Hidden Marriage, Overbearing Love: Mr! Please Let Me Go

Chapter 797: Chapter 798: She Just Wants to Play Dead?

The housemaid hurriedly retrieved an ice pack and placed it on Xia Qingqian’s forehead, hoping it would bring her some comfort.

The housemaid used the home’s phone to call Beitang Yao. Even though she knew that Beitang Yao was busiest at this time, she still held out hope and made the call.

But after three calls with no answer, the housemaid grew anxious and quickly put down the phone.

She placed a wet cold towel on Xia Qingqian’s forehead, wrists, and calves, then covered her body with a blanket.

She stayed by Xia Qingqian’s side the whole time, changing the cold compress several times, but still, the fever did not subside.

It wasn’t until noon that Xia Qingqian groggily opened her eyes, her mouth dry and her body weak.

The housemaid didn’t dare to leave the room for a moment, constantly tending to Xia Qingqian. If anything happened to Xia Qingqian, the Young Master would surely fire her.

”Miss Xia, please drink some water.” The housemaid handed her a cup of warm water and finally breathed a sigh of relief, ”You’re finally awake. You scared me to death. Just lie down, you’ll feel better after sweating it out.”

”I’ll go get you some beet juice.” Seeing that Xia Qingqian’s body couldn’t dissipate the heat, the housemaid got up and went to the kitchen, bringing back the prepared beet juice.

When Beitang Yao finished his meeting and returned to the office, he saw the missed calls on his phone, all from the number of that villa.

Did something happen? Why were there so many calls?

He called back, and the housemaid, just coming down from the second floor, quickly answered the phone.

Beitang Yao’s deep voice filled the office, ”What’s happened?”

”What? She’s got a fever?” Beitang Yao’s icy voice came through the receiver, almost flooding the vast villa. Wasn’t she made of steel? How could she fall ill so easily!

”Why didn’t you call 120 and take her to the hospital? If anything happens to her, I’ll have you out on the street!” The torment hasn’t even started, and she already wants to play dead?

”I’ll be back immediately!”

When Beitang Yao heard that Xia Qingqian’s high fever wouldn’t go down, an inexplicable restlessness surged within him. He wished he could be by her side right away.

When that person used to get sick, she too would have a persistent high fever, and only felt better if he stayed by her side to soothe her.

He hung up the phone, rushed out, and ordered the driver to take him back to the villa in the suburbs.

As soon as he got out of the car, he hurried to the second floor, only to find the door locked.

He furiously pounded on the door. ”Xia Qingqian, open the door for me!”

”Why is the door locked?” Beitang Yao turned his cold gaze to the housemaid.

”Young Master, as soon as Miss Xia heard you were coming back, she immediately locked the door,” the housemaid said, head bowed.

His face darkened. Did he look so much like a demon that she had to lock the door upon hearing about his return? ”Everyone, get out of the way!” he shouted angrily, taking a step back and kicking the door open.

When the door swung open, he searched for Xia Qingqian’s figure inside and saw her pale face twisted in pain, which made his heart ache.

All his anger dissipated as he slowly sat by the bed, reaching out to check her temperature. When he felt her burning skin, the heat spread through his hand to his whole body.

Beside him, he heard Xia Qingqian’s faint moans and slurred words.

”Auntie, bring the doctor in,” Beitang Yao called towards the door.
