Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 550: True Motive

Initially, Allison didnʼt anticipate there to be so many steps required to play a simple game, but when she recalled Ning Yiʼs words and how Xu Feng was part of a high-ranking member in the Vanguard Guild.

She decided to go along with the interview.

ʼFor the sake of investigating, Iʼll just play along with his little game. I canʼt just give up now.ʼ Allison thought to herself.

For a guild within the game to be capable enough of actually ruining a top 200 company in the world, causing their stock value to drop was sufficient evidence for Allison to realize that the Divine World held more secrets than the eyes meet.

Otherwise, she wouldnʼt have even bothered to join the Divine World.

All other previous VRMMORPGs were considered enjoyable playtime but none actually affected the real-world financial structure.

However, the Divine World was like an unknown entity, slowly corrupting and converting the people to become players.

Time quickly passed by, and Allisonʼs face was as dark as the night.

”Hey, how much longer is this interview going to be for?” She asked in a solemn laced with a subtle irritated tone. It had been more than 30 minutes since they sat down on the couch and Xu Feng began asking her numerous questions, followed by ”if” possibilities scenarios.

What was worse was that some of the questions seemed very personal, prompting her to think carefully whether she wanted to answer or not.

And whenever she chose the latter, Xu Feng managed to bring up a ton of different reasons why he needed to know about it.

”Is this really interviewing for the Divine World or just learning about my personal life?” Allison frowned slightly and questioned his integrity.

”A class playstyle resembled a second life for the individual. If I donʼt know about them, then how could I accurately decide what class is more suitable for you?” Xu Feng remained calm and replied.

”There are times when people believe they chose the correct one for them, but later on, they regret it deeply. I doubt you would want to restart from scratch or be forced to play a class you donʼt like.”

”But I just wanted to try it out and learn some basics.”

”And Iʼm telling you that if you want me to tutor you, then you better take it seriously. My time is very precious, so if youʼre not serious then we can forget about it.”

”...”

Allison was rendered speechless. She even began to wonder who had the higher seniority here, especially when she was a professor while Xu Feng was still just a student— dropout or not.

”Then how much longer will you ask?” Allison was bored out of her mind. ”My job interview took me less than 5 minutes before they hired me on the spot.”

”Thatʼs because they heard of your background.” Xu Feng flatly called her out unconsciously.

”Eh, how did you know?” Startled, Allison didnʼt expect him to know about it.

Thankfully, he was quick-witted enough to easily deflect the suspicions.

”Youʼve answered that many and you are Yiʼs aunt, so obviously you are someone with a background. Although you might claim you got to that position from your own effort, only a fool would believe that.” He rolled his eyes and clarified.

To those so-called young entrepreneurs who appeared in the news and claimed they got to their position from their own hard work was so laughable in his mind.

Without their background and connections, just what kind of investors would invest in a start-up company or business of a young entrepreneur?

And Allison was not one to shy away from such facts as she nodded. ”Thatʼs true. Who doesnʼt want to open their arms wide and welcome me when they realize who my father is?”

Despite her shamelessness, the truth remained that she was one determined professor who wanted nothing but the best for her students.

”Okay, the question should be enough for me to get an idea of a class suitable for you.” Xu Feng decided to wrap it up after getting the answer he wanted.

He had stalled and asked numerous questions simply to understand how and why she appeared at Avalon City. Part of the reason was partially due to Dean Qiaoʼs demise and the Kingston School needing to have its reputation revived, and another reason was the most significant one.

She came here to investigate the upstart Vanguard Guild. As for how she knew it must be related to Avalon City, this was due to Wei Xing, otherwise known as his other persona, OneManMedia.

Because Wei Xing didnʼt bother to conceal his whereabouts, given that he was a reporter and needed publicity in general, anyone could easily investigate his place of origin.

Therefore, whatever Allison said in her message or at Starlight Cafe was nothing but a sham.

Her true motive was to find out his connection with the Vanguard Guild and just who the mysterious boss behind Lin Feng was.

ʼNing Yi definitely didnʼt tell her that I was Lin Feng.ʼ Xu Feng was somewhat pleased that despite his blabber mouth, Ning Yi didnʼt reveal anything critical.

In this aspect, Ning Yi had passed his test on being a trustworthy comrade.

The only surprise he truly received this time was Allison being technically an Aunt in terms of status to Ning Yi.

”Well, what is the class best suited for me then?” Allison remained unaware of Xu Fengʼs scheme, still thinking that she was at an advantage.

”Itʼs the Cleric class.” Xu Feng smiled and said lightly.

Almost instantly, Allisonʼs expression was less than pleased to hear the class, Cleric.

She frowned and argued. ”Why is it a Cleric? They are weak and squishy. Zero defensive capability and offensive power either.”

In her mind, a Cleric was the most passive type and also the most useless one when alone.

Without a proper team, Cleric could barely accomplish anything themselves, and she was one independent woman, to say the least.

ʼHe has to be joking or toying with me, right?ʼ Allison wondered silently.
