After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World

While Sammy and a few blocked the strong attacks, Mao dashed to the direction of the attackers to take a look.

As if to defend, a new rain of arrows came from the side. Mao created earth walls in time to shield his brethren.

Most of their attention shifted here, but they made sure there would still be people guarding the other side.

Soon, the attackers emerged from that area, revealing hundreds of people, dozens of whom were powerhouses above level 30!

”So they really are from this place?! What are the chances!!” one hulking man said with gritted teeth. He was both amused and surprised, and he looked at them as if they were prey

”Where did they come from, though? And what took them so long?”

”I assume they camped elsewhere. It couldn’t have been easy travelling with such a massive crowd.”

Another person, a tall, thin man, stepped next to him. He licked his lips with a creepy expression on his face. ”In any case, this means they really tricked the Lord—heh! We’ll get so much money from this.”

The slaves here recognized some of them and reacted, some outright losing their knees in hopelessness.

They were very much traumatized and although they had seen Alterra’s prowess, the fear in their hearts was deeply etched.

It was Gale who stepped forward and glared at the newcomers. ”That is Mes and Len,” he said. ”They’re powerhouses there.”

Many other former slaves also looked at their attackers, feeling fear again. They had just started to recover from the trauma, but that was ripped apart almost immediately by their appearance.

As elementalist slaves, they underwent very harsh training and were thrown in arenas. Oftentimes, they would fight against mercenaries like this, often those around 10 levels higher than they were!!

”Those are some of the leading fighters of the Yesno mercenary team!”

”There are also people from the Rable mercenary team!”

The Voumi fighters were against thousands of people, but they had the confidence to attack because their members were mostly mid-level 20s, and they had hundreds of level 30s with them!

There was even a Level 40, though he was very elderly and only looked down on everyone as if they were beneath him, not bothering to talk at all.

This amount of powerhouses was not far from the number of people they’d mobilize in wars!

Similarly, the enemies also studied them.

”Oh, they’re not weak,” Mes, the level 35 and the leader of the Yesno mercenary team, looked at the poor cluster in front of him. ”I thought the Lord was overreacting when he sent so many of us.”

Mafo actually sent so many strongmen not only to study Alterra without a problem, but mostly to intimidate them.

Anyway, as long as most of these people didn’t attack within the walls, then he wouldn’t be penalized and prematurely start a war—at least not until he had a clearer idea of that place’s capabilities.

Mafo wanted to put them in place. How dare a new Town try to order him around? Naturally, he had to send a show of power.

The old man narrowed their eyes on them. ”My target is the buyer. Where is he? If you don’t want to die, tell me.”

”Who is the master? If we kill him, then we’d get the slaves, right?”

If a slave was not associated with a territory, then they were associated with an owner. If that owner died, or if that territory fell, then the slaves would go to whoever defeated them.

”It’s a man named Enok...”

At this, the real Enok flinched and shivered. Ah, damnit.

Those slaves weren’t even named under him yet he was the one with the target on his back.

Speaking of this, Otto managed to buy slaves without revealing his name by simply being vague using ”I” and the Voumi men didn’t question it because they just wanted to get rid of the sick slaves.

”How did they even pull it off?”

”We’ll figure it out—just force it out of them!”

Mao and the others prepared themselves for the upcoming battle. They were all past level 20 and elementalists so it wasn’t like they’d be helpless.

However, it’d be dangerous, especially when they entered the scope of the town and they might encounter more troublesome mobs.

Anyway, Mao, Minko, and the other soldiers stepped forward, ready to bear the brunt of the attack. Those who were of above average strength like Fos, Esias, and the others, also stepped forward, prepared to fight.

This made the slaves’ eyes flicker. After all, after so many months, they had been used to being the vanguard and/or the meat shields.

”We are thousands of people here—mostly elementalists. Why are you so confident?”

”You’re the ones who attacked first,” Mes said. ”Anyway, we now know you fooled The Lord Mafo, and he would definitely not let this go regardless.

”Now, if you don’t want to be hunted down, just come with us, get punished a bit, but at least you’d keep your lives.”

”In exchange, show me Enok...”

They couldn’t find the ”Enok” who had dealt with Mafo. ”Is he not here?”

At the standstill, the old man felt very annoyed. ”I don’t have time for this...” he said, emitting his aura that caused many weaker Terrans to fall down.

This made Mes and the others laugh out loud. ”Eh, don’t make our ancestor angry!”

The old man seemed impatient and appeared next to the most well-built carriage. This made many people flinch, surprised at his speed. However, the soldiers didn’t move, just focused on blocking the rest of the forces.

The old man opened the door, preparing to attack whoever was inside. However, before he could release an attack, he felt extreme danger, and he instinctively stepped back, barely avoiding a tight grasp.

The next thing he knew, strong winds appeared and pushed him to a tree.

BANG!!

”You—” he gasped, and saw a handsome man surrounded by a more intense aura than him.

This time, it was he who appeared right in front of him, and the old man gasped when he felt his neck being clenched.

Otto looked at him with dark eyes. ”It’s time to retire now.”

Crack!
