Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 667: Chapter 397: The Sleeping Dragon Arises_2

Previously, Wolf Spirit couldn’t stray too far from him, but Wang Cai was not bound by this restriction.

Moreover, why did Wang Cai’s conveyed emotions feel satiated? Could it be that it could grow by devouring the Spiritual Essence in the Void without the need for Bless?

Lance felt that there were still many secrets about Wang Cai that required study.

”Let’s go, we’ll talk when we get back,” Lance said as he took steps towards the town.

Grendel seemed to sense something but had no intention of speaking, silently supporting everything he did and quickly catching up to his pace.

At nightfall, after a long day of work, Master Lan finally had time to properly reward himself.

He lay half-submerged in the bath made of white jade-like stones, with warm water up to his neck, soaking his entire body.

He had yet to experience the bath since its completion, and now, at last, he had time to relax.

This was part of the bathhouse, but it was built separately, unconnected to the commercial areas. It belonged neither to the men’s nor the women’s baths but was exclusively for his use.

Lance had a touch of modern germaphobia and was not accustomed to sharing such a private space with others.

So, from the initial design phase of the bathhouse, this was already planned, even with independent water sources and piping. This redundant design definitely resulted in some waste, but it was deemed reasonable under Lance’s will.

What is privilege? This is privilege.

Power is always accompanied by privilege, an inevitable law in any era.

But Lance didn’t care. After fighting so many battles, couldn’t he enjoy some luxury?

A moment of tranquility, complete relaxation, no need to think about all those messy, annoying things.

Yet, amid the sudden quiet, soft footsteps were heard. When he opened his eyes, he saw Grendel, wrapped only in a towel, enter with a bottle in her hand.

Her figure was normally hidden under her voluminous dress. Now, it was apparent she was well-endowed and curvy. She was also tall, perhaps 1.8 meters, as evident from her long legs that the towel could not fully cover.

Thus, her figure didn’t appear overweight but rather perfectly proportioned: neither too full nor too slender.

”Try this; it relieves fatigue,” Grendel said, tipping the Potion from the bottle in her hand into the bath. It diffused quickly through the water, turning it emerald green.

”You could have had someone else bring this. You must be tired after a day’s work; there was no need to make the trip yourself.”

”Indeed, I am a little tired,” Grendel replied, her voice soft.

Grendel met Lance’s gaze without any discomfort. Instead, she naturally let the towel drop and stepped into the bath naked in front of him.

Lance was indeed stunned. Shrouded in the thin mist, she seemed perfect, as if she did not belong to reality but existed only in fantasy—an artwork that shook one’s soul.

His gaze skimmed over her like the surface of the water, lingering with intense reluctance until she was submerged.

As Grendel waded deeper into the water, the ripples from her movements finally woke Lance from his dreamlike vision.

”Uh... this...”

Watching Grendel approaching, Lance, who usually had a sharp tongue for any situation, was at a loss for words.

But she had already placed her hand on his chest and leaned into him, whispering in his ear.

”I was afraid I might never see you again...”

Lance could smell a pleasant fragrance that was exceptionally relaxing, but her words excited a certain part of him.

If he could endure this, was he even human?

A warm and fragrant beauty embraced, and beneath the water, the dragon ascended from the depths.

One combo: The dragon emerges from its lair!

Two combos: Fame won with a single battle!

Three combos: The whole world shocked!

Four combos: Invincible under heaven!

Five combos: Destroying heavens and vanquishing earth!!!

”MMM...”

With a soft moan, Grendel gradually regained consciousness. The first thing she saw upon opening her eyes was that familiar setting.

Isn’t this my room? But shouldn’t I be... How did I get back?

My thoughts from last night are a bit of a mess, as if I had an erotic dream.

But as my mind gradually cleared, I vaguely remembered being carried back.

With this thought, I couldn’t help but turn slightly and stare blankly at the man beside me, my hand instinctively caressing his handsome face.

This isn’t a dream...

Lance was also awakened by this movement, opening his bleary eyes.

”Morning.”

”Did I wake you?” Grendel immediately hugged Lance close to her chest. ”Sleep some more,” she whispered, her gentle voice reaching his ears.

Lance felt somewhat helpless. He knew she wanted him to rest a bit more, but the problem was his vigorous arousal; it was impossible to hide. His loose pants felt like they were nearly tearing apart under the surging force as he pressed close to her. Her warm, jade-like body only made him hotter, like a red-hot iron rod.

”Is it very uncomfortable?” Grendel noticed this as well. She looked up into his eyes, her hand lightly sliding down from his chest...

”Waking me up comes with a price.” Lance felt challenged; he had to show her who was in charge!

Another fierce battle ensued. Though Grendel surrendered quickly, it wasn’t up to her to decide; once the battle began, it was relentless!

When the battle subsided, Lance held the bonelessly weak Grendel. He felt a bit guilty.

”Did I hurt you?” Seeing her close her eyes, her cheeks flushed, her body trembling irregularly, and her breathing still heavy, he couldn’t help but feel a pang of heartache.

”You rest well today. I’ll take care of everything else, don’t worry.”

Lance brushed away the damp strands of hair from her face, made moist by sweat, and gently kissed her forehead.

One could only say her constitution was truly special; even her sweat had a unique floral scent.

But just as Lance was about to leave her, she abruptly opened her trembling eyelids, revealing watery eyes. She wrapped her arms around him, pulling Lance back to bed, and whispered softly,

”Don’t go... stay with me a little longer.”

”All right, all right.” Lance didn’t refuse but lay down as if placating a child. ”Sleep, I won’t leave.”

But Grendel didn’t seem to intend to sleep. Instead, she reached out with her right hand. Under her control, the vine-woven bracelet at her wrist changed, revealing a... Seed.

”This is for you.”

Grendel took Lance’s hand and placed the Seed in his palm.

”What is this?”

”It hides the secret to our tribe’s treasury. Even without me, this can be used to open the treasury.”

”I don’t want it; you keep it.” Lance refused without hesitation, handing the strange Seed back to her.

”Why?” Grendel looked at the Seed now back in her hand, seemingly confused.

”Because having you is enough for me; no treasury is more important than you are.”

Grendel was overjoyed to hear these words; her heart nearly melted. Yet, she still couldn’t hide the worry etched between her brows.

Previously chained by vengeance, she would never face death lightly. Now that Warwolf was dead, most of the pressure in her heart had eased.

But facing Warwolf directly had taught her that some things were beyond her control; no one knows whether an accident or tomorrow will come first.

”This is just a precaution; if something happens to me, these things...”

”So you think I can’t protect you?” Lance cut her off harshly. She had no idea of her own importance.

”I’m scared...” Grendel lost her usual composure and dove into Lance’s arms like a frightened rabbit. ”I’m afraid I’ll never see you again.”

It seems the fear of facing death hadn’t completely dissipated.

Lance held her close. He didn’t dwell on those thoughts, instead whispering words of comfort, ”I know you’re tired, but don’t be afraid. I’ll always be by your side.”

”HMM.”

Eventually, after Lance coaxed her for a while, she fell asleep. He gently laid her down and then got up himself.

A laid-back life is not destined for me, all thanks to that old ancestor. Otherwise, I could spend my days tucked in bed with a girl until I naturally woke up.

Damn old man!
