Madame is Pretending to be an Academic Slacker Again!

Nalan Ye Jue frowned. ”How do you know Si Moyu is missing too?”

Lu Yi: ”Because the people from the Si Family, especially those core members from Si Moyu’s Mo Department, have been scouring the world for him. The scale of their search is almost identical to the Bai Family’s! So I have every reason to suspect that Si Moyu has gone missing as well.”

Nalan Ye Jue’s breathing tightened slightly, but he still said cautiously, ”That’s only your conjecture.”

Lu Yi: ”No, Young Master, I took that conjecture and detonated it on them. I tricked them, said I already had a lead on Si Moyu’s whereabouts. They took the bait immediately, anxiously asked where the President was, and even offered us a huge ransom...”

Nalan Ye Jue: ”...”

Si Moyu’s men are all sly as monkeys; for them to be fooled by such a clumsy lie, it shows Si Moyu really has been gone too long—they’re panicking.

Si Moyu and Bai Chi disappeared at the same time, and it was exactly the same timing as when Qin Xin vanished back then...

A faint sense of foreboding slowly rose in his chest.

He immediately gave new orders to the satellite monitoring center: ”Pull up the footage from the wedding night of Si Moyu leaving the old estate as well.”

However.

The report from the monitoring center was: ”Young Master, we checked the footage of Young Master Bai and President Si. Once they entered the old estate, they never came out again.”

Nalan Ye Jue’s Adam’s apple moved.

These two grown men, the place they vanished, the way they vanished, was exactly the same as Qin Xin back then.

But Qin Xin came back. What about them?

”Young Master, what do we do?” Lu Yi was already panicking like crazy.

Right now the Bai Family and the Si Family still don’t know that these two went missing in their Nalan Family’s territory; they both think the men simply got lost after the wedding dispersed.

If they find out it was the Nalan Family that lost them, won’t they come storming in demanding an explanation?

It would be a huge mess.

The Young Master might even become a criminal suspect, especially with Si Moyu—he’s always been the Nalan Family’s mortal enemy, and the Young Master has plenty of motive to kill him.

Ahhh what do we do.

Lu Yi’s head was about to explode.

But Nalan Ye Jue stayed calm and rose from behind the desk. ”We’ll have breakfast first. Then we talk.”

Lu Yi: ”...!”

As a secretary, he’s still nowhere near as composed and magnanimous as Mr. Emperor.

In the bedroom.

When Nalan Ye Jue pushed the door open, Qin Xin was having breakfast with a servant attending her.

She wasn’t eating in tiny little bites like before; instead she quickly cleared every last bit of food.

Nalan Ye Jue stood at the door watching her for quite a while. Only when she finished eating, did a simple wash-up, and inadvertently noticed him standing there and stared at him in a daze, did he finally step over. ”Little Madam, are you full?”

Qin Xin said nothing, just nodded.

Nalan Ye Jue waved the servant away, took her hand, and led her to the sofa, letting her sit with her back to the floor-to-ceiling windows to bask in the sun.

During the three months she was in a coma, this was what he did every day without fail—sun in the morning, letting her absorb the energy gifted by nature.

He did the same now.

But for some reason, now that she was awake, sitting with her in the sun felt less natural and casual than it had before.

The two of them were silent for a while.

Nalan Ye Jue was the first to break the awkwardness. He took her hand. ”Little Madam, I’ll trim your nails for you.”

He took out his tools and carefully worked on them.

His long fingers brushed over her fingertips, and there was a faint, thin callus to be felt.

It was the kind of mark you only get from holding a steering wheel, or an instrument, or a weapon, for a long time.

A pampered heiress, kept safely in her boudoir and never doing much physical work, would not have such calluses.
