Overlord of the Wilderness

A huge Black Leopard with a massive body was lying on the grass, its bowl-sized eyes staring intently at a medicinal herb before it. The herb was about five feet tall and bore two bright red fruits, which were emitting waves of fragrance under the sun.

GULP—

Staring at the two red fruits, the Black Leopard couldn’t help but gulp, a hint of excitement in its eyes. It had painstakingly cultivated this medicinal herb, and it was about to ripen. As long as it devoured these two fruits, its power would surge, and it would become an Overlord in the Little World.

The sun reached its zenith. The fruits grew redder and redder, and the fragrance filling the air became richer. Beyond the Black Leopard, some Fierce Beasts, drawn by the scent, slowly approached. However, this Black Leopard was extremely formidable. Although the Fierce Beasts smelled the enticing fragrance, they didn’t dare to venture within a thousand feet.

”ROAR, ROAR!”

The Black Leopard let out two arrogant roars, warning the Fierce Beasts on the perimeter. Then, it opened its blood-red maw, about to swallow the medicinal herb whole.

Just then, a world-shaking roar suddenly came from the distant horizon.

”AWOOOO!”

The roar was filled with majesty and dominance, like a thunderclap from a clear sky. The grass and trees for miles around trembled from the force of it. Upon hearing the tremendous roar, the Black Leopard and the other Fierce Beasts on the grassland showed looks of terror. Some of the weaker Fierce Beasts even dropped to the ground, their bodies trembling uncontrollably.

BOOM!

A purple shadow tore through the air and arrived above the grassland. As it appeared, a primeval aura began to spread. Feeling this primeval aura, even the formidable Black Leopard didn’t dare to move, obediently prostrating itself on the ground.

”Hahahahaha! To think I’d find a Red Yao Grass in this patch of grassland. Red Yao Grass is one of the main ingredients for refining the Innate Golden Pill, so I’m definitely taking it. Hey, little kitty, this Red Yao Grass is mine now. Move aside.”

Zhaang Ye leaped down from the Purple-haired Wild Boar’s back, landing right next to the Red Yao Grass. Paying no mind to the pitiful Black Leopard, he flicked his Mysterious Blade Tip, and a flash of Sword Qi sliced out a chunk of earth ten feet in diameter. He then stored the Red Yao Grass—plant, fruit, and all—into his Small Space.

After stowing the Red Yao Grass, Zhaang Ye patted the Black Leopard’s head in satisfaction and said, ”Leopards eat meat. As long as you have meat to eat, you shouldn’t be eating grass. So, I’ll be taking this little plant. Hey, little kitty, make sure you cultivate lots more medicinal herbs, okay? Oh, and right, you should let me know when you have more.”

With that, Zhaang Ye executed a Body Technique and, with a WHOOSH, leaped onto the back of the Purple-haired Wild Boar and vanished like a bolt of lightning, leaving behind a despondent Black Leopard, on the verge of tears, and a flock of dumbfounded Fierce Beasts.

...

The Purple-haired Wild Boar transformed into a streak of purple light, flying close to the ground. Zhaang Ye sat cross-legged on its back as vast expanses of lakes and forests flew past beneath them.

”AWOOO, AWOOO!”

The Purple-haired Wild Boar flew on, letting out a few loud roars from time to time. It had already mastered the cultivation of Innate True Qi, and its power was exceptionally tyrannical. Its roars were earth-shattering, and all the Fierce Beasts for miles around would bow their heads upon hearing them.

Zhaang Ye frowned slightly. ’This guy seems to be in heat or something, roaring nonstop all day,’ he thought. ’But it’s good that it’s roaring. It can intimidate the Fierce Beasts, making it easier for me to strike.’

It had been seven days since Zhaang Ye subjugated the Purple-haired Wild Boar.

In those seven days, with the help of the Purple-haired Wild Boar, Zhaang Ye had robbed dozens of Fierce Beasts, harvesting a large quantity of Essence Stones and medicinal herbs. Right now, over a thousand Essence Stones were piled up in Zhaang Ye’s Small Space. As for the various medicinal herbs, they formed a small mountain, among which were many rare and exotic plants like the Red Yao Grass.

Zhaang Ye took stock of the medicinal herbs and Essence Stones in his Small Space, a hint of excitement on his face. ’I’ve almost finished collecting the medicinal herbs that Master and my senior uncles requested,’ he thought. ’Now I just need four more things: the Celestial Fragrance Jade Flower, the Jade Calamus, the Long Li Sky-Catching Grass, and the fruit of the Jade Bamboo. Once I’ve gathered all the herbs, I must go see the depths of the Little World. Master once mentioned that there seems to be some kind of secret hidden there...’

As he was lost in thought, the Purple-haired Wild Boar suddenly slowed down.

Zhaang Ye frowned. ”What’s wrong?”

The Purple-haired Wild Boar let out a low growl and gestured with its two claws in mid-air, as if explaining something.

Zhaang Ye watched for a moment, then it clicked. ”You’re saying this grassland below is your territory? And that beyond this grassland, it’s not your territory anymore?”

The Purple-haired Wild Boar nodded and gave a low roar.

Zhaang Ye’s interest was immediately piqued. ”Whose territory is it up ahead?” he asked.

”ROAR, ROAR,” the Purple-haired Wild Boar grunted lowly, tracing a shape in the air with its claws. Zhaang Ye glanced at it and understood immediately. ”You’re saying it’s the territory of the Two-winged Flying Crocodile? With your power, you don’t need to be afraid of it, do you?”

The Purple-haired Wild Boar let out a proud roar, but after doing so, a troubled look appeared in its eyes, as if it was quite wary of the Two-winged Flying Crocodile.

Zhaang Ye waved his hand. ”If you’re not afraid of it, then let’s continue our robbery spree! I’m going to rob all the Fierce Beasts in the Two-winged Flying Crocodile’s territory and take all their Essence Stones and medicinal herbs!”

...

”GLUG GLUG GLUG GLUG—”

In a bottomless pool, several strands of finger-wide, emerald-green aquatic grass slithered through the water like green snakes. Beside these plants, a giant crocodile several hundred feet long was vigilantly surveying its surroundings, its enormous body bobbing in the water and creating ripples.

AWOOO!

An earth-shattering roar suddenly broke the tranquility of the pool. Hearing the massive roar, the green aquatic grass instantly sank to the bottom, leaving only the very tips visible. The giant crocodile, hearing the roar, flicked its tail and, with a WHOOSH, shot out of the water, its cold eyes fixed on the sky.

AWOOO! Another great roar. Following this thunderous cry, a purple shadow suddenly descended from the sky. An incomparably powerful aura appeared in an instant, so immense that it even flattened the surface of the pool, stilling the water completely.

The ones who had suddenly descended from the sky were none other than Zhaang Ye and the Purple-haired Wild Boar. After entering the Two-winged Flying Crocodile’s territory, Zhaang Ye had gone on a robbing spree, harvesting even more Essence Stones and medicinal herbs. The number of Essence Stones in Zhaang Ye’s Small Space now exceeded fifteen hundred. Even the Elders of the True Hall couldn’t compare to Zhaang Ye’s wealth.

Zhaang Ye glanced at the giant crocodile, but his gaze was immediately drawn to the few stalks of aquatic grass in the pool. ”Hahaha! To think there are five stalks of Jade Calamus growing in this pool! Excellent, excellent! Jade Calamus is not only an ingredient for refining the Innate Golden Pill, but also a rare treasure. One stalk is worth more than twenty Essence Stones, so five stalks are worth over a hundred! Looks like I’m in for another small fortune!”

As he spoke, Zhaang Ye swaggered through the air toward the Jade Calamus.

”GURGLE-GARBLE! GURGLE-GARBLE!!”

Seeing Zhaang Ye completely ignore its presence, the giant crocodile’s eyes flashed with anger, and it issued a few extremely vicious warning sounds from its great maw.

”Oh? This little crocodile isn’t afraid of the Purple-haired Wild Boar’s Suppression? How rare,” Zhaang Ye remarked as he sized up the giant crocodile, noticing that it also carried a kind of primeval aura, though much weaker than the Purple-haired Wild Boar’s.

Although the giant crocodile’s strength was not weak, Zhaang Ye paid it no mind. He waved a hand at the Purple-haired Wild Boar. ”Purple-haired Wild Boar, this little crocodile is all yours. If you’re hungry, you can use it to fill your belly!”

”GURGLE-GARBLE! GURGLE-GARBLE!!”

This giant crocodile had lived for a very long time and possessed its own intelligence. Hearing Zhaang Ye’s words, it roared in fury and launched its enormous body toward him.

But just as its body began to move, the Purple-haired Wild Boar suddenly made its move.

The Purple-haired Wild Boar’s speed was like lightning. With a single movement, it transformed into a faint purple shadow and appeared on the giant crocodile’s back in an instant. Then, its two claws, like a pair of enormous iron pillars, smashed down on the crocodile’s back.

Although the giant crocodile was powerful, its reaction speed was no match for the Purple-haired Wild Boar. The strike landed squarely.

BANG! BANG!

The Purple-haired Wild Boar was not only as fast as lightning but also possessed boundless strength. The force of the blow shook the very earth, and the giant crocodile’s several-hundred-foot-long body was smashed into the rock, blood flowing out like a stream.

Zhaang Ye glanced over and shook his head slightly. The giant crocodile was formidable, but the Purple-haired Wild Boar was even more so. In terms of both speed and power, the boar was superior. A single strike had left the giant crocodile on the brink of death.

WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH!

Zhaang Ye suddenly thrust out his hand, and five small Tornadoes instantly locked onto the five stalks of Jade Calamus. The Jade Calamus was a strange type of medicinal herb that could move like a snake, so one needed to lock it down to harvest it. Zhaang Ye’s comprehension of the Space Storm was growing ever deeper, and his Tornadoes were the perfect method for pinning down the Jade Calamus.

SWISH SWISH SWISH SWISH SWISH!

Once the Tornadoes had locked onto the Jade Calamus, Zhaang Ye gave a slight lift of his arm and instantly pulled all five stalks out of the pool. The Jade Calamus struggled ceaselessly in mid-air, trying to escape his control, but a few mere medicinal herbs were simply no match for Zhaang Ye’s power.

Zhaang Ye smiled faintly and took out several Jade Boxes from his Small Space. Then, with a light flick of his fingers, he sent the five stalks of Jade Calamus into the Jade Boxes.

”That takes care of the Jade Calamus. Only three more medicinal herbs to go,” Zhaang Ye chuckled. Just as he was about to call the Purple-haired Wild Boar and leave, a thunderous roar suddenly echoed from the distant void: ”GURGLE-GARBLE!!”

”SWOOSH!” Hearing this strange roar, the Purple-haired Wild Boar immediately flew into the air, looking as if it were facing a great enemy. (To be continued.
