My Talent Skill Mutated

SHIIIIING—!

Qi flooded the body of the blade, making the long saber hum. It felt as if the very air was about to be split in two.

SQUELCH!

The blade sliced through thick fur, and blood spurted out. A Wilderness Wolf was sent flying, crashing to the ground and kicking up a cloud of dust.

”Charge!”

Seeing this, Ma Xiang let out a low roar, gripped his wooden club, and charged forward.

Xu Bo and the other two didn’t retreat either. They gritted their teeth and rushed in.

Two on one!

Although their Qi reserves were low, they had no problem holding on for a little while longer.

Under the threat of death, everyone erupted with astonishing potential.

They had all trained before. Even though they were only at the first level, they still had some strength.

Chen Yu just hoped that if they could take down one Wilderness Wolf, they would secure victory.

Figures dodged and weaved, stirring up clouds of dust.

Roars echoed across the wilderness.

Several hundred meters away, a group of figures dressed in black appeared.

They were all tall, carrying sharp weapons, with guns at their waists—fully armed!

After cresting an earthen slope, the five or six people suddenly stopped, their gazes fixed on the depths of the wilderness.

”Wilderness Wolves!”

The group looked at the three mutant beasts, each tightening their grip on their weapons.

”Captain, are we...?”

One of them started to speak, but before he could finish, the leader raised a hand to cut him off. ”Wait a moment. These people have some skill.”

”That young kid is indeed impressive. He should only be a level-one Martial Artist, yet he can take on a Wilderness Wolf by himself. Tsk tsk, what a promising talent.” A large man in the group spoke, his eyes filled with appreciation.

The others beside him nodded as well.

Taking on a Wilderness Wolf single-handedly with a saber—that was certainly impressive strength.

”Judging by their appearance, they probably escaped from the Crane City Safety Zone too.”

”Making it this far is already impressive enough.”

Another person commented.

”Boss, are we just... going to watch?”

One person couldn’t help but whisper.

The leading captain stared at the battle in the wilderness and said calmly, ”Don’t be hasty.”

SQUELCH!

The moment he finished speaking, several hundred meters away, a sharp glint of a blade flashed. A Wilderness Wolf collapsed to the ground, motionless.

”Nice!”

”This kid’s got some moves.” Watching this, the team members’ eyes lit up.

’Looks like this is in the bag!’

The same thought occurred to all of them.

The others still had a little Qi left and seemed to be level-one Martial Artists. It would be a cold day in hell if they couldn’t win now.

...

Blood dripped from the tip of his saber. The Wilderness Wolf lay motionless on the ground.

Chen Yu took a deep breath, quickly composing himself.

Seeing the fallen Wilderness Wolf, the others’ spirits instantly lifted.

They fought even harder.

Hope was right before their eyes!

With one Wilderness Wolf down and two remaining, there was even less to fear.

SWOOSH!

Chen Yu didn’t stay idle either, raising his saber and charging in.

He used his Qi without reservation, his saber easily piercing the Wilderness Wolf’s hide with a single strike.

With two others providing support while he acted as the main attacker, the fight became much easier.

SQUELCH!

The blade flashed as he poured Qi into it. He swung down with all his might, and a roar of pain erupted.

The cut was deep enough to reveal bone!

SPURT—

He twisted the blade and sliced forcefully. The Wilderness Wolf collapsed to the ground.

”AWOOO—!”

Seeing this, the last Wilderness Wolf let out a roar, then turned to run.

But how could Chen Yu miss a chance to harvest the Source of Life?

He shot forward in a dash to intercept it.

He injected Qi into the blade. The long saber cut through the air, a cold glint flashed, and blood sprayed.

’Using a weapon is so much better than fighting bare-handed.’

BANG!!

Taking advantage of the Wilderness Wolf’s retreat, Chen Yu landed a kick on its body.

At that moment, Ma Xiang also brought his club down hard on the wolf’s head, the impact so jarring it made the webbing of his own hand go numb.

However, it gave Chen Yu a perfect opportunity. He slid forward, his Alloy Long Saber humming as its blade cut through the air.

SPLAT!

The blade fell, nearly severing the Wilderness Wolf’s neck, sending blood gushing.

With a twist of the blade, he delivered another strike, finishing the Wilderness Wolf off for good.

The three Wilderness Wolves lay dead on the ground, the thick stench of blood filling the air.

Everyone was so tired they were panting.

Chen Yu opened his interface to check. This time, the three Wilderness Wolves had given him a full five points of the Source of Life.

This instantly brought his Source of Life total to ten points.

With that, his physical Evolution progress had reached one-tenth!

’At this rate, it doesn’t seem as difficult as I imagined.’

’One physical Evolution, and my strength will increase dramatically.’

’It was a bit difficult at first, but as long as I get through this initial stage, it will be much easier later on.’

Chen Yu was quite looking forward to seeing what changes his second Evolution would bring.

’Did he take some kind of genetic Divine Medicine?’

Watching Chen Yu, Xu Bo and the others were filled with curiosity.

This transformation was truly astonishing. It had only been a little over a day since they last saw him, and he had gone from being on the brink of death to this ferocious. It truly piqued their curiosity.

But curiosity was all it could be.

It was already good enough that Chen Yu let them follow along. They weren’t thick-skinned enough to ask for more.

”You’re pretty amazing, young brother!”

Just then, a voice suddenly called out.

Chen Yu and the others were startled and whipped their heads in the direction of the voice.

A group of six people in black clothes were walking toward them.

They carried long sabers, had firearms and grenades at their waists, and a few even carried black backpacks.

It was rare to see such a fully-armed group in the wilderness.

Looking at the group’s gear, the same thought crossed their minds.

’Could they be from the Qing City Safety Zone?’

They weren’t far from the Qing City Safety Zone now, so meeting people from there seemed entirely reasonable.

Chen Yu was wondering the same thing.

’These people are very likely from the Qing City Safety Zone.’

’Judging by their appearance, they don’t look like refugees like us.’

’Of course, they could also be wilderness bandits!’

It was no secret that besides mutant beasts, the wilderness was also home to bandits.

”Don’t be afraid. We’re from the Qing City Safety Zone’s Mercenary Team.”

At this point, the six fully-armed individuals had reached them, and their long-faced leader spoke.

The Qing City Mercenary Team...

Hearing this, everyone breathed a sigh of relief, joy blooming in their hearts.

’Now that we’ve run into people from the Qing City Mercenary Team, we’re safe.’

’At least we don’t have to worry about being attacked by any mutant beasts.’

Chen Yu also felt his heart relax.

’Official personnel.’

’At least my life is secure now.’

”Xiaowang, give them some food and water.”

The leading captain turned and said to one of his men. Xiaowang nodded, then stepped forward and took a few bottles of water and some compressed biscuits from his backpack.

Everyone got a share. Ignoring the gory scene around them, they immediately began to wolf it all down.

Only Chen Yu and Ma Xiang ate with some composure; after all, they had already had breakfast.

After eating, their stamina was restored.

”My surname is Li. You can call me Captain Li.” The leading captain spoke after they finished eating.

”Captain Li!”

The group replied.

Captain Li looked at them and asked, ”Now I need to ask you a few questions. Where did you escape from to get here?”

”The Crane City Safety Zone!” all five of them replied in unison.

Captain Li nodded at the synchronized response. ”Besides yourselves, have you met any other people traveling with you?”

”One died earlier. Right now, it’s just the five of us,” Ma Xiang answered.

”What’s your name?” Captain Li asked, turning his gaze to Chen Yu.

Chen Yu was taken aback for a second, but quickly recovered. ”My name is Chen Yu. I’m from Crane City.”

”Chen Yu... Hmm. How old are you?” Captain Li continued to ask.

Chen Yu was baffled for a moment.

”Eighteen!” Chen Yu answered honestly.

”Eighteen... Hmm, not so young anymore.”

”...”
