sea boss monster was swiftly dealt with. Xu Feng controlled the warship with extreme precision, avoiding all the sea boss monster’s projectiles.

Simultaneously, Burpe was practically a born shooter.

He doesn’t miss!!!

Every critical flesh point was aimed and targeted by Burpe, causing the sea boss monster to go berserk in less than 10 minutes.

”And that’s done!” Xu Feng sailed the warship toward the corpse. His eyes glistened in joy when he saw the abundance of loot drop.

’All these beautiful materials... I am so happy that I get to monopolize this.’ He was probably the only person ever to tap into this kind of wealth.

Not even the past timeline had players exploring the Phantasm Sea to this extent.

”BUROPE!!” Amidst Xu Feng’s excitement, Burpe suddenly leaped up and approached a gemstone.

It wanted to devour the gemstone, but Xu Feng’s eyes narrowed. He hurriedly blocked Burpe from approaching the gemstone and stored it in his inventory.

”Burip!!” Burpe cried aloud and looked at him with an aggrieved expression.

”Do you take me for a fool?” In response, Xu Feng coldly snorted and was on the verge of smacking this piece of shit.

”Damn dormant spirit! Your imitation is lacking too much.”
