Apocalyptic Disaster: I Hoard Billions in Supplies and Kill the Saint

220: Extra Chapter 8: Old Friends ReunitedAt an abandoned train marshalling yard known as ’Black Ear Habitat,’ the Spark map detected a set of faint life fluctuations.

Ye Nanxing arrived with the rescue team and discovered that the place was occupied by a small armed group that called itself ’Settlement No. 10,’ which had a simple structure, chaotic order, and severe internal exploitation.

—And the most surprising thing was:

On the ’Pending Clearance List,’ two familiar names were clearly written.

[Zhao Yuanyuan, Zhou Yixuan]

[Candidate Number: No Contribution, High Consumption, Listed for Potential Execution]

When Ye Nanxing and the rescue team appeared and cleared the surrounding Corrupted Infected, two thin figures were shoved out from behind a corrugated iron shack, stumbling.

Zhao Yuanyuan’s complexion was haggard and her clothes were dirty, yet she still maintained a hint of ’makeup’;

Zhou Yixuan had a scruffy beard, but his movements were still affected, his posture familiar, as if he were accustomed to reclaiming his home turf even in crises.

The moment they saw Ye Nanxing, both of them were stunned.

Zhao Yuanyuan blurted out:

’...How is that possible?’

In Zhou Yixuan’s eyes, there was first shock, which then instantly turned into joy and excitement. He took a step forward, as if wanting to reenact that old ’reunion of broken mirrors’ routine:

’Nanxing... is it really you? I knew you wouldn’t die!’

He opened his arms, preparing to step forward for a hug.

But halfway there, he caught a glimpse of his own tattered rags and wounds, instantly realizing something was wrong. He hesitated for a moment, then hurriedly shifted his emotions:

’I, I’m just so happy... Look, I still have that communication clip you gave me; I never deleted it...’

Silence was more embarrassing than reproach.

Zhao Yuanyuan’s gaze gradually shattered, and her mouth twitched. The resentment and jealousy in her heart were almost breaking through her disguise:

—Why are you living even better than before the Apocalypse?

—By what right do you still get to command the future of humanity?

She suppressed her emotions, forcing a smile:

’Nanxing... have you been well these days? It’s really great, really great. Look at you now, you really have—aura.’

Her mouth twisted, but she still dared not say much more.

She knew she could not offend the Ye Nanxing before her.

However, Ye Nanxing still had not spoken, merely sweeping her gaze over them with a coldness that said, ’You are not worth mentioning.’

Zhou Yixuan couldn’t save face, and his voice grew into a low roar:

’Nanxing, don’t be like this—we were, after all... good friends!’

’Even if we aren’t anymore... you, you can’t look at us like that!’

Zhao Yuanyuan also became anxious, her tone prickly:

’Heh... yeah, who hasn’t been gritting their teeth to survive until today?’

’Are you here to save us today because you’re noble? Or is your luck just better than everyone else’s?’

Her mouth tightened viciously, a sentence almost slipping out, but she forced it back.

—But all of this had long been seen by the group of people standing to the side.

Seeing the situation spiraling out of control, the temporary leader of the waste habitat, ’Shen Rong,’ hurriedly led his men forward.

He was originally a thug leader who had established himself in the Apocalypse by armed robbery of survivors, and he had a keen eye.

He saw at a glance: the relationship between these three was definitely not simple; it was very likely an old grudge.

Seeing Ye Nanxing’s unpleasant expression, he didn’t wait for her to speak and immediately signaled with his eyes:

’Slap their mouths.’

Slap! Slap! Slap!

A series of crisp sounds, like the night wind outside the Spark barrier, struck Zhao Yuanyuan and Zhou Yixuan’s faces.

The two staggered back, clutching their faces, consumed by shame and anger, yet they dared not utter a sound.

The leader lowered his head with a sycophantic smile:

’I’ve embarrassed the Chief. These two are burdens brought in temporarily; they should have been cleared out long ago... It’s our fault for not disposing of them in time.’

Seeing Ye Nanxing’s expression soften slightly, he immediately seized the rhythm, stepped forward, and bowed:

’All of us at Settlement No. 10 are willing to obey the Fire Ring’s command. If the Chief has a recall order, our manpower and supplies will be merged in.’

Under the night sky, Ye Nanxing finally withdrew her gaze and softly uttered:

’Everyone, incorporate and relocate.’

’Cleanse the infected, send survivors into the quarantine and purification zone, and line up to enter the extraction matrix.’

When she turned around, she didn’t look at the two of them again, leaving behind only her back.

Zhao Yuanyuan and Zhou Yixuan sat slumped in the wasteland, like two old dolls abandoned by time.

They finally understood: this world no longer belonged to them.

Ye Nanxing’s gaze finally moved away from Zhao Yuanyuan and Zhou Yixuan.

There was no anger, nor contempt, just absolute coldness.

Her voice was not loud, but it suppressed people so much that they dared not look up:

’Do not treat ’being able to survive’ as your only merit.’

’The new world does not accept selfish people.’

Shen Rong heard this and immediately understood.

He bowed his head and said solemnly:

’I understand. Rest assured, Chief.’

This sentence carried his own verdict.

Shen Rong looked back at Zhao Yuanyuan and Zhou Yixuan. In that moment, his eyes no longer held caution, but complete abandonment.

They were like people ’stripped’ from the system by the entire wasteland settlement.

Under the night sky, the wind rose and dust flew, and the guiding light belt of the distant barrier illuminated the entire camp’s relocation path.

Ye Nanxing withdrew her gaze and stood by the command platform, her voice calm:

’Everyone, incorporate and relocate.’

’Cleanse the infected, send survivors into the quarantine and purification zone, and line up to enter the extraction matrix.’

’Return to the Fire Ring immediately.’

When she turned around, she didn’t look at Zhao Yuanyuan and Zhou Yixuan again.

That back was firm, calm, and allowed for no emotion.

Zhao Yuanyuan and Zhou Yixuan sat slumped beside the abandoned tracks, like a residual shadow cut out of the future by time.

They didn’t cry anymore, nor did they shout.

They just lowered their heads numbly.

Later, after the camp was cleared, Ye Nanxing boarded the return convoy.

She did not ask about them again.

Only before the convoy drove away, she looked back one last time.

On that patch of wasteland, the shadows of the two were long gone.

—No one knew if they had left on their own, or if they had been quietly ’sent away.’
