Transmigrated as The Best Female Character of the Year

Even though Ian wasn’t scared, Melody Monroe’s heart still ached for him.

”Ma’am, if anything like this ever happens again, please, you must protect Ian. I’ll raise your salary by another thousand. I’m not asking for anything else, but I’m begging you, please take good care of Ian.”

”Miss Monroe, don’t you worry. I’ve always taken very good care of Ian. It’s just that the situation that day was so unusual,” the nanny explained.

Melody Monroe knew that a nanny was, in the end, just a nanny. They were paid to do a job. When danger struck, it was impossible for them to protect their employer’s child as if they were their own.

”Thank you for your hard work.”

”It’s no trouble at all. It’s what I’m here for.”

Ian Monroe took the phone and looked at his mother. ”Mommy, I’m not scared of the doggy. Maybe the doggy just wanted to play with Ian.”

”Little animals can be very cute, but you have to stay away from ones you don’t know, understand?”

”Ian understands.”

”Mommy will find some time to come back and be with Ian soon.”

”Okay!” Ian Monroe nodded immediately.

Melody Monroe chatted with Ian Monroe for a little while longer before reluctantly ending the video call.

Although it was a small incident, it caused a huge turmoil in her heart. Ian was still so young; he needed his mother by his side. But if she kept acting, she definitely wouldn’t have time to be with him.

Perhaps it wasn’t impossible for her to find a different way of life, one that didn’t involve acting.

For Ian, she would give up everything.

However, her five-year contract with Stellaris was the biggest problem. Even if she wanted to change her life, it wasn’t something she could do overnight.

That’s why she had to work even harder now to earn more money.

This time, she was lucky the next-door neighbor had been there to protect Ian.

Just thinking about it made her break out in a cold sweat!

When she got back, she would have to thank her neighbor properly.

...

After freshening up and eating a small breakfast, Melody Monroe headed to the hotel’s fitness center.

The fitness center was on the second floor. It had all sorts of exercise equipment and a swimming pool.

She had plenty of time today, so she decided to go for a swim to relax.

The pool was unusually empty today. Melody Monroe changed, did a few warm-up exercises, and dove into the water. She swam a full lap in one go before returning to the edge to rest.

Just as she was about to turn and swim a few more laps, she suddenly saw a tall, imposing figure walking toward her!

Evan Fairchild!

’No, it can’t be him, can it?!’

Melody Monroe looked in that direction again. It really was Evan Fairchild!

Except, he wasn’t in a suit and tie today. Instead, he was wearing athletic attire that did an even better job of showing off his excellent physique!

Melody Monroe quickly turned away, shrinking into a corner of the pool.

’He can’t see me! He definitely can’t see me!’ Her breathing grew ragged.

Evan Fairchild watched the figure in the water, his brow slightly furrowed.

’Wearing that kind of swimsuit in a public place like this! Does she think she doesn’t attract enough attention?’

Melody Monroe indeed hadn’t noticed that ever since she arrived, several pairs of eyes in the pool had been following her.

She hid in the water, thinking she heard footsteps approaching.

Suddenly, she took a deep breath and plunged straight under the water.

Evan Fairchild stood at the edge of the pool, watching the small bubbles rising to the surface and the little woman swimming underwater as if looking for a chance to escape.

Melody Monroe swam for a while until she couldn’t hold her breath any longer and broke the surface.

She looked ahead but saw no sign of Evan Fairchild.

’He probably went to the gym next door, right?’
