Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 690: Shameless Guild

The atmosphere in the tavern became rather awkward when the Vanguard Guildʼs representative seemed more interested in food than their so-called business.

”Ahem, Mister Shadow Blade. The situation is like this.” Flame Bird faked a cough and decided to explain what was going on.

Sometime later, Zhao Kai realized why everyone paid attention to him.

ʼTsk, so it wasnʼt that they wanted to take away the food.ʼ He clicked his tongue and tapped his fingers on the table.

He seemed to be in deep thought, but the truth was that he began messaging Xu Feng about what to do in this situation.

Since he wasnʼt directly involved in the siege, he couldnʼt comprehend whether or not Xu Feng intended to eradicate Riverbane.

As for why he was chosen as representative. The reason was even simpler. He was the closest out of them all to Red Forest City.

Who else but him would do the compensation part?

Shadow Blade: Feng, it seemed like Riverbane is willing to fork out 2 land deeds as compensation to the Phoenix Guild. The condition is that we wonʼt prosecute them further afterward. Do we agree to this deal or not?

A few minutes had gone by since Zhao Kai requested help.

And unbeknownst to everyone, they believed Zhao Kai was silently pondering whether to display a strong might or show mercy.

This time though, even Flame Bird was secretly hoping that Zhao Kai would accept the deal.

The Phoenix Guild was more or less in a similar situation as Riverbane. Therefore, if they push Dusk Sky too far into the corner, then it would only backfire for both parties. In the end, only those uninvolved would benefit from their brawl.

ʼThe Vanguard Guild wouldnʼt be trying to scheme against us, right?ʼ Flame Bird wondered. Truth be told, she was rather surprised and dumbfounded when it was Iceheart who informed her to meet with a representative.

Never once did she anticipate her cold commander would assign such a task.

As the atmosphere continued to intensify, Dusk Sky was filled with anxiety on the inside. ʼCould the Vanguard Guild really be trying to target us solely till the end?ʼ

Thankfully, the atmosphere returned to tranquil when Zhao Kai clasped his hands.

”Alright, if Riverbane promised to give the 2 land deeds to the Phoenix Guild and make a statement about being involved in the siege. Then everything shall be resolved.” He declared.

”A statement?” Startled, Dusk Sky twitched his mouth. ”Do you mean like a public apology post?”

”Yes, thatʼs about right.” Zhao Kai nodded.

”Thatʼs impossible!” Instantly, Dusk Skyʼs expression became resilient— even more so than when he was demanded to fork out the 2 land deeds.

Contrary to losing the land deeds, making a public apology post was a complete face-slap to the Riverbane Guild. In their position, reputation and fame were more important than anything.

If he truly made such a post without permission, then demotion was the least of his worries. Rather, it would be hard for him to mingle in the virtual reality community anymore.

Even Flame Bird found the Vanguard Guildʼs demand to be overboard.

ʼHe canʼt be serious about it, right?ʼ She became nervous. No one would be willing to make such public comments or posts that undermine their guild.

Such a demand was equivalent to asking for war and no peace.

Meanwhile, as if expecting such a response, Zhao Kai simply yawned and continued, ”Since you donʼt want to make a public apology post, then it can also be exchanged with another 500 gold coins.”

”...”

Speechless, Dusk Sky found his saliva caught in his throat.

ʼThis shrewd guild.ʼ He cursed silently in his heart. By now, even a fool could tell the Vanguard Guild not only wanted land but also actual gold coins.

The lands would naturally be used to further establish friendly relationships with the Phoenix Guild whereas the gold coins would be pocketed by the Vanguard Guild for their own development.

To summarize, his branch Riverbane not only lost a ton of elites, but they also lost money and land to help assist others.

”Ah, and I was informed if Riverbane refused to accept the condition. Then that is fine as well. Our Boss, Eclipse Nova, would simply take a stroll at your Riverbane main guild.” Zhao Kai clasped his hands and flashed an amiable smile.

Having heard that Eclipse Nova might show up in the main guild, Dusk Sky felt as if his back had been splashed with a bucket of cold water.

The chill that he received when he imagined the same horrifying display of Eclipse Novaʼs skills in their main guild, had reached a new height of fear.

”Fine, I agree, but the Vanguard Guild must honor their promise and not attempt anything shady behind the scenes.” Dusk Sky exclaimed.

”Do you think our guild is shameless like yours? Taking advantage of othersʼ plight?” Zhao Kai rolled his eyes.

ʼBut that is how the Vanguard Guild operates.ʼ Flame Bird thought to herself.

Even Dusk Sky had similar thoughts and had no choice but to smile in agreement.

”I supposed the Vanguard Guild isnʼt shameless.” He said, trying his best to suppress his anger.

Alas, what he received was a fierce glare from Zhao Kai.

Thus, he quickly corrected himself, ”I mean the Vanguard Guild is honorable and righteous. May our grudge be resolved once we pay the compensation.”

”Thatʼs my grandson. Understanding and easygoing.” Zhao Kaiʼs expression quickly turned 180 degrees as he laughed heartily.

”Alright, the temporary alliance between our guild and Phoenix Guild would end once Riverbane fulfilled the condition. We have no intention of planting a flag in Red Forest City, so you are free to continue the fight afterward.” He continued and ordered a few more food from the tavern waiters for takeout.

Naturally, Riverbane would pay for the takeout food as well while signing a contract overseen by the Divine World System.

This was the surefire way to guarantee no parties would ever attempt to renege on their promise.

”Okay, now that the contract is signed, the Phoenix Guild is not allowed to entice a war or guerrilla warfare until Riverbaneʼs elites can re-login. My job here is also done, so feel free to continue talking without me. Iʼve got to go.” Zhao Kai yawned and swiftly exited the tavern, leaving both parties speechless at his nonchalant behavior.
