Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 692: Declaration of War

When Veronica learned that only their guild members had received the title, her expression quickly turned cheeky.

”Haha, our guild will now surpass them further.” She exclaimed in joy.

Without a doubt, Veronicaʼs nervousness and anxiety from their first meeting had been dispelled. She had now been completely converted as a part of the Vanguard Guild.

”Oh, then isnʼt this bad for Iceheart of Phoenix Guild?” Veronica suddenly raised her concern. ”They werenʼt participating in the siege, but reports from the NPCs we hired stated that they were standing from afar and inspecting the battle.”

”I appreciate your concern, but they arenʼt going to be affected.” Xu Feng responded and didnʼt divulge further.

Truth be told, he made an underground bet with them prior to the siege. During that time, he also told them where to stand to spectate.

The underground bet was a legitimate yet illegal sort of event. It was difficult for law enforcement to even enforce any sort of laws against such an event as well.

After all, the people who managed the underground bet were those in a very high position, and the betters were equally in similar status. To attempt to even poke their nose in it was equivalent to poking a beehive and asking for trouble.

ʼI should probably receive the amount in the private account by now. It sure is easy to earn money once you know you will win.ʼ Xu Feng found it hilarious that his past self would have been struggling just to do some part-time job.

Not only was he paid minimum wage, but even the work was strenuous and mentally taxing. Just recalling those days nearly made Xu Feng shiver uncontrollably.

”Anyway, list the items that we looted in the range of 15-25 in our guild post. You can set the price of merit points required to redeem them.” Xu Feng announced.

”Youʼre leaving the pricing to me?” Astonished, Veronica clearly didnʼt expect to be handed over such an important job.

”Of course, just based on the fact that you didnʼt question my motive or ask why I should let them be eligible for exchange is enough to prove my judgment to be correct.”

”...”

Speechless, Veronica wanted to turn back in time and question his decision instead.

ʼUgh, how am I supposed to set the pricing in terms of merit points?ʼ She cried inwardly. It would have been easier if she was tasked to set them in coins, given that merit points functioned and earned in a whole different system.

Despite there being a value exchange between merit points and coins. The truth was that merit points could either be highly valued or lower-valued depending on the guildʼs strength.

And currently, the merit points in Vanguard Guild have surpassed that value exchange and are still rising high in the exchange rate.

It wasnʼt an exaggeration to say that the items Xu Feng planned on putting up for redemption would be cheaper than the market price.

Cheaper because merit points are similar to digital currency. It only held value because people deemed it valuable and if anything happened to such beliefs, then the value could easily fall abysmally low.

”So are you up for the task or not? If youʼre not then Iʼm afraid I have to give the task to Stylish Shooter.” Xu Feng said after realizing she had been silent for a bit too long.

Almost immediately, Veronica became resolute and said, ”Iʼll do it.”

ʼIf Stylish Shooter gets the job, then weʼll be bankrupt by then.ʼ She thought to herself, clearly having zero trust in him. The large-scale raid itself had already explained clearly that Stylish Shooter was a complete simp for Crystal and paid little to zero attention to other things.

”Alright, if youʼre that enthusiastic, then this job can only be yours.” Xu Feng said and regretfully denied Stylish Shooter the role, much to Veronicaʼs relief.

”Iʼll be excusing myself then. I need to check up on the market price of those items and the fluctuating value of our guildʼs merit points.” Veronica said and exited the office.

Sometime later, after Xu Feng successfully baited Veronica to do the logistic work on his behalf, he called for Carmen to enter the office.

”Is it about time for that?” Carmen asked the moment she entered.

Nodding, Xu Feng calmly said, ”Yes, itʼs time to make a declaration of war against MIST.”

Despite saying so, Carmenʼs expression was rather complicated. It appeared as if she was doubtful or confused about something.

Very naturally, Xu Feng could perceive such emotion based on his experiences alone. ”Do you have any doubts in mind? If so, just speak up. Itʼs best to dispel them rather than keeping it to yourself.”

A few seconds later, Carmen took a seat and questioned, ”Why are we declaring war on them this time?”

Prior to MISTʼs offense, there had been instances where the guild was harmed indirectly or directly by others. The most notable ones being the Reaver Guild and Lethal Corp.

Yet Xu Feng never actually retaliated in the form of a declaration of war and merely sought compensation.

Although Xu Feng had yet to physically do anything else to harm Lethal Corp in the Divine World, everyone was able to tell the damages were done in the real world. Ever since their failed attempt, Lethal Finance had been hit hard and only recently salvaged the mess.

And when comparing their actions with MIST, many would definitely believe the former were worse than MIST.

”MIST strength isnʼt much different than Reaver Guild, but you still forgave the latter.” She continued, clearly unable to comprehend Xu Fengʼs decision to go to war.

”Letʼs correct that for a second. You forgave the Reaver Guild, so I lost a reasonable clause to continue to attack them. Lethal Corp is still too big to be trifled with, so they are temporarily safe. But MIST is different. You gave them a fierce warning from their previous intention, but instead of learning the lesson. They decided to be more naughty.”

After saying so, Xu Fengʼs aura surged forward. Time and time again, because he only sought profit to develop his guild, others seriously thought he wouldnʼt ever dare to retaliate properly.

Well, now was the time to break off their foolish misconception!
