My Talent Skill Mutated

Amidst a wave of cheers, the celebration drew to a perfect close.

...

After leaving the auditorium, Chen Yu quickly met with the Dean and followed him to his office.

CREAK~

The office door opened, and Chen Yu immediately spotted a man wearing sunglasses.

He was dressed in casual clothes and had long hair. If not for his muscular build, Chen Yu might have mistaken him for a woman.

’This must be the person from the Extraordinary Alliance the Dean mentioned...’

Curiosity flickered in Chen Yu’s eyes as he observed the long-haired man in sunglasses.

The Extraordinary Alliance was a lofty organization. Though he’d heard its name many times, he still knew very little about it.

He had only learned about the internal factions within the Extraordinary Alliance after his recent trip to the Capital City.

Its organizational structure was vast, spanning all nine realms of the Human Race.

Its foundations were unimaginably deep and powerful.

Chen Yu sensed powerful Life Fluctuations radiating from the long-haired man, nearly on par with the Dean’s. The man possessed a potent source of Superpower, marking him as a top-tier Awakened.

”Xiao Tian, this is Chen Yu,” the Dean said with a smile, looking at the long-haired man. He then turned to Chen Yu. ”Chen Yu, this is Xiao Tian from the Extraordinary Alliance—Lord Xiao.”

Their eyes met. As he looked at Chen Yu, the long-haired man removed his sunglasses, fully revealing his face.

’This man...’

Chen Yu was startled when he saw the man’s face after he removed the sunglasses.

The long-haired man was handsome, with a square jaw and sharp, well-defined features. But what was most striking was one of his eyes.

His right eye was normal, but his left was pure black.

It was like a black hole, poised to devour everything.

”A pleasure to meet you, Lord Xiao.” Chen Yu quickly composed himself and spoke.

’Perhaps he was born with an unusual eye. Nothing to be too surprised about.’

”The tournament champion, Chen Yu. I’ve heard your name,” the long-haired man said, looking at him with a smile. ”You’re very impressive.”

”You’re too kind, Lord Xiao,” Chen Yu replied, his tone respectful but not subservient.

”Have a seat, both of you. Don’t just stand there,” the Dean said. Chen Yu and the long-haired man sat on the sofa.

”I’ll get straight to the point. I came to see you for two reasons. First, to meet you in person. Second, to officially welcome you into the Extraordinary Alliance!”

The long-haired man spoke, taking out a round, golden insignia as he did.

It was about half the size of his palm.

”This is your Extraordinary Alliance identification insignia. Your information has already been registered to it.”

”Officially join the Extraordinary Alliance?” Chen Yu was taken aback.

’When had he ever said he wanted to join the Extraordinary Alliance?’

’Even though attending the Superpower Academy meant there was a ninety percent chance he would one day join the Extraordinary Alliance, it wasn’t a guarantee.’

’Besides, he remembered there was supposed to be an assessment to join the Extraordinary Alliance.’

’It wasn’t like just any Tom, Dick, or Harry could join the Extraordinary Alliance.’

’But now, this Xiao Tian had just handed him the identification insignia directly. Chen Yu was well and truly caught off guard.’

’The Dean had only said he was going to meet someone; he hadn’t mentioned anything about this.’

”Ah, Chen Yu, I guess I forgot to mention it,” the Dean said with a broad smile. ”Today is also the day you officially join the Extraordinary Alliance.”

Chen Yu’s brow furrowed slightly.

’He didn’t like being controlled. Joining the Extraordinary Alliance might be the highest honor in the eyes of others, but being roped in like this without any warning left a bad taste in his mouth.’

’He admitted the Extraordinary Alliance was immensely powerful, an unparalleled Extraordinary force for the Human Race. But he knew such a massive organization wasn’t as perfect as it seemed.’

’Especially with the conflicting factions warring within it.’

’Of course, he knew that no organization could be completely monolithic from top to bottom.’

’And for a super-organization like the Extraordinary Alliance, having splintered factions was perfectly normal.’

”What? Are you unwilling?” the long-haired man asked, having noticed Chen Yu’s slight frown.

”Chen Yu, don’t be foolish,” the Dean said in a low voice. ”Joining the Superpower Alliance is the only way for you to go further on your path.”

The long-haired man looked at Chen Yu and explained, ”Normally, this wouldn’t have happened so quickly. It would have taken more time. But your performance in the Capital City was outstanding, so the Alliance decided to make you a member ahead of schedule. It’s not that we didn’t want to inform you—the decision itself was very sudden.”

”What am I required to do as a member of the Superpower Alliance?” Chen Yu asked.

”You don’t have to do anything, unless there’s an urgent mission. Otherwise, things will be the same as always,” the long-haired man said calmly.

”I won’t be sent to the Stellar Battlefield?” Chen Yu asked in surprise.

”...”

”You’re overthinking it. Awakened are not ordinary Martial Artists. We don’t get sent to the Stellar Battlefield lightly.”

”The Stellar Battlefield is primarily handled by the armies of the five major allied nations,” the long-haired man said slowly. ”Of course, there are exceptions for special circumstances.”

”I see...” Chen Yu nodded, understanding now.

’But on second thought, it made sense. If large numbers of Awakened were dispatched to the Stellar Battlefield, the losses in any given war would be staggering.’

’The abilities of the Awakened were wildly diverse, making it difficult to mobilize them in large numbers like a conventional army.’

’At most, they’d be deployed in standard team formations.’

’Then again, the long-haired man had said there were special exceptions.’

’It wasn’t that they never went, just that they wouldn’t under normal circumstances.’

’The Stellar Battlefield was known as the meat grinder of the Ten Thousand Races.’

’When war broke out, the casualties among the Human Race and the Alien Races were beyond imagination.’

Looking at Chen Yu, the long-haired man handed him the Alliance’s insignia.

”There are many benefits to joining the Extraordinary Alliance. With this status, you will face no obstacles traveling throughout the nine realms of the Human Race.”

”Furthermore, Extraordinary Alliance members receive a salary. Starting now, your monthly salary will be one hundred thousand, and you can also collect one hundred Grade-One Spirit Pearls each month.”
