Overlord of the Wilderness

Chapter 573: Chapter 546: The Battle Sparked by the 9-Leaf Blazing Sun Fruit

As the Fire Spirit spoke, a black vortex suddenly appeared beneath the water. A dark figure, exuding a powerful, tyrannical aura, emerged from within!

Zhaang Ye was utterly shocked. After reaching the True Dao Fourth Layer, his Spiritual Sense had become extremely acute; no movement within a hundred-li radius could escape his perception. For this person to have evaded his Spiritual Sense and suddenly appeared from under the water made Zhaang Ye’s heart pound in terror.

“SHING!”

Without a second thought, Zhaang Ye slashed out, intending to slay the person who had just appeared.

The person who had suddenly emerged from the vortex was a young man in gray robes. He seemed dazed upon appearing, only snapping to his senses when Zhaang Ye’s Broken Wave Saber was right before his eyes.

In his horror, the gray-robed youth jabbed a finger wreathed in a hazy gray aura toward Zhaang Ye’s Broken Wave Saber. This young man’s combat prowess was terrifyingly strong; his casual jab seemed to have eyes of its own, striking Zhaang Ye’s saber dead-on!

“TING!”

The Broken Wave Saber let out a low hum, and Zhaang Ye’s arm went numb. The gray-robed youth, however, did not fare so well. When his finger struck the Broken Wave Saber, there was a crisp crack—his finger had been cleanly severed by the blade.

The gray-robed youth’s expression changed, and he was about to retreat to create distance. But just as he executed his Body Technique, Zhaang Ye’s second slash arrived, the chilling gleam of the blade pursuing him like a Meteor Chasing the Moon!

The gray-robed youth jabbed out another finger. The immense finger slash tore through the lake, and the water under his Finger Power vaporized instantly with a thunderous roar.

“BOOM!”

Zhaang Ye’s Broken Wave Saber viciously struck the gray-robed youth’s finger. Having comprehended the Water Realm, Zhaang Ye’s attacks underwater were exceptionally terrifying. This strike once again severed the youth’s finger.

Having lost two fingers in a row, the gray-robed youth was severely wounded and spat out a mouthful of blood. He was about to retreat when Zhaang Ye’s third slash arrived. A flash of blade light, as brilliant as snow, cleaved the young man in two.

Zhaang Ye had just stored the gray-robed youth’s corpse in the Fire Spirit Realm when he suddenly heard several furious roars from outside the lake.

“GRRUMPH! GRRUMPH! GRRUMPH!”

“AWOOO! AWOOO! AWOOO!”

Along with the terrifying sounds, two overwhelmingly immense forces crashed toward Zhaang Ye!

‘Oh no! I picked the Nine-leaf Fierce Sun Fruit and alerted the Flood Dragon and that One-Eyed Giant Beast!’ Zhaang Ye was horrified. He desperately shot forward.

“RUMBLE!”

He had just shot forward a hundred zhang when he felt two terrifying forces sweep past him. The boundless power knocked him backward, sending him flying and spraying blood from his mouth.

“Quick, they’re after us! Fly toward the sky!”

The Fire Spirit’s warning rang in Zhaang Ye’s mind.

Zhaang Ye forcefully suppressed his injuries and transformed into a streak of green light, flying diagonally up toward the sky. When he reached a height of a thousand zhang, several more roars came from behind. The sound waves, like iron hammers, struck him and made his vital energy and blood churn, forcing him to spit out another mouthful of blood.

“WHOOSH!”

A long streak of black light shot after Zhaang Ye. It was the Black Flood Dragon. The Black Flood Dragon was a full six thousand zhang long; its tail was still wrapped around the One-Eyed Giant Beast, but its head had already crossed two thousand zhang of open air to snap at Zhaang Ye!

“Fire Spirit!”

Zhaang Ye couldn’t help but cry out.

The Fire Spirit opened its mouth and spat out three balls of azure fire. They landed perfectly inside the Black Flood Dragon’s mouth and began to burn furiously.

As the flames ignited, the Black Flood Dragon couldn’t help but let out a world-shaking roar of pain, and its speed immediately dropped. Zhaang Ye seized the opportunity, desperately executing his Body Technique to escape the Black Flood Dragon’s pursuit.

「Five thousand li away.」

Zhaang Ye concealed his aura and landed on the ground, panting heavily, his face pale. ‘That was incredibly dangerous. If not for the Fire Spirit’s flames, I would have never escaped the Black Flood Dragon.’ The mere thought of the over six-thousand-zhang-long Black Flood Dragon and its terrifying aura made Zhaang Ye’s scalp tingle.

After scanning his surroundings, Zhaang Ye found a relatively hidden spot to quietly recover from his injuries. The Fire Spirit, having spat out three balls of fire, was also severely drained of its Primordial Qi. It quickly hid in the Fire Spirit Realm and swallowed a Nine-leaf Fierce Sun Fruit.

Three Hours later, Zhaang Ye had finally recovered from his injuries. Thinking of the gray-robed youth who had suddenly appeared underwater, he quickly retrieved the corpse from the Fire Spirit Realm.

After searching the body for a while, Zhaang Ye found a Storage Pouch. Inside the Storage Bag were quite a few miscellaneous items, including over twenty thousand Mid-grade Essence Stones, an Eighth-Grade Spirit Elixir, and a True Dao Secret Manual.

On the Secret Manual were written four large, flourishing words: “Heavenly Gang Finger Technique.” It was clearly a True Dao Secret Manual for cultivating a Finger Technique. The technique the gray-robed youth had used must have been the Heavenly Gang Finger Technique.

Zhaang Ye put the items away and said, “There were a total of fifty-four experts who entered the Sword Monarch Ruins. This person wasn’t one of them. Fire Spirit, where did he come from?”

The Fire Spirit thought for a moment before replying, “He most likely came from an Exotic Realm.”

Zhaang Ye paused, stunned. “An expert from an Exotic Realm?”

The Fire Spirit nodded. “Exactly! The Sword Monarch Ruins is actually an independently existing Little World. As long as one has enough power, they can take advantage of moments of spatial instability to forcibly open a passage and enter. This person most likely entered from another place when the space within the Sword Monarch Ruins was unstable.”

Zhaang Ye understood, saying with lingering fear, “His combat strength was incredible. Even with a sneak attack using my Saber Technique, it took three strikes to kill him. In a direct confrontation, it would have taken at least three hundred…”

“AWOOO! AWOOO! AWOOO!”

“GRRUMPH! GRRUMPH! GRRUMPH!”

Just as he was speaking, several more heaven-shaking roars suddenly echoed from thousands of li away, the sound strangely distorted. The roars were accompanied by intense waves of Primordial Qi fluctuations. Zhaang Ye looked into the distance and saw that vast swathes of the sky, thousands of li away, were stained yellow by dust.

Having consumed a Nine-leaf Fierce Sun Fruit, the Fire Spirit’s strength had increased considerably. It flew out of the Fire Spirit Realm and said, “It seems the Black Flood Dragon and the One-Eyed Giant Beast are fighting again. Judging from the sounds just now, both the Flood Dragon and the One-Eyed Giant Beast are already heavily injured.”

“Heavily injured!”

Zhaang Ye’s eyes lit up. He said decisively, “Let’s go! We’ll sneak over and take a look! If we get a chance, we’ll team up and kill both the Flood Dragon and the One-Eyed Giant Beast!”

The Black Flood Dragon and the One-Eyed Giant Beast were both incredibly powerful beings. Their flesh and blood contained an extreme abundance of Heaven and Earth Essence, and their Inner Cores were rare Treasures. If he could obtain their Inner Cores, Zhaang Ye could use them to trade for a large quantity of Elixirs and Top-grade Essence Stones, greatly accelerating his Cultivation speed.

What tempted Zhaang Ye even more was that the six-thousand-zhang-long Black Flood Dragon’s Inner Core might contain the will of the Sword Monarch. If he could obtain the Sword Monarch’s will, Zhaang Ye’s comprehension of the Sword Dao would improve dramatically, and his combat prowess would increase significantly.

Zhaang Ye executed his Body Technique and departed silently.

After traveling over three thousand li, he saw the Black Flood Dragon a hundred li away. Its tail was wrapped tightly around the One-Eyed Giant Beast’s body, the incomparably powerful force constricting it so tightly that its body was distorted and blood gushed out like a fountain. While its tail was coiled tight, the Black Flood Dragon’s head reared high, and streams of black water shot from its mouth, striking the One-Eyed Giant Beast squarely.

The black water streams the Black Flood Dragon spat out were like Sharp Swords, plunging deep into the One-Eyed Giant Beast’s body. The giant beast roared repeatedly in pain.

“SWISH SWISH SWISH!”

The One-Eyed Giant Beast’s body was enormous and clumsy. Trapped by the Black Flood Dragon, it struggled frantically, its single massive eye shooting out rays of chilling light. When the Black Flood Dragon was hit by the cold light, its scales fell off in droves, and huge chunks of flesh sloughed from its body, a truly miserable sight.

The two powerful creatures were fighting with all their might. The aftershocks from their battle swept clean a thousand-li radius, and massive fissures split the ground. The largest of these chasms was several li wide and hundreds of li long.

When Zhaang Ye got within a hundred li, he could feel a force pressing down on him like a mountain, making it hard to even open his eyes. The chilling rays from the One-Eyed Giant Beast and the water jets from the Black Flood Dragon periodically swept over his head. The feeling of being on the razor’s edge between life and death was utterly terrifying.

The two powerful creatures fought from east to west and then back again. A three-thousand-li radius became their battlefield, where enormous trees and mountains were all ground to dust in their struggle.

After battling like this for three Hours, the two terrifying beasts simultaneously let out a great roar and separated. It turned out that both the Black Flood Dragon and the One-Eyed Giant Beast were intelligent creatures. Realizing they couldn’t defeat each other, they simply decided to stop fighting.

‘Unbelievable. I risked my neck watching for ages, and now they’re just… not fighting?!’ Zhaang Ye felt a surge of disappointment.

Seeing the two beasts about to leave the battlefield, an idea suddenly sparked in Zhaang Ye’s mind. With a thought, a crimson Nine-leaf Fierce Sun Fruit appeared in his hand.

The Fire Spirit asked in shock, “What are you planning to do?”

Zhaang Ye gritted his teeth and said, “Make them keep fighting!”

“WHOOSH!”

Zhaang Ye flicked his wrist, and a gust of wind carried the Nine-leaf Fierce Sun Fruit through the air, landing it right on top of the One-Eyed Giant Beast’s head. The fragrance of the Nine-leaf Fierce Sun Fruit quickly caught the Black Flood Dragon’s attention. It let out a great roar, suddenly turned back, and lunged toward the One-Eyed Giant Beast with its mouth wide open, intent on eating the fruit.

“AWOOO! AWOOO! AWOOO!”

“GRRUMPH! GRRUMPH! GRRUMPH!”

The two Barbaric Beasts slammed into each other, their bodies twisting together as they began to fight once more!
