Madame is Pretending to be an Academic Slacker Again!

The robot’s thinking was extremely simple and single-track; Xiangxiang would absolutely never stop to think why her target, Qin Xin, and the little miss she was loyal to, Lan Qingxin, were so similar.

Or perhaps, she didn’t even know that her task target was Qin Xin, nor did she know what the intelligence she stole was being used for.

Maybe she was just mechanically executing orders assigned by her superiors. As for what those orders were for, and who they were aimed at, she knew nothing.

Only this could explain why Xiangxiang was whole-heartedly taking care of Lan Qingxin on one hand, while secretly gathering intelligence related to Qin Xin on the other, even going so far as to visit the madhouse to meet with Wu Zhiming.

A rush of thoughts flashed rapidly through Qin Xin’s mind.

Many details that had once been vague suddenly strung together at this moment.

Only...

Who had instructed Xiangxiang to do something so dangerous?

Who was pulling the strings behind the scenes?

A chill abruptly rose along Qin Xin’s spine. She turned her eyes to the man in the wheelchair who was holding her, and enunciated each word as she asked, ”This robot was custom-made by you for your sister. You’re the system’s initial administrator? What did you design her for?”

Xiangxiang was a little maid the Nalan Family had bought for Lan Qingxin. According to Xiangxiang herself, she had followed Lan Qingxin since she was eight or nine, for at least ten years.

Among the robots manufactured by the Nalan Group, apart from Nalan Ye Jue, who else had the authority to control them?

This answer was of critical importance.

The man in the wheelchair freed one hand and pinched the bridge of his nose.

He had originally come to persuade his little wife to restrain her grief; how had the line of fire suddenly shifted onto himself?

If Xiangxiang were still intact, it would have been easier to explain.

Now that Xiangxiang had been burned into scrap metal, whether his explanation could be accepted by his little wife would once again test his luck and his character.

After all, it had taken considerable effort and work last night to explain to his little wife that nothing improper had happened between him and Lan Qingxin, and even now he had not received her formal acknowledgment.

If he failed to answer properly again today, if he failed in this confession...

Nalan Ye Jue took a deep breath and spoke heavily, ”Xiangxiang was a sacrifice of the real-person robot experiment ten years ago.”

”The world only knows that Wu Zhiming experimented on a terminally ill patient on the verge of death, but they don’t know that he also experimented on his own daughter.”

Qin Xin’s breathing faltered!

Xiangxiang was Wu Zhiming’s daughter?!

Nalan Ye Jue nodded, his expression grave.

”Back then, for the sake of robot experiment research, Wu Zhiming had almost descended into a state of madness. There were many system projects he couldn’t complete on that terminally ill patient; the chip’s capabilities were limited. Yet for a time he couldn’t find a suitable volunteer willing to become the subject of such a deranged project, so in the end he set his sights on his daughter.”

”His daughter had sequelae from congenital polio, with underdeveloped nervous systems, which made her very suitable for chip modification to re-control her nervous system.”

”When Xiangxiang was eight, she became his second modification project.”

”Not long after, the human experiment was exposed. Scientists around the world jointly opposed it, signed a pact to permanently ban such experiments, and sent Wu Zhiming to the madhouse.”

”At the time, no one knew Xiangxiang was a robot.”

”After Wu Zhiming was committed, Xiangxiang became an orphan, starving and barely clinging to life in an empty rental apartment with no one around and no food or supplies left.”

”As a fellow researcher in intelligent science, although I detested the crooked path Wu Zhiming had taken, I believed the sins of the father should not be visited on the child, so I took it upon myself to bring her out, planning to treat her illness and then send her to a boarding school.”

”But she displayed many abnormalities.”
