Overlord of the Wilderness

Zhaang Ye had stored all his belongings in the Small Space, so he had no need to return to Newcomer Peak to pack. After leaving the valley, he headed directly for Rising Sun Peak.

The Green Cloud Sect’s Inner Sect was thousands of miles away from Newcomer Peak. Zhaang Ye was unfamiliar with the route and affected by the increased gravity, so it took him a full two days to reach the entrance.

The Green Cloud Sect’s Inner Sect was enveloped by a massive Array, with dozens of guards constantly patrolling the perimeter, making it impossible for outsiders to enter. Zhaang Ye arrived at the entrance to the Inner Sect, presented his Identity Recognition Jade Token, and said to a guard, ”I am a new disciple. This is my Identity Recognition Jade Token.”

The guard took Zhaang Ye’s Identity Recognition Jade Token, glanced at it, and then nodded. ”Zhaang Ye? A new disciple? Do you know where your residence is?”

Zhaang Ye nodded. ”I do. My place of Cultivation is Rising Sun Peak.”

”Rising Sun Peak?” The nearby guards were slightly startled, their faces showing a strange expression. Zhaang Ye keenly sensed that the guards’ reactions were a bit unusual, but he didn’t dwell on it. He put away his Jade Token and entered the Inner Sect directly.

After Zhaang Ye entered the Inner Sect, one of the guards chuckled. ”Rising Sun Peak is known as the number one peak in the Inner Sect. Who knows how many Inner Sect Disciples have their eyes on it. With this Zhaang Ye being assigned to Rising Sun Peak, a lot of people are sure to be green with envy. Heh, looks like things in the Inner Sect are about to get lively for a while.”

Another guard nodded slightly. ”Right now, there are at least twenty or thirty people coveting Rising Sun Peak. Among them, the one with the highest Cultivation has already reached the True Dao Third Layer and is incredibly powerful. If Zhaang Ye’s strength isn’t up to par, he’ll be driven out of Rising Sun Peak by these people as soon as the three-year protection period for new disciples is over. His happiness will have been for nothing.”

”Heh, it won’t even take three years. Rising Sun Peak was originally the cultivation ground of the previous Inner Sect Senior Brother, Galaxy. He left four Medicine Slaves behind on the peak. Galaxy hasn’t been seen in eighteen years, so those Medicine Slaves have started treating Rising Sun Peak as their own home. When Zhaang Ye enters, he’s bound to be given a hard time by them. Heh, even though Zhaang Ye is a prodigy of the younger generation, he hasn’t been cultivating for long. Whether or not he can handle those four Medicine Slaves is another question entirely.”

”Heh heh, either way, we’ve got another good show to watch...”

...

Upon entering the Inner Sect, Zhaang Ye felt the Heaven and Earth Essence Qi become even denser. It was as if he could simply reach out and grab a handful of it. Nourished by the rich Heaven and Earth Essence Qi, the vegetation in the Inner Sect was incredibly lush. Giant trees towering tens of thousands of feet high could be seen everywhere, and the various exotic flowers and rare grasses were a dazzling sight for Zhaang Ye.

He sped straight ahead, and soon, a towering mountain peak appeared before his eyes. The peak was situated to the east, wreathed in layers of clouds and mist. Through the haze, patches of verdant grass and clear streams cascading down its slopes were visible, creating a breathtaking and pleasant sight.

As Zhaang Ye approached the mountain, his heart filled with joy. Just as he was about to set foot on it, a figure flashed before his eyes, and a young man in red appeared in front of him.

Zhaang Ye stopped dead in his tracks, a shock running through him. The young man in red had appeared like a ghost, materializing out of thin air. Even with Zhaang Ye’s formidable Spiritual Power, he hadn’t sensed his arrival at all.

Zhaang Ye covertly sized up the young man in red and found that he couldn’t gauge his depth at all. The man was like a fathomless ocean, with no visible shore and no discernible bottom.

The young man in red toyed with a small, nine-headed serpent in his hand. His gaze swept over Zhaang Ye before he pointed a finger at the peak ahead and said slowly, ”Zhaang Ye, you are not qualified to live on this Rising Sun Peak. In three years, I will come and drive you out. Remember, my name is Xue Piaohong. Hahaha!”

Zhaang Ye’s expression changed slightly. Just as he was about to speak, Xue Piaohong had already transformed into a streak of bloody light, shooting up into the sky and heading straight for a distant peak on the horizon.

’Xue Piaohong? His Cultivation is in the True Dao Realm, so what’s his identity? Right, that Nine-headed Serpent in his hand seemed a little familiar. Well, I haven’t even set foot on Rising Sun Peak, and someone’s already got their eyes on it.’ Zhaang Ye stood there for a moment, a cold sneer forming in his heart, then used his Body Technique to continue toward the peak.

Zhaang Ye used his Body Technique to speed along. He had only traveled a few miles when he encountered another young man. This person’s aura was also unfathomably deep. When he saw Zhaang Ye approaching, he gave him a contemptuous glance and said, ”And here I thought the first-place winner of this year’s entrance competition would be some earth-shattering genius. I didn’t expect it to be someone who just barely reached the Half-step True Dao Realm. Zhaang Ye, this Rising Sun Peak is the best peak in the Inner Sect. You are not worthy of cultivating here. I am Jian Zhongxing. In three years, I will personally throw you off Rising Sun Peak!”

After leaving this remark, Jian Zhongxing also flickered and vanished, transforming into a streak of light.

Zhaang Ye’s brow twitched. He thought to himself, ’I thought I could cultivate in peace after entering the Inner Sect, but it seems there’s no tranquility here either. Both Xue Piaohong and Jian Zhongxing have reached the True Dao Realm; they are definitely formidable opponents. I have to hurry up and reach the True Dao Realm myself, or else more people will show up to flaunt their power in my face!’

With this thought in mind, Zhaang Ye quickly arrived at the base of Rising Sun Peak. At the foot of the peak stood an ancient White Jade Stele, on which a shallow indentation was carved. Zhaang Ye glanced at it and casually placed his Identity Recognition Jade Token into the indentation. He felt the Heaven and Earth Essence Qi tremble slightly, and a huge portal materialized before his eyes.

Zhaang Ye put away the Jade Token and stepped into Rising Sun Peak.

The moment he stepped inside, Zhaang Ye felt a refreshing sensation wash over his entire body. The Heaven and Earth Essence Qi within Rising Sun Peak was twice as dense as it was outside. Just by standing still, Zhaang Ye could feel the Heaven and Earth Essence Qi pouring into his body continuously. With every breath, the True Qi inside him grew a little denser.

Zhaang Ye walked onward, seeing patches of emerald clouds floating in the sky. The air was free of even a speck of dust, appearing crystal clear and leaving one feeling refreshed and content. On the ground, flowers bloomed everywhere and the fragrance of exotic herbs filled the air. Beautiful birds flitted among the plants, creating a scene of peace and serenity. It was truly a paradise on earth.

”What a good, good place!”

Zhaang Ye rejoiced inwardly, unable to stop himself from exclaiming aloud. The Heaven and Earth Essence Qi on Rising Sun Peak was simply too dense; every blade of grass and every tree pulsed with Spiritual Qi. Cultivating in a place like this, his cultivation speed would increase dramatically. He might even be able to break into the True Dao Realm within a year and become a Daoist Master!

”Who’s there! Get the hell out!”

Just as Zhaang Ye was silently rejoicing, a voice like a broken gong suddenly rang out from higher up on Rising Sun Peak. Following the sound, a long-haired, bare-chested giant of a man leaped down from the sky. A massive club weighing tens of thousands of pounds whistled through the air with a terrifying shriek as it smashed down directly at Zhaang Ye’s head!

Zhaang Ye dodged abruptly, leaping to the side.

BOOM!

The long-haired man’s giant club slammed viciously into the ground, instantly creating a huge crater. The earth for several miles around trembled violently from the impact. Some birds nesting in the trees shrieked in alarm and flew off into the distance with a flurry of wings.

Zhaang Ye’s brow furrowed deeply. He asked in a low voice, ”Who are you? Why are you here?”

The long-haired man casually lifted his great club, let out a booming laugh, and said arrogantly, ”That’s a question I should be asking you! Let me, Mu the Third, tell you—I am the master here! Kid, I’ll count to ten, and you’d better get the hell out of my sight! Otherwise, I’ll beat you to death and use your corpse as flower fertilizer!”

Zhaang Ye sneered. ”This Rising Sun Peak was originally an unclaimed peak. Now, the Sect has assigned it to me, which makes me its master. What are you to dare call yourself the master of Rising Sun Peak? State your true identity, or I will treat you as a trespasser and break all four of your limbs!”

This Mu the Third had murky yellow eyes and radiated a thick killing intent. Attacking with his club the moment they met, he had greatly damaged the scenery of Rising Sun Peak, which filled Zhaang Ye with disgust.

Hearing Zhaang Ye’s challenge, Mu the Third’s expression faltered for a moment before he flew into a rage. He said sinisterly, ”You’ve got a sharp tongue, kid! This peak is the cultivation ground of Inner Sect Senior Brother Lord Galaxy! Since when did it become yours? Scram, now, or I’ll kill you!”

As he spoke, Mu the Third swung his great club with a WHOOSH, his body seething with killing intent.

Zhaang Ye pulled the Identity Recognition Jade Token from his robes and sneered, ”You damn dog, look closely! The Sect gave me this Identity Recognition Jade Token. I can use it to open the Mountain Protection Array of Rising Sun Peak. That proves that I am the master of this peak. Do you understand?”

When Mu the Third saw the Identity Recognition Jade Token in Zhaang Ye’s hand, his expression changed, and a savage glint appeared in his eyes. But this ferocious look quickly vanished. He dispersed his killing intent and said respectfully, ”So you are our new master! I was rude just now because I thought a trespasser had entered Rising Sun Peak. Mu the Third, Wood Slave of Rising Sun Peak, greets the new master.”

Zhaang Ye said slowly, ”So you’re just a slave. A slave should act like a slave. Why are you still standing when you see your master? Kneel!”

As he spoke, an incredibly heavy pressure locked firmly onto Mu the Third.

A brutal glint flashed in Mu the Third’s eyes. After a moment’s hesitation, he finally knelt down slowly before Zhaang Ye. Zhaang Ye stood there coldly without moving. After a long moment, he said icily, ”Now that’s a bit more like a slave. Get up. Take me on a tour of the peak.”
