Beast Taming Clan: I Have a Jade Book

Chapter 279: Chapter 273: Small Victory

Currently, all of Ye Jingcheng’s Five Poison Bees are about the size of thumbs, with tail stingers underneath that are deep black, seemingly ready to drip poison at any moment.

About a hundred Five Poison Bees formed a small chongyun in the air.

All of them buzzing with a long, sharp hum.

“The Ye Family truly deserves its reputation as a Spirit Beast Family. Ye Daoist, are your Five Poison Bees already at the Late Stage of First Tier?” On the other side, Wan Hongchang’s eyes flashed with a glimmer of light.

Ordinary Five Poison Bees are usually between Mid-stage First Tier and Late Stage of First Tier, but at a glance, it was clear Ye Jingcheng’s Five Poison Bees had undergone special training.

Moreover, their toxins were far stronger than typical Five Poison Bees, and their ferocity was extraordinary as well.

However, as an Insect Control Expert himself, he naturally wouldn’t be intimidated.

You could see him reach towards the storage bag at his waist, and a large group of Black-winged Scorpions soon appeared in the air.

These Black-winged Scorpions looked just like ordinary scorpions but each was the size of a palm, and they had a pair of black insect wings.

The insect wings moved, revealing only a layer of black Spirit Shadow.

The toxicity of these Black-winged Scorpions matched that of the Five Poison Bees, and their combat power was similarly matched.

Furthermore, Ye Jingcheng noticed that the stingers of these Black-winged Scorpions were larger and sharper than those of ordinary scorpions.

Clearly, these Black-winged Scorpions were also carefully selected and specially trained.

Wan Hongchang only released eighty of them.

Not a hundred, obviously he intended to give Ye Jingcheng some leeway.

“Wan Daoist, these Black-winged Scorpions are truly the regal Spirit Insects. Today Ye Jingcheng is truly enlightened.” At this moment, Ye Jingcheng was not stingy with his praise.

Even if underestimated, he wouldn’t get angry.

Because the hundred or so Five Poison Bees he released were also among his reserves, just a suboptimal batch, he wouldn’t feel bad even if he lost them all.

He estimated that his opponent felt the same way.

The ’duel’ in ’insect duel’ was enough to prove that this insect battle was quite amicable.

“Ye Daoist, aren’t you sending out a Queen Bee?” Wan Hongchang inquired.

“The Queen Bee just finished breeding, forgive my shortcomings!” Ye Jingcheng shook his head, revealing a slightly embarrassed look.

Wan Hongchang nodded as well. After the two agreed several times, the latter summoned an array.

The two insect swarms immediately flew out.

Under Ye Jingcheng’s arrangement, the Five Poison Bees were divided into ten formations, with the first five formations taking turns firing tail stingers at the Black-winged Scorpions.

A flurry of tail stingers downed quite a few Black-winged Scorpions at the front, directly hitting their eyes or shell joints, sending them into an illusion realm, thrashing blindly among the swarm.

Since this was just magical combat, this batch of Ye Jingcheng’s Five Poison Bees were of the Zi Huan poison, non-lethal.

In just one round, many of the vanguard Black-winged Scorpions fell.

Fortunately, this batch of Wan Hongchang’s Black-winged Scorpions was equally robust. Faced with the crazily thrashing scorpions, they decisively killed their kin, which greatly impressed Ye Jingcheng.

The speed of the insect swarm was completely unaffected.

And Ye Jingcheng’s Five Poison Bees, which had fired their tail stingers, gradually slowed down, falling to the rear.

The tail stingers of the Five Poison Bees could reform but required some time.

Falling to the rear allowed more time to reforge stingers, while those at the front could engage the Black-winged Scorpions head-on.

Moreover, just as they were about to close in, ten of Ye Jingcheng’s Five Poison Bees fired stingers again, hitting several leading Black-winged Scorpions in the front.

At such close range, with Ye Jingcheng’s control, nearly every stinger hit the eyes or joints of the Black-winged Scorpions.

Seven or eight were hit, starting to spin chaotically, while the remaining forty unharmed Five Poison Bees took advantage of the chaos to charge into the Black-winged Scorpion swarm.

Such a meticulous plan caused significant losses to the Black-winged Scorpions in an instant.

However, once the Five Poison Bees intertwined with the Black-winged Scorpions, the latter’s advantages became apparent.

The Five Poison Bees lacked a shell, while the Black-winged Scorpions had one, making the stingers unable to penetrate easily.

They could only sting and bite at the heads and wings of the Black-winged Scorpions.

Soon about forty percent of the Five Poison Bees were lost.

Wan Hongchang’s face gradually turned rosy, as the initial losses had indeed been hard on his pride.

Ye Jingcheng’s control over his Five Poison Bee swarm was certainly beyond his imagination.

“Scatter!” Seeing it was almost over, Ye Jingcheng ordered the Five Poison Bees to disperse again.

Their wings, flying with both auxiliary and primary wings, surpassed the speed of the Black-winged Scorpions significantly.

Once at a safe distance, they fired tail stingers like at the beginning, preventing the Black-winged Scorpions from regrouping and forming a devastating insect array.

This allowed the remaining Five Poison Bees to attack again.

As time passed, not many Five Poison Bees were left, nor were there many Black-winged Scorpions.

A rough stalemate formed in the air.

Of course, as the number of Five Poison Bees dwindled, the Black-winged Scorpions had the upper hand in one-on-one situations.

“Ye Daoist’s skills in Insect Control are truly impressive. I concede.” Wan Hongchang cupped his hands, stopping the Black-winged Scorpions from attacking the Five Poison Bees again.

Instead, he waved, recalling the remaining Black-winged Scorpions, while also collecting the wounded ones that had fallen.

“Wan Daoist is too humble.” Ye Jingcheng responded politely, without saying much more, also gathering his Five Poison Bees.

His words had a dual meaning, allowing Wan Hongchang to maintain face however he interpreted them.

Moreover, Ye Jingcheng indeed had some reservations. From the start, he only needed to continuously create chaos with tail stingers, charge, retreat, create chaos again, and charge once more.

By relying on speed repeatedly, rather than entangling briefly before retreating, he could have won earlier.

However, doing so would undoubtedly have been damaging to Wan Hongchang’s reputation.

It would affect his purchase of Stone Spirits.

As Ye Jingcheng collected the Five Poison Bees, he realized that only seven or eight had died, the rest were merely injured, their toxins non-lethal.

Clearly, the opponent’s Black-winged Scorpions were not the most venomous kind either.

For Ye Jingcheng, this was not a small piece of good news. With Treasure Light, he was confident in fully recovering these injured Five Poison Bees within a few days.

“The Ye Family’s Insect Control Skills truly impress me. Wan Daoist will deliver on his promise, and deduct ten percent from today’s price for Ye Daoist.” Wan Hongchang spoke, gesturing for Ye Jingcheng to choose.

“Thank you, Wan Daoist. In that case, I’ll select two Tier One High-Grade Green Water Scorpions and two Tier One High-Grade Black Jade Toads. I hope Daoist can provide a pair, and the rest is the formula for Celestial Poison Water and these Spirit Stones.” Ye Jingcheng said.

The price of these poisonous insects was up to five hundred each, clearly still possessing the ability to reproduce.

Otherwise, adult Spirit Insects would not be so expensive.

“Alright, no problem, Black Jade Toads and Green Water Scorpions are five hundred Spirit Stones each, the Celestial Poison Water formula is a Tier One High-Grade Secret Technique worth one thousand three hundred Spirit Stones, and the stone, weighing over seventy pounds, is worth up to one thousand seven hundred Spirit Stones. After deducting ten percent for you, it totals four thousand five hundred Spirit Stones.” Wan Hongchang said.

“Great!” Ye Jingcheng nodded, then took out a storage bag, and handed over the Spirit Stones on the spot.
