Overlord of the Wilderness

Hearing Ye Cangtian’s cry of surrender, countless spectators leaped to their feet, letting out earth-shattering roars.

The participating geniuses watched Zhang Ye with gazes full of awe. Someone sighed softly, ”Zhang Ye is incredibly powerful! Fengyun Sheng was no match for him, Netherworld Green Blood was no match for him, and he even defeated Sword King Ye Cangtian! Now, it’s all up to Mo Luo and Red Cliff Celestial Ape. Hopefully, those two can stop his momentum!”

”Yes, it all depends on them now. Although Red Cliff Celestial Ape lost to Mo Luo, his own combat strength is extraordinary. His power has increased tremendously since his breakthrough, making him a worthy adversary for Zhang Ye. And Mo Luo’s Spiritual Power is terrifying, his methods of attack are mysterious and unpredictable. He’s the most likely person to defeat Zhang Ye.”

As the geniuses murmured among themselves, their gazes shifted to Mo Luo and Red Cliff Celestial Ape. Zhang Ye’s momentum was simply too ferocious; he seemed ready to slay gods and demons alike. This provoked the jealousy of many geniuses, all of whom hoped that Mo Luo and Red Cliff Celestial Ape would be the ones to teach Zhang Ye a lesson.

In the ninety-fourth round, Zhang Ye’s opponent surrendered immediately. Zhang Ye won without a fight, bringing his score to two hundred eighty-two points and placing him first on the leaderboard. The only one tied with him for first was the King of Hell, Mo Luo; the other top-tier experts had all suffered defeats, dropping them to second place.

Since his opponent had surrendered, Zhang Ye was spared the trouble of a fight. He sat leisurely in his seat, watching the battles of the other young experts.

A battle on Arena 34 caught Zhang Ye’s attention.

The combatants were Red Cliff Celestial Ape and Jiang Spirit Sword. Both were old acquaintances of Zhang Ye, so he paid close attention to their fight.

Although Jiang Spirit Sword was a seeded contestant, his combat strength hadn’t been particularly formidable three months ago. Now, however, his aura had risen to a new level, and his power had at least doubled. His record was also quite impressive, landing him at thirtieth place on the leaderboard.

The referee had the two fighters take their positions and then announced the start of the match.

Red Cliff Celestial Ape didn’t attack immediately. His entire body radiated an aura of searing violence as he sneered, ”Jiang Spirit Sword, you’d be wise to surrender this match right now!”

Jiang Spirit Sword smiled arrogantly. ”Power King, you are indeed formidable. But getting me to surrender is absolutely out of the question. I intend to use your strength to temper my Profound Ice Power and raise it to the next level.”

After being beaten back by Zhang Ye three months prior, Jiang Spirit Sword had gone through arduous Cultivation, during which his Profound Ice True Qi had unexpectedly broken through, greatly increasing his combat strength. With this boost in power came a boost in courage. Even facing a terrifying opponent like Red Cliff Celestial Ape, he refused to surrender, deciding instead to test the Celestial Ape’s strength for himself.

Red Cliff Celestial Ape sneered. ”Use me to temper your Profound Ice Power? You’re courting death, kid!”

As he spoke, Red Cliff Celestial Ape raised a hand and brought it crashing down toward Jiang Spirit Sword. The Celestial Ape’s palm was broad and massive, like a giant millstone. Each of his fingers was a foot long, tipped with ghastly, knife-like nails. The chaotic lines of his palm seemed to contain the most terrifying power in the world; a simple swat was enough to bring boundless force crashing down from the void!

The moment Red Cliff Celestial Ape’s palm came down, Jiang Spirit Sword knew he was in trouble. He could clearly feel that the strike not only contained terrifying physical force but had also solidified the very air around him! Beneath that massive palm, he felt an overwhelming sense of helplessness as terror surged up from the depths of his heart.

ROAR!

But Jiang Spirit Sword was, after all, a veteran of countless battles. He instantly banished the fear from his heart and thrust his arms upward. Miraculously, two icebergs, visible to the naked eye, appeared to block the attack from above!

One move was all it took for an expert to reveal their hand. The moment Red Cliff Celestial Ape attacked, Jiang Spirit Sword knew the gap between their strengths was too vast. ’I’ll try to block this one attack, then surrender immediately!’

BOOM!

Red Cliff Celestial Ape’s massive palm slammed down. The two icebergs instantly shattered on contact, erupting into endless clouds of Profound Ice Qi that coated the Celestial Ape’s hand in a layer of frost. But he completely ignored it. After smashing through the icebergs, his palm continued its descent, heading straight for Jiang Spirit Sword!

PTHOO!

The impact left Jiang Spirit Sword grievously injured, and he spat out a mouthful of blood. Terrified out of his wits, he was just about to surrender when Red Cliff Celestial Ape suddenly reached out with his other hand. His right hand seized Jiang Spirit Sword’s shoulder, while his left grabbed his thigh. Just as a new sense of dread washed over him, Jiang Spirit Sword heard the Celestial Ape let out a savage laugh. Then, with a sudden exertion of force from both hands, he ripped!

RIIIP!

With a single, brutal tear, Red Cliff Celestial Ape ripped Jiang Spirit Sword’s body in two. Blood and organs spilled out with a wet SPLAT, staining a wide swath of the arena crimson!

”Ah!”

The audience stared in stunned silence at Red Cliff Celestial Ape’s brutal act. Although the battles in the Green Cloud Sect’s entrance tournament were fierce, they almost always ended once a victor was clear. Bloody scenes like this were rare. For Red Cliff Celestial Ape to rip Jiang Spirit Sword in half in front of hundreds of thousands of spectators was utterly shocking!

”I... I’m dying... AAAAAAH!”

Jiang Spirit Sword, ripped in two by the Red Cliff Celestial Ape, hadn’t died instantly. He looked down at his own lower body and spilled entrails and let out a bloodcurdling scream. It was a sound of such pure agony that it would be impossible to forget in a lifetime. Upon hearing it, the faces of some spectators instantly turned deathly pale.

Hearing Jiang Spirit Sword’s agonizing cry, Red Cliff Celestial Ape let out a low, cruel chuckle. His hand shot out and clenched, forcefully snapping Jiang Spirit Sword’s neck.

”Gasp! Th-that’s too savage!”

”That Red Cliff Celestial Ape... he’s like a wild animal!”

”How terrifying! So terrifying! Something seems wrong with Red Cliff Celestial Ape!”

”BWAHAHAHA! That was awesome! So awesome! Kill, Red Cliff Celestial Ape, kill, kill, kill!”

Most of the spectators near the arena gasped in horror, terrified by Red Cliff Celestial Ape’s cruelty. But some cheered loudly, wishing he would tear a few more people apart.

The time between Red Cliff Celestial Ape tearing Jiang Spirit Sword apart and finishing him off was just an instant; even the referee couldn’t intervene in time. The referee’s face paled at the sight of such a brutal killing. Just as he was about to move in and apprehend the victor, Ninth Elder Deng Jian Gong suddenly appeared on the arena platform.

Deng Jian Gong sized up Red Cliff Celestial Ape, then shook his head. ”Red Cliff Celestial Ape was defeated by Mo Luo’s immense Spiritual Power. His mind has become unstable, and he loses all reason when provoked. It’s no wonder he would resort to such a savage killing. I just need to snap him out of it.”

After saying this, Deng Jian Gong struck out with his palm, landing it squarely on the top of Red Cliff Celestial Ape’s head. After taking the blow, the violent aura around the Celestial Ape slowly dissipated, and clarity returned to his eyes. Seeing Deng Jian Gong before him, he bowed respectfully.

Deng Jian Gong waved a hand and ordered the referee, ”Clean up the arena, then continue the matches. This competition has been going on for almost two days. It’s time to bring it to a close!”

The crowd erupted into an uproar at Ninth Elder Deng Jian Gong’s words.

”Gods, so Red Cliff Celestial Ape’s mind really is unstable! His power is already terrifying; if he’s mentally unhinged, that’s just dangerous!”

”Exactly! Imagine fighting him. What if his mind snaps and he tears you in half while you’re still alive? That would be a tragic way to go!”

”I’ve heard that when someone goes insane, their combat power actually increases! Gods, Red Cliff Celestial Ape is already terrifying enough. If his strength increases even more, not even the top-tier experts would dare fight him!”

Amid the clamor, the ninety-fifth round officially began. Everyone looked down at their Jade Tokens to find their next opponent.

Zhang Ye also looked down at his Jade Token. When he saw the name, a bitter smile touched the corners of his lips. ’My opponent for the ninety-fifth round is actually Red Cliff Celestial Ape! His mind has become unstable... fighting him is going to be a real pain.’

Muttering to himself, Zhang Ye rose to his feet and slowly made his way to the arena. By now, Red Cliff Celestial Ape also knew Zhang Ye was his opponent. He stood on the platform, looking down on the approaching Zhang Ye, and sneered, ”Good, very good! Zhang Ye, I’ve waited so long to finally run into you! Today, I, Red Cliff Celestial Ape, will wash away my shame and grind you into the dust!”

As Red Cliff Celestial Ape spoke, a sinister, violent aura erupted from his body. He no longer looked like a man, but like a Barbaric Beast from the depths of the Barbaric Mountain Range, ready to pounce and devour someone at any moment!

”Ah! Red Cliff Celestial Ape is losing it again!”

”What a terrifying, violent aura! The man is practically a ferocious Barbaric Beast! Zhang Ye is in for some serious trouble fighting him!”

”Exactly! My gods, I’m terrified just watching him from a distance. For Zhang Ye to face him directly... his chances don’t look good.”

The spectators sensed the change in Red Cliff Celestial Ape and began to murmur amongst themselves. At this moment, not a single one of them favored Zhang Ye. They all looked at him with pity, as if he were already a dead man.

Amid the crowd’s discussion, Zhang Ye stepped onto the arena and stood facing Red Cliff Celestial Ape. The battle had yet to begin, but their auras were already clashing violently. A fierce fight was imminent!
