Hidden Marriage, Overbearing Love: Mr! Please Let Me Go

Chapter 798: Chapter 799: Afraid of Infecting You

After the doctor gave Xia Qingqian an antipyretic injection, he prescribed some medicine. He then turned to Beitang Yao, who was standing by the bed, and said, ”Young Master, Miss Xia cannot come into contact with alcohol. Whenever she does, she will have a high fever that won’t subside.”

This Beitang Huan was always causing trouble, leading to Xia Qingqian’s body being covered with red rashes and a fever. It looked like their return to the castle would be delayed for several more days.

Beitang Yao listened, his handsome eyebrows slightly furrowed. He wanted to say something but didn’t know what to say, his gaze continuously fixed on Xia Qingqian.

After the injection, her complexion improved somewhat. He had a servant escort the doctor out and then, not going anywhere himself, quietly sat in the study, arranging some matters.

He turned off his computer, walked to the opposite sofa, and lay down for a while.

Until a servant knocked and entered, saying, ”Young Master, Miss Xia is awake.”

He had the servant bring the prepared meals into the room and then carried a bowl of millet porridge, personally feeding her.

”I’ll do it myself!” Xia Qingqian reached out to take the bowl from his hand, but her hand kept trembling.

Beitang Yao gave her a sidelong glance, ”With your hands shaking like this, how can you eat by yourself?”

”Open your mouth—” he commanded. Xia Qingqian had no choice but to open her mouth and take the porridge he offered.

”Did I allow you to lock the door?” He put down the bowl, his tone still cold.

If she didn’t give him a reason, he would surely punish her harshly once she recovered!

”Young Master Yao, I’m scared...”

”Scared of what? Speak—” he frowned.

”I’m scared of transmitting my illness to you.” I’m scared you’ll possess my body like a beast again, she thought secretly in her heart. But what she said contradicted her true feelings, though it brought an inexplicable warmth to Beitang Yao’s ears.

”Rest well these few days. I won’t touch you.” But the calm and intelligent Beitang Yao could see from Xia Qingqian’s embarrassed and fearful expression what she was trying to say. He stood up, intending to leave the room.

After she had dinner, he would let her rest well for a while.

In the following days, since Beitang Yao had fed her and left, Xia Qingqian really hadn’t seen him at all. He kept his promise and didn’t touch her.

Xia Qingqian’s mental state recovered well. Beitang Yao had once ordered her not to take a single step out of there without his permission. As for him personally feeding her porridge, she still felt it was unreal, as if it were her own illusion.

He, who was always cold and ruthless, how could he do such a ridiculous thing? It must be her delusions caused by serious illness.

She had picked some flowers in the back garden, found a vase, arranged the picked flowers in it, and placed them in the living room.

A fluffy creature was nuzzling her ankle, playfully sticking out its tongue, licking her ankle.

After placing the vase, Xia Qingqian squatted down, picked up the fluffy white Bichon Frise, and stroked its fur, petting it gently.

She had found this Bichon Frise outside the garden’s iron fence. The puppy had been placed in a cardboard box by its owner, enduring the scorching sun, looking mournfully at Xia Qingqian under the garden pavilion. Feeling sorry for the pitiful puppy, she had secretly brought it back, hiding it from Beitang Yao.

Perhaps she was so absorbed in playing with the Bichon Frise that she didn’t realize someone had been standing at the door for a long time, watching her intently with a pair of icy, penetrating eyes.

Her smile, imbued with the scent of sunshine, was so radiant and blossoming, making it hard for anyone to look away, irresistibly drawing one’s gaze for a few more moments.
