After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World

Trigger Warning: Dunno if drug use is a trigger for some, but it’s here, and will be a part of several chaps moving forward.

Hesso nodded. ”That better not change or I... don’t know what I will do.”

Silence passed by.

”He wouldn’t dare, right?” Surut mumbled. ”A lot of my elders were supporters of the previous Lord and they had been dissatisfied with how Lord Mafo had been handling things.”

There was little sense of loyalty among the nobles here, of course, but what they did see was money and benefits.

Under Mafo’s reign, a lot of that had grown stagnant, and they naturally didn’t like it.

”Naive!” The acne-filled Langot added with a sneer. As the son of a merchant and someone actively helping his father, he was exposed to a few more things. ”If I were you, I would start building up my power in case there’s a conflict.”

This turned the conversation a bit more somber, but at the same time, they couldn’t do much but talk to friends and relatives. They couldn’t go about it too openly either.

It was here that Langot leaned over with a sly smile. Misha cringed a bit at the sight of him. Since she last saw him a few days back, a lot seemed to have changed with him.

He felt a little darker and more... unpredictable.

”I got something interesting that could really get people on our side—no, dependent on us.”

This made everyone’s back straighten as he took out a bag in his space. He folded it so that the mouth was small and poured out some of the powder to form a line.

As he did so, he also provided more information. ”A merchant approached me for a deal,” he said. ”I tried it on slaves at first and saw how happy they were and got curious.”

”It’s a little addicting, and I for one, would be willing to pay a lot for a bit—imagine others?”

The rest of the group stared at the item, a little confused. ”White powder?”

”Is this sugar or salt?” another asked, narrowing his eyes at the white line. Sugar and salt were indeed good resources!

Langot shook his head. ”No. It’s better.”

He grinned, making his eyebags a bit more prominent. ”This is amazing. It brings you to another world—I tell you!”

Surut took a finger and dabbed it on the powder to taste. ”It tastes weird,” he said. ”A little acrid and bitter. I don’t see why people would want this.”

The others curiously grabbed a taste as well.

However, they said this, but they end up tasting a bit more.

Langot chuckled, and it felt a little creepy. ”It’s better if you snort it. Gets to the head faster, less waste.”

He took out a small piece of papyrus and rolled it up, inhaling it. He shut his eyes and his body squirmed oddly. His expression was like he had just had the best food he had had in years.

No, an orgasm.

Seeing their friend like this got Hesso and the others even more curious.

At first, they were very tentative. It just felt... unnatural to have powder there, and many of them coughed from their nose. Langout quickly pinched their noses though, yelling at them not to waste anything.

They almost fought with him then until... it felt a little tingly. Then their body felt good, like having sex. Someone even pulled his woman and ripped her dress to shreds, taking her in front of everyone with an improved libido.

”So good... so good...!”

Misha stared at what was going on with wide eyes. She did have an inkling when the man was describing it, and the powder itself seemed familiar.

Although their family had gone clean, their education still made them aware of many things involving the outside.

Drugs!!

One man started it and everyone started following. Hesso—whose expression was extremely lustful, turned to her. He stood up and she stepped back, but he quickly grabbed onto her.

”You must feel so lonely, all your friends are gone... let me comfort you.”

It was a well-known fact that Misha had friends among the ’sick slaves’ so no one thought much at first. However, Hesso, as someone who couldn’t bear to part with her, noticed her absences more than others.

”N-No... y-you want someone else, don’t you?” Misha hurriedly asked, using her ability—not holding back at all.

”Eh, I want you!”

Her eyes widened.

Somehow, the drugs made him completely immune to her abilities.

Why?

Did two psychedelics cancel each other out?

Her heart stopped and her blood turned cold. While she was embraced, her mind was whirling in thought of how to get out of this.

Fortunately, the door opened abruptly, revealing panic-striken servants. ”SIR!”

Slap!

”Didn’t I tell you not to interrupt me when I’m having fun, HUH!?”

The messenger groaned in pain, trying to stand up. But the drug-addled Hesso was even more violent than usual. He kicked the poor messenger a few more times in his annoyance.

Fortunately, the messenger’s level was not low so he managed to keep his life (for now). ”I... the Lord has announced his wedding,” he said, coughing. Hesso’s feet paused, but the servant didn’t have the time to feel relieved.

Hesso cursed at the implication. Official weddings, especially of nobles, carried a lot of meaning. If that child ended up being a boy—

”DAMNIT!”

Bang!

And the servant didn’t get up again after that.

He turned to her, and Misha felt her body shiver in fear. ”Now, where did we leave off?”

He walked over to her, but then felt dizzy and fell down.

Flop!

He was not getting up, completely passed out, likely from the combination of the strong alcohol and the drugs.

It took several minutes before Misha felt reassured that he really wouldn’t wake up for a while.

At the realization, her legs immediately lost strength and she fell down on the floor with a flop.

She covered her face.

What could she do now?
