Apocalyptic Disaster: The King of Soldiers' Ultimate Pampering

208: Chapter 28 TragedyAs for the skin shed by that person, the moment it hit the ground, it was corroded by the stench of the Black Worms, gradually turning into a pool of bloody water that merged into the earth.

Shock flickered in both Ye Qingqing and Huo Sixian’s eyes.

They could have imagined these Black Worms eating people, but they never expected this.

That human death would ultimately occur in such a manner.

Huo Sixian stood frozen in place for a long time, unable to snap out of it, watching as those Black Worms that had just finished devouring the previous person began heading toward them.

Ye Qingqing acted quickly, dragging Huo Sixian away.

“Huo Sixian! Pull yourself together!”

“Huo Sixian!”

As Ye Qingqing dragged Huo Sixian along, she activated her Superpower to isolate the worms.

After being dazed for a few seconds, Huo Sixian regained his senses.

Without saying a word, he joined the rescue operation.

However, the situation in the base was now far more cruel than Huo Sixian and the others had imagined.

Along the way, Huo Sixian and Ye Qingqing didn’t encounter any survivors, but the pools of blood on the ground told everyone that things were far from simple.

Moreover, even worse things were yet to come.

While Huo Sixian and Ye Qingqing were searching for survivors, they suddenly heard a rustling sound coming from the outer wall of the base.

“It’s zombies!”

Panic flickered in Huo Sixian’s tone.

Because the sound at this moment was clearly the roar that only zombies could make.

“This is bad...”

Ye Qingqing muttered to herself.

But the speed of their feet did not decrease in the slightest.

They hadn’t met up with the main group yet; if they were surrounded by zombies now, with internal troubles and external threats, they would likely die here.

Ye Qingqing took out an electric scooter from her space.

Driving a car was no longer a wise choice at this time.

Just the process of taking the car out and getting into it would be too slow.

The tires would be devoured by those Black Worms.

So if they wanted to be fast now, they could only ride an electric scooter.

Ye Qingqing sat at the front of the scooter, while Huo Sixian sat in the back.

Ye Qingqing couldn’t care about much else; as long as Huo Sixian could clear the path, she could charge through.

Of course, Ye Qingqing also surrounded the scooter with a ring of metal partitions.

This was to prevent those disgusting Black Worms from leaping onto the vehicle while she and Huo Sixian weren’t paying attention.

Huo Sixian threw fireballs with one hand and smashed metal plates with the other.

He didn’t dare relax for even a moment.

On Ye Qingqing’s side, she twisted the handle to the limit.

They were moving at full speed.

The surrounding sky was getting redder; if the previous floods, storms, and high temperatures were just appetizers,

Then the current insect plague was the true main course of the Post-Apocalyptic World.

Ye Qingqing even felt that those who died in the floods and heat before weren’t actually in that much pain.

At least it was much easier than being gnawed by ten thousand insects.

“Qingqing, there seems to be someone to the front-left.”

Huo Sixian faintly heard the footsteps of someone moving to the front-left, and there was light there, so he spoke up to alert Ye Qingqing.

Actually, Ye Qingqing had seen it too, but she wasn’t certain yet.

Hearing Huo Sixian’s words, Ye Qingqing became more sure.

She drove directly toward the front-left.

Looking in that direction, Ye Qingqing felt that the blue light was somewhat familiar.

Sure enough.

As Ye Qingqing rode the scooter closer, she saw Zuo Yuxing.

Zuo Yuxing’s Superpower was Astral Power; at this moment, his entire body was shrouded in a halo of Blue Starlight.

He looked exceptionally ethereal amidst the blood-colored surroundings.

Those worms seemed to be very afraid of this Blue Starlight halo. Zuo Yuxing reached out, casting his Superpower orbs to cover the ground.

In the places covered by Zuo Yuxing’s Superpower, those Black Worms would not appear.

However, Zuo Yuxing could only manage to use his Superpower while moving.

Once Zuo Yuxing left and the ground was no longer covered by his Superpower, those Black Worms would reappear.

When Zuo Yuxing saw Ye Qingqing, a bright smile hung on the corners of his mouth.

Even in this situation, Zuo Yuxing maintained a warm smile.

It made Ye Qingqing’s heart feel warm.

But compared to Zuo Yuxing, Huo Sixian behind Ye Qingqing was not like that.

Huo Sixian had a sour face, as if the whole world owed him something.

At the same time, he was grumbling quietly in his heart: “It would have been better if we hadn’t come just now.”

When Ye Qingqing saw Zuo Yuxing, the two didn’t exchange pleasantries; Ye Qingqing simply took another electric scooter from her space and tossed it to Zuo Yuxing.

Neither of them spoke, but Zuo Yuxing immediately understood Ye Qingqing’s meaning.

His movement of mounting the scooter was smooth and fluid.

The entire process took no more than three seconds.

Then he set off together with Ye Qingqing.

However, after Zuo Yuxing got on the scooter, he directly cast a halo of Blue Starlight onto the scooter Ye Qingqing was on.

Ye Qingqing and Huo Sixian suddenly felt a very cool current of warmth around them, and then they saw it was the Blue Starlight cast by Zuo Yuxing.

Huo Sixian let out a cold snort from his nose, but he didn’t stop the Blue Starlight Zuo Yuxing had cast.

After all, once Zuo Yuxing’s Blue Starlight was cast, the Black Worms in the vicinity directly avoided the position of the scooter Ye Qingqing and Huo Sixian were on.

This also allowed Huo Sixian to temporarily breathe a sigh of relief, without having to constantly throw fireballs.

“Zuo Yuxing, do you know where the others are?”

Hearing Huo Sixian’s words, Zuo Yuxing’s normally serene brows instantly furrowed.

“To the east.”

“But there aren’t many survivors left. Mo Wangchuan and a few of my men are looking after the remaining survivors; Meng Hangfei from your team is also there.”

“And that Tiger-type Ability User who just arrived at the base.”

Mo Wangchuan? Hearing Zuo Yuxing’s words, he sensed something was wrong.

“Only these few people?”

“Where are the others?”

Zuo Yuxing fell into silence.

As for the others, he didn’t know either.

Maybe they were eaten by the Black Worms, or maybe they escaped on their own.

Who could know?

The entire base was in a state of total chaos.

In just a few moments, the last Official Base established by humanity had simply vanished.

And it had vanished without a trace.

The surrounding buildings had all been devoured by the Black Worms.

But no one could stop it; they didn’t even know how to stop it.

While Ye Qingqing’s group of three were riding their scooters, many helicopters flew overhead.

Most of them belonged to the Army.

Ye Qingqing had a rough guess in her heart.

Those who could escape, like Deng Jiayu, Pei Siyuan, and Huo Cunsheng, had already left long ago.

Those still in the base, besides the rescuers, were the unarmed ordinary survivors who had no way to escape.

A sense of desolation suddenly rose in Ye Qingqing’s heart.
