Apocalyptic Disaster: The King of Soldiers' Ultimate Pampering

214: Chapter 214 Human Nature and the Human HeartYe Qingqing looked at the two of them, a strange feeling inexplicably rising in her heart. Their relationship had seemed unusual before, and seeing them now, Ye Qingqing felt even more certain.

However, as for how things would develop further, that would depend on Kong Ziyi and Mo Wangchuan themselves.

”Let’s go, there’s still a lot to do.” Huo Sixian glanced at Ye Qingqing and spoke.

”Mm.” Ye Qingqing nodded and followed Huo Sixian.

After Ye Qingqing stepped out of the cabin and looked at everything before her, a sense of heaviness filled her heart.

The land where the Official Base originally stood had now completely fallen to the Black Worms.

The place where Ye Qingqing and the others were now was a rocky layer that humans would never have chosen as a residence before.

It had been three days since Mo Wangchuan fainted.

Ye Qingqing’s group had only just reunited with Kong Ziyi.

However, Ye Qingqing had not yet found Ah Huang, Deng Jiayu, and the others.

As Ye Qingqing and Huo Sixian walked out of the cabin, they questioned the people around them.

”Have you found Professor Deng?”

The people nearby were all Ability Users and Soldiers.

They were part of the first batch to evacuate with Deng Jiayu’s group, but there were too many people here, and without walkie-talkies, it was impossible to contact Deng Jiayu and the others.

Kong Ziyi had also told Ye Qingqing earlier that he had arrived here first but hadn’t encountered Deng Jiayu’s group.

He hadn’t even seen a sign of Ah Huang.

Initially, Ye Qingqing just thought this place was too large and that the helicopter Deng Jiayu and the others were on had taken a longer route.

It would be fine if she just waited.

After all, this evacuation site was something Kong Ziyi had found at the very beginning, and the remaining aircraft were able to find it through the Positioning and Navigation System Deng Jiayu had developed.

But now, all the planes had arrived safely except for the one carrying Deng Jiayu, Pei Siyuan, and the others.

Ye Qingqing’s expression instantly became solemn.

She couldn’t help but take a step back, her face turning deathly pale.

Huo Sixian acted first, steadily supporting Ye Qingqing by her waist.

”Qingqing, it’s okay. Grandfather and the others should be nearby. Grandma Deng’s research never fails, don’t worry.”

Hearing Huo Sixian’s words, Ye Qingqing nodded on the surface to show she understood, but in reality, she was not at ease.

”Let’s go look for them, Huo Sixian. What if... what if Grandma and the others...”

Ye Qingqing didn’t finish her sentence; she was afraid that if she spoke the words, they might come true.

The world was not peaceful these days, and anything could happen.

But why did it have to be the plane carrying Deng Jiayu and the others that met with such an incident...

”No, I’m worried. I have to go look for them.”

But as soon as Ye Qingqing spoke, Huo Sixian became reluctant.

”Qingqing, now is not the time to be headstrong. I know you’re worried about Grandma and the others, but I am too; my grandfather is on that plane as well.”

”Qingqing, the survivors at the base haven’t stabilized yet. If you leave now and something happens, where would I even go to find you?”

”Isn’t Ah Huang on that plane too?”

”Can’t you trust Ah Huang?”

Huo Sixian’s words were very earnest, but listening to them, Ye Qingqing felt uncomfortable.

She knew Huo Sixian meant well, but she truly could not stop worrying about Deng Jiayu and the others.

”No, Huo Sixian, I’m going to find Grandma and the others. You can stay here for these people, but I can’t. I don’t have any lofty ambitions or plans to save humanity. I just want my family to be safe.”

Huo Sixian looked at Ye Qingqing, wanting to say more, but in the end, he just gazed at her calmly.

”Fine, I’ll go with you.”

However, Ye Qingqing refused him.

”No, you must stay here. There are more important things waiting for you to do.”

”Look at the surroundings. It’s not just people from the Official Base here; there are survivors from other bases too. Everyone is gathered here.”

”If you leave and something happens here, what then?”

”Don’t worry, I have my space and my own ways to stay safe. I’ve never been some Miss Jiao Jiao raised in a greenhouse.”

The surrounding environment couldn’t be called good; in fact, it was quite harsh.

But only here would those Black Worms not burrow out from the ground.

The surroundings were still a sea of blood-red.

It was daytime, so the blood-red sky didn’t look nearly as heavy; instead, some parts of the sky carried a faint pinkish hue.

At first glance, it looked very much like the morning sun before the Post-Apocalyptic World.

If one ignored the surrounding sighs of sorrow, this place could almost be considered a good vacation spot.

But everyone knew that beneath this beautiful scenery lay even more dangers.

Ye Qingqing was right; the people here weren’t just survivors from the Official Base.

Many planes from various places were congregating here.

The flow of people was extremely complex.

This situation was very much like the earliest territorial divisions of humanity.

If Huo Sixian left at this time...

Then for the people of the Official Base, it would mean losing a major pillar of support.

So under these circumstances, Huo Sixian absolutely could not leave.

As for Ye Qingqing, she wasn’t like Huo Sixian; her freedom wasn’t restricted in the same way, so she could do what she wanted.

Huo Sixian stared at Ye Qingqing for a long time.

Finally, he slowly uttered: ”Stay safe.”

Ye Qingqing gave him a reassuring look: ”Don’t worry, I’ll return safely.”

Huo Sixian raised his hand, though in his heart he desperately did not want her to leave.

But he knew he couldn’t trap her. He loved Ye Qingqing, but she was her own person.

Before leaving, Ye Qingqing left a significant amount of supplies for Huo Sixian.

This included many tents, backpacks, and the like.

Inside were also plenty of compressed biscuits and other things to fill the stomach.

Ye Qingqing even left two recreational vehicles for Huo Sixian.

As for anything else, she didn’t take them out before a Main Camp was established.

Because if there were too many supplies, it would only invite war.

That was human nature.

In this environment, the things Ye Qingqing trusted least were human nature and the human heart.

Ye Qingqing told no one when she left; only Huo Sixian knew.

Huo Sixian stood where he was, watching the direction she had gone, his eyes revealing deep concern.

It wasn’t until long after Ye Qingqing had piloted the plane and wobbled away into the high altitude that Huo Sixian finally snapped out of it.

However, Ye Qingqing, high in the sky, was not having an easy time.

She had been sweating with anxiety the whole time.
