After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World

”Don’t underestimate this kid. He looks like he can’t take on a Gugu bird, but in fact... this kid... is actually a rare sand user!”

This made quite a few people whisper among themselves, interested in an unusual element. Many of them were also prepared to put extra gold to obtain him.

What a rare element! Not to mention, since the kid was young, he could still be molded well!

Sand was a variant of earth. Theoretically, sand was light and could float. If one were to think of its power, it should be like creating the effect of wind but also the solidness of earth.

However, it was notoriously difficult to control and most sand users never really grew to be as useful as what they were worth or what was spent on them.

Regardless, even if they hadn’t heard it used well, there was prestige in rarity.

Even Mafo wasn’t planning on selling this kid. However, there were a few city nobles who actually came and he knew that only selling weak and typical Elementalists—especially those with low potential—might not impress them.

There was even one he did not recognize, a man he did not invite. He had a strong aura, however. He had rare spectacles from Crystal City and had long peach-colored hair extending to the back.

More importantly, he was already Level 40 at a young age, so Mafo knew he was from a Big City! He was determined to find out more!

Anyway, Mafo didn’t want to be embarrassed and wanted to make a connection, so he had to sell the kid! Hopefully, to this mysterious person who... was also a Sand user!

Anyway, even if the kid had Class B potential, Mafo didn’t know any sand user and he doubted he’d be so useful in Voumi, especially when he looked so weak and was actually quite sickly. It’d be more likely he’d die out of nowhere and, by then, Mafo would only regret not selling him sooner.

This was why Mafo thought it was more practical to earn a lot of gold and connections through him!

Milo had no idea he was part of so many schemes. He just sobbed as he stood on the stage, a lot of eyes leering at him.

”Minimum bid: 70 Gold!”

”72 Gold!”

”76 Gold!”

”80 Gold!”

”100 Gold!”

”100 Gold 50 Silver!”

”105 Gold!”

”150 Gold!”

This made everyone pause and turn to the buyer. Mafo smirked when he realized it was the buyer!

Eian blinked and stared, gathering his wits several moments later! ”Sold for 150 Gold! To the gentleman from...?”

The man didn’t answer. Eian felt awkward but realized the man was not planning on announcing his home city, so he could only clap and congratulate him.

He grabbed Milo’s shoulder as he escorted him to the other servants.Sadly he had no idea who this person was, a late addition, so he could not provide any tips for the young kid.

”...I’m sorry, Kid,” was all he said, gently pressing the boy’s frail shoulder. ”I’ll pray for your safety.”

...

The party and auction ended with another feast. This time, it was more than just snacks but proper meals.

The meals were set up on a grand hall inside the Lord’s Palace. While the guests ate, a certain Lord, his nephew, and their closest cronies watched the crowd from the mezzanine.

The guests had varying expressions on their faces as they ate the food. He sneered, but he understood that the higher-level towns and those from cities didn’t seem too impressed. He spent a fortune here, but all he could expect was for them not to get disgusted.

As for the lower and weaker Towns though, they had varying expressions. Most were impressed—and rightfully so—but a few, surprisingly, seemed to just be eating to get it over with!

Arrogant bastards—

They were also Level 1 Towns, right? They should be honored he invited them here, and only because they were so far South of him!

Before he could get angrier, his nephew—who had been speaking with the person handling the slave money—exclaimed.

”We really made a lot of money, Uncle!” Hesso exclaimed, pulling his attention. Then, he grinned, turning to one of the tables in the banquet hall. ”Do you think you can introduce me to that new City noble?”

Mafo didn’t answer immediately, and he just turned his head to stare at the table.

The tables were designed for eight to ten people. In this mysterious man’s table, there was only him. Considering his level and the levels of the two guards standing next to him—both past level 40—no one dared to dine with him at all.

The bespectacled young man was characterized by the unapproachable air around him. He ate quietly with his back straight, as if indifferent to his surroundings.

”It is kind of you to stay here for the banquet, Master,” one of the guards said. ”The food... it seems very poor. Even commoners in our City eat better than this.”

The man did not say anything for a while and just ate the bit of food he accepted from the servers. ”Has the boy been arranged?” he said after a while.

The guard nodded, knowing his master was referring to the young and weak slave he just purchased.

The other guard did not speak and just watched their surroundings, using his aura to shoo away anyone who was shameless enough to try and approach.

They were like this when they didn’t even know where the master is from, one could imagine how annoying it would be when they did.

The Young Master was from the Glen family, which was a mid-upper level noble clan in Holt City.

It was not ranked among the top in Holt City, but a mid-tier family in Holt could easily be considered high nobles in most other cities in terms of wealth and connections.

And, because they weren’t an apex family, some people thought they could be more approachable, which often put the young master in positions he found annoying. As guards, it had been their job to scare people away when he wasn’t in the mood to talk.

Holt City was the main territory related to food and spices in the entire Human realm. They also had hundreds of subsidiaries focusing on specific plants. Connection with cities meant connection with their resources, including their subsidiaries. Many people had always hoped to tap into that.

Nobles in Holt generally had a few subsidiaries connected to them. Basically, if one didn’t have Lords as direct relatives—if the patriarch didn’t have a few children or nephews owning their own territories—then chances were: the family wouldn’t even reach the noble tier in Holt City.

The Glen Family... was among the top in this way, owning dozens of subsidiaries associated with them. With the talents shown by the current generation, many people predicted the Glen family would experience an unprecedented rise.

That said, the reason they ended up here—in a small town so far away from their City—was mostly coincidence. The Young Master was literally just visiting one of their more distant subsidiaries when he came across the news from this place.

The guards couldn’t help but send another look at their young master, who had always been known for being mysterious.

What could he be planning this time?
