I Can Fish Up Everything!

Chapter 185: Chapter 132: Super Addictive Beachcombing

The charcoal stove was lit, and after a short while, the crabs were steamed.

First, he used a small metal spoon to scoop the meat from one of the crabs into its carapace. The spider crab’s body was plump and full of meat.

Gu Nan roughly scooped out more than half, and the carapace was already full.

Then, he poured raw crab roe on top and placed it on the charcoal stove to grill.

He then eagerly started on the other spider crab. One bite was all meat. The meat from the spider crab’s body was unexpectedly tender, as well as remarkably fresh and sweet.

Unfortunately, even though it was wrapped in plastic wrap, steaming it after cutting it open had caused it to lose a lot of its freshness, making the meat taste a bit bland.

But this also proved that the spider crab’s meat was truly excellent. He personally felt it was even more delicious than the Sri Lankan mud crab.

The mud crab’s meat was coarser, and its flavor was rather ordinary when Steamed. It was usually braised or cooked in a curry sauce.

’This is even better than Emperor Crab!’

Spider crabs were full of meat, whereas with Emperor Crabs, you mostly just ate the legs. The meat wasn’t as tender or fresh, so it really felt a bit lacking in comparison.

However, Emperor Crabs were more famous than spider crabs.

Two four-jin spider crabs actually yielded only about two jin of meat in total.

Given Gu Nan’s appetite, this late-night snack barely staved off his hunger.

Still, after tasting it himself, he felt the spider crab was worth the price. He decided he would ask Sheng Shuyun later if they could promote it at the hotel.

’This thing should be popular. I wonder why it’s not well-known in the country. Is it because foreigners don’t really eat it?’

He tossed all the spider crab remains into the sea, cleaned and put away the pot, washed up and brushed his teeth, and gave his body and feet a quick scrub before heading into the bedroom.

After turning on the small air conditioner in the bedroom, lying down, and covering his stomach with a light blanket, he opened the game and clicked to enter the beachcombing map that had just been unlocked today.

WHOOSH—he appeared on the beach of a small island.

It was another bright, sunny day, but just like before, he didn’t feel the heat.

Gu Nan looked around and found that this small island was much smaller than Lingdou Island. The beach, at least, was a hundred meters at most.

However, its overall appearance was indeed quite similar to Lingdou Island’s; no wonder the similarity was over 90%.

But he was empty-handed, and there were no beachcombing tools around. ’How am I supposed to play this?’

But in the next moment, the game sent him the rules for the beachcombing map.

Unlike the weekly beachcombing event, on a beachcombing map opened with Gold Coins, you had to rent your tools from the map’s store.

Since there was no time limit, Gu Nan wasn’t in a rush to start beachcombing. He opened the store to check out the tools inside.

There were pliers, a bucket, a sand shovel, a beachcombing hook, and so on. Each cost one hundred Gold Coins to rent, and the rental period lasted until he exited the map.

When the bucket was half full, he could transfer everything inside to the aquarium or the chilled seafood gallery. Of course, if Gu Nan chose to exit the map, the items in the bucket would also be transferred automatically.

Secondly, beachcombing on a map unlocked with Gold Coins would not feature imported seafood, only marine products from domestic waters.

So there were no import taxes or anything of the sort. Even if he chose to have them shipped, a domestic seafood company would handle the delivery.

In that case, though, he could just take them directly from the aquarium and save on shipping fees.

As for the beachcombing tools, he didn’t know what he would find on this small island yet, so he rented a bucket first. He’d rent the other tools later if he needed them.

It was only a hundred Gold Coins a piece. Gu Nan wasn’t that stingy.

The sandy beach was empty at a glance. He headed toward the intertidal zone to his left.

He had only taken a couple of steps when he suddenly noticed the damp sand beside him was covered in small holes.

’Could it be Spotted Prawn Shrimp again?’

He approached the edge of one hole and realized it was a bit too small to be a Spotted Prawn Shrimp’s burrow. Instead, it belonged to another type of premium seafood.

A quick scan revealed small holes everywhere. Gu Nan knew what he was dealing with.

He opened the game store, rented a sand shovel, then looked again and found a salt shaker.

Since there was a salt shaker available, there was no need to guess what was under the sand.

The hole wasn’t perfectly round; it was slightly oval.

Gu Nan used the sand shovel to scrape away the top layers of sand. About ten centimeters down, he saw what was hidden inside. It was a razor clam, just as he’d expected.

This stuff was delicious; he was particularly fond of it.

He sprinkled some salt from the shaker into the hole. The razor clam inside twitched, then immediately shot out a stream of water, just like it was peeing.

Gu Nan sprinkled salt two more times, and the clam, unable to stand the saltiness, pushed more than half its body out on its own.

He seized the opportunity to grab the clam’s body, but instead of yanking it forcefully, he applied gentle pressure and pulled it out bit by bit.

It was actually longer than his palm. However, one of its siphons was missing. Gu Nan dug into the small hole with his hand and pulled out its ”nose.”

With both siphons accounted for, this Clam King was almost thirty centimeters long and definitely weighed at least half a jin.

A Clam King this big could sell for two hundred and sixty a jin on the market. The beachcombing on Tail Island was nothing; *this* was real beachcombing.

Gu Nan then continued digging at the small holes with his shovel. The next burrow he found was longer and thinner; there were probably clams buried here.

Sure enough, after digging through just a few layers of sand, the clam appeared before his eyes. It was as big as a small ping-pong ball, and very large.

Gu Nan took them all. There were so many holes here; he could just dig his way along.

After digging up three clams in a row, he came across another Clam King burrow.
