This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

”Du, in this solar disease case, Wu diagnosed it as a Yangming syndrome. Besides the characteristics written above, what other evidence or symptoms can confirm it as a Yangming syndrome? Also, how do we differentiate between Yangming syndrome and Shaoyang syndrome? Is there any simpler method?”

”You read that quite fast.” Du Heng smiled as he looked at Ma Zichen holding the disease record Ma Zichen had brought to him. However, he didn’t answer Ma Zichen’s questions. Instead, he called Wu Buwei, who was nearby. ”Buwei, you answer Zichen’s questions.”

Wu Buwei stood up and walked over. ”Don’t worry, Senior Brother, I’ll teach him.”

Du Heng handed the disease record to Wu Buwei with a smile. ”Zichen, let Buwei explain it to you. Just ask him if you don’t understand. I’ll step out for a moment, and when I come back, I’ll assess both of you on this issue.”

”Rest assured, Du, I will study it seriously.”

Du Heng smiled and walked towards the office door.

The matter of completing the personnel files in Upper Village went as he had anticipated.

After lingering in Duke Village for two days, unable to get people to come, Du Heng and Wu Buwei moved to the three villages near the Health Clinic.

As he had expected, no one came for medical treatment.

Even if he and Wu Buwei carried their medicine boxes and went door-to-door, they would be turned away.

These three villages were located around the Health Clinic, and they knew the clinic’s situation all too well.

Another reason, as mentioned before, was that the downtown area was only a half-hour drive away, so they didn’t think much of the Health Clinic’s medical facilities.

To put it bluntly, they didn’t even want to get medicine from the Health Clinic, fearing it might be counterfeit.

With no patients, Du Heng didn’t feel like aimlessly wandering around outside. He collected the completed personnel files from the subsidized village doctors, and then he and Wu Buwei returned.

Only three days had passed since their last gathering.

By the way, Du Heng had stayed at Wang Shuqiu’s dormitory for the past two nights.

The two of them had naturally gotten together.

As he stepped out of the office, Wang Zhenzhen beckoned, ”Xiao Heng, come here.”

People were busy in the Outpatient Hall, some hanging display boards, others unloading promotional boards. With items scattered about and people bustling around, the place looked chaotic.

Du Heng carefully avoided the things on the ground and walked to the door of the registration office. ”Wang, what’s up?”

Wang Zhenzhen looked at Du Heng with a hint of playful reproach. ”Why are you still calling me Wang? Shouldn’t you call me Sister?”

Du Heng chuckled, knowing what Wang Zhenzhen meant, and obediently called out, ”Sister.”

”That’s more like it,” Wang Zhenzhen said, turning and walking into the office. She took a wallet out of her bag.

”Here, Xiao Qiu gave this to me last night. She said you left it at her place the night before last.”

Du Heng reached out and took it. ”She called me about it. I went home last night, so I had to ask you to bring it back for me.”

From Wang Shuqiu’s behavior yesterday, Wang Zhenzhen had already suspected they might be living together. However, Wang Shuqiu had come and gone in a hurry, so she hadn’t had a chance to ask clearly. Now, looking at Du Heng, she wanted a definite answer.

After a moment’s hesitation, she asked quietly, ”Xiao Heng, tell me the truth. Are you two living together now?”

”Are you very surprised?”

”Of course! You two were always so lukewarm. Last month, you only went out for dinner together two or three times. Gong and I thought you two were over, but now you’re suddenly together again. How could I not be surprised?”

”We haven’t seen each other much in person lately, but we’ve been in constant contact over the phone.”

”Now that you’re together, treat each other well. You’re a good young man, and my little sister is a good girl too. She’s just a bit stubborn and can be proud when dealing with things. As a man, you should be more tolerant.”

”Don’t worry, Sister, I will. And while she may be proud, I haven’t actually found her to be stubborn, as you mentioned.”

”That’s just the beginning; you’ll see later.”

Du Heng grinned. Looking at the busy group in the Hall, he asked curiously, ”Sister, what are they doing?”

Wang Zhenzhen glanced over as well. ”What else could they be doing? Rearranging the promotional boards, of course. You’ve been away this whole month, so you probably don’t know. I heard that the district’s evaluation has started, and the evaluation team might arrive in the next few days.”

Du Heng’s eyebrows twitched. He asked thoughtfully, ”Does that mean Director Li is about to be transferred?”

”I heard so. And it’s to a good place, possibly the Fanjiaping area.”

”That’s great. Fanjiaping is now a Science and Technology Park and completely connected to the downtown area. It’s a good place indeed.”

Wang Zhenzhen glanced at the Internal Medicine Office behind her, then pulled Du Heng forward a couple of steps and whispered, ”I heard that Zhang Jinlian has been making moves recently. I guess she’s probably trying to climb higher. You’d better be careful.”

Upon hearing this, Du Heng couldn’t help but laugh.

The possibility of Zhang Jinlian aspiring to the Dean’s position was not very high. She absolutely wouldn’t pass the democratic appraisal process.

Even if her connections were strong enough to forcibly promote her, it probably wouldn’t be in Zhonghu Town, so he wasn’t worried at all.

”Xiao Heng, do you have any ambitions? Why don’t you let your brother-in-law, Gong Daoyang, pull some strings for you?”

Du Heng was surprised that Wang Zhenzhen would even entertain this thought.

He was well aware that his own qualifications were far from sufficient.

Regarding contributions, he had essentially been idling for the past five years; what significant contributions could he have made?

In terms of seniority, he was only twenty-seven. There were many people ahead of him; even Song from their own Health Clinic had more seniority.

However, since Wang Zhenzhen had mentioned it, Gong Daoyang must indeed have some connections.

Du Heng considered it. If he accepted, regardless of success, he would owe a significant favor—a big one at that—which might be difficult to repay later. Furthermore, if he really became the Dean, his daily administrative tasks would undoubtedly increase, making the completion of his system tasks a distant prospect.

Moreover, according to the system’s current pattern, there should be more tasks later, meaning a large number of salary-related tasks were waiting for him.

If he really became Dean, an extra two thousand yuan per month didn’t seem like a very good deal at all.

Besides, he genuinely disliked dealing with administrative matters. The thought of Li Qingde, always in meetings or reading documents, gave Du Heng a headache.

”No need, Sister. I’d rather just continue being an honest doctor.”

Du Heng decisively declined Wang Zhenzhen’s offer.

Wang Zhenzhen looked slightly disappointed but quickly smiled. ”Being a doctor is quite good. Diagnosing patients and prescribing medicine doesn’t involve so much trouble.”

While they were speaking, the promotional boards on both sides of the Hall were set up.

Du Heng and Wang Zhenzhen also went over to see what Li Qingde had put up.

But when Du Heng saw the photos on the promotional board, his eyeballs nearly fell out.

Thinking back now, no wonder Li Qingde, who had never cared about him before, suddenly called that day asking for their activity photos. He hadn’t expected it to be for such a shameless purpose.

Wang Zhenzhen also looked shocked, but even more puzzled. ”Xiao Heng, did the Dean go with you to Upper Village?”

In the whole row of photos, Li Qingde’s face had been photoshopped onto each one.

Honestly, if one didn’t scrutinize these photos, they wouldn’t notice they were doctored.

One had to admit, the person Li Qingde found was very skilled.

Du Heng stared at the photos for a long moment before reluctantly nodding. ”Yes, the Dean also went a few times.”

Too shameless.

Du Heng cursed inwardly.

However, he couldn’t be the one to expose this.

Clearly, this was Li Qingde’s attempt to embellish his achievements, a disgusting tactic to secure a better transfer.

Even if Du Heng exposed him, Li Qingde would remain Dean. The most likely outcome would be that his transfer would be canceled, and he’d continue to stay in Zhonghu Town, the poorest township.

In that case, Du Heng would be the one to suffer.

Therefore, he could only swallow his disgust and accept it.

It was just a bit disgusting.
