After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World

With Hassen and Bleulle’s assistance, Valov also invested a huge amounts on equipment. Alterra might’ve ensured all their guards were well-equipped and had plenty of consumables in their spaces, and Valov was determined not to lose in that respect!

In this case, Alterra’s usual advantage of out-equipping their enemies, even if their levels were higher, was pretty much gone.

Not to mention, the easement was wide but not wide enough to have people effectively go against nearly 200 people with higher levels, especially since they had to team up.

Valov also saw their blockages and so on; some were temporary constructions, while others were shields with people behind them.

Unlike others Alterra faced before, Valov’s average level and equipment allowed them to barrel through it! The Valov fighters aimed to cause as much distraction so that other people could go in.

As if the final domino was pushed over, chaos exploded. The enemy immediately dashed forward at full force, and in several different areas.

Bloody fights exploded all over the territory. The Valov side did not hold back, barging towards the enemy, planning to destroy their formation with brute force.

They also had a strategy. Like how they focused on specific spots of the walls to breach, they also chose weak spots in the enemy formation to target.

BANG!

SLAM!

For example, there was the classic shield formation that protected the Alterrans while they stabbed at their enemies with Class D weapons. In previous wars, this was extremely troublesome to others. For Valov, this was not necessarily the truth.

Waran, with his superior equipment, barraged the weak links. He specifically targeted those around level 15 and below. He had a Class B Shield. What could they do to him?

BANG!

SLAM!

The Alterrans gritted their teeth, but they kept their mouths shut, afraid the enemies would know their thoughts with their yells.

Waran rammed onto them like a battering ram, throwing people to the side and opening a path deeper into the territory for his allies.

However, even if most of the forces were guarding against the majority, against the trebuchet zones, Alterra would never leave the other areas completely bald.

A few more meters forward, Waran finally encountered his first major obstacle in this war.

CLASH!

Waran glared at Mao, who was now blocking his way with a large rock, a ball of black and white fur right next to him.

”You’ll stay here, sorry.”

...

When sentries were taken down and walls crumbled down, the number of paths that the enemies could take multiplied.

Other than the fact that the trebuchets created physical openings on the walls—a few of them now—there was also the goblins, who created tunnels in other places where the sentries were still up.

In total, there should be around a dozen paths created. There were about four pairs or trios of trebuchets, opening several sections of the walls. There was also Wazan’s big group, going over the wall above ground.

There were also smaller groups in between, hidden by the goblins’ works. They had been digging since the beginning of the war and were only waiting for the breach to happen before appearing above ground. It was still outside the walls, but with the right defenses and the element of surprise, the area would also be vulnerable.

They did not expect the breach to take a few hours, but—through the aether letters—they found out that a few had opened, leaving several sections lightly guarded.

Valov got so far on foot because no Alterran went outside the walls. They would’ve stopped a lot of people from entering if they had done so. However, Alterra cherished the life of its people, after all, and going out of the walls in this situation was too dangerous.

Unless the Alterran guards were confident they could get out alive on their own, they weren’t recommended to do so.

But inside the walls, inside the turf, then the Alterrans could go all out. Further, with the forces closing in, it was also more possible for the powerhouses to start targeting the trebuchets themselves.

The breaches opened so not only Alterra, but also the enemies became more spread out. It became a matter of choosing enemies well.

BANG!

SLAM!

At this time, Baku and Gochi were fighting against fellow half-orcs, all slaves by Valov.

The most troublesome one was the bull, with sharp horns and a massive body, nearly as large as Baku and no less deadly.

BAM!

SLAM!

They were barrelling towards each other like two durable tanks that occasionally spat out blood. It was awe-inspiring for those at a distance, and terrifying for those standing close by.

Gochi was against an avian half-orc, while his teammates dealt with the other half-orcs.

Some of his teammates included the twins Luke and Leo, who were fighting against a goat-type together. Its level was the same as theirs, but its strength and speed were far superior.

BAM!

SLAM!

Fortunately, they weren’t soft persimmons either. They were hardy elementalists!

SLAM!

”Eat this!” Luke yelled, throwing some trash from his face right at the goat’s face.

It was annoyed and ate it up, though who knew if he was digesting it.

Leon rolled his eyes and the water ball he had been making at the side finally condensed and he placed it over the goat’s head. Luke raised his spear and stabbed at the goat’s skin, keeping it in place while they drowned it.

It kicked and struggled, and it wasn’t weak, but the twins had also grown a lot the past year!

...

The avian half-orc flew a few meters above ground, swiping at random Alterrans, making them fall down. They were fortunate that they had decent defense equipment; many of them could’ve been stabbed to death by the talons.

Gochi, with the help of allies, jumped up over the balcony and then to the roof. The walls were non-scalable, but his jumping power was enough to make the movements smooth and fast.

He timed the other half-orc’s movements well, jumping over an area before it even flew there, predicting its path. Fortunately, Gochi was correct, and he pulled him down with his weight.

Lifting his core, he lifted his body up, his legs around the other half-orc’s neck, and used his weight to twist. He used the knowledge he learned in pharmacy class. He didn’t go for the kill, but even if he didn’t survive it was none of his concern.

He might be a half-orc, possibly forced into this, but Gochi wouldn’t hold back if it meant protecting Alterrans!
