Beneath the Red Dragon

”With him leading this war band, those wolfmen are stronger warriors at night than the jackal-wolf men, they are the darlings of the night and the moon, and will also become my subjects!”

Fafnir was noticeably more lively than before, her alluring face brimming with joy and excitement. Being able to participate in such territorial decision-making and announcements meant that her efforts were acknowledged by the Red Dragon, and Karon was beginning to truly trust her.

Fafnir’s fist fell swiftly on the muscles of the Red Dragon’s arm, noting down Karon’s requirements and reporting the witch demon’s follow-up handling.

Compared to Charlize, the lady officer unfamiliar with territorial affairs and still transitioning relevant tasks, the giant demon at this moment seemed more like the Red Dragon’s personal lady-in-waiting.

”The witch demon has signed a contract and will be dispatched to various areas of the Dragon Group Territory, leading the repaired White Bone Legion to open up river channels and build canals, following the planning and requirements of the Department of Internal Affairs to construct channels and water conservancy.”

”However, he requested to expand the White Bone Legion to about a thousand; he said three hundred white bone undead specified by the territory’s regulations were too few to bear such a heavy task.”

Fafnir smiled, ”And he protested, saying that as a lich existing as a great miracle, he shouldn’t be tethered like a dog in the Heroic Spirit Cemetery as a tomb guardian during the day and still need to work at night,”

”He also said that the giant dragon even wants to squeeze a few ounces of oil out of bones but is unwilling to give him proper treatment, this lich is always complaining anyway.”

”For such trivial matters, don’t need to report to me in the future, let Gomot and them handle it,” Karon said nonchalantly, chewing the entire peeled watermelon handed over by the elf maid, the burst juice filling his mouth like thick blood.

As long as actual benefits can be gained, it doesn’t matter if others complain a bit, as for improving the treatment, it’s already good that Karon hasn’t turned the lich into ashes with a dragon fire; the lich surviving is thanks to Karon’s heartless mercy that should be hung under a streetlamp.

”Oh, master, there is another quite important message, perhaps you will be interested,” Fafnir opened the letter, which was sent by intelligence personnel who had gone out with the Goblin Shanshan’s Giant Dragon Merchant Group, marked with thick red ink.

”Go on,” Karon replied, while enjoying the elf maid’s gentle service, wiping the watermelon juice splattered at the corners of his mouth with a silk cloth.

”The Deep Red Queen, Dickris from the desolate volcanic belt of the Southern Continent, this young adult Red Dragon who likes to pick up and nurture the discarded dragon eggs left by other giant dragons, and then resell the hatchlings to other species,”

”Because she stole a Silver Dragon’s egg, the Silver Dragon attacked her. The Deep Red Queen Dickris injured that Silver Dragon, but later was besieged by a dragon-slaying team and metallic dragons gathered by the adult Silver Dragon and fell in the depths of the desolate volcanic belt, in front of her own nest.”

Karon couldn’t help but retract his claw from Fafnir’s soft-touch thigh, covering his own forehead.

Even though knowing the Red Dragon’s nature, Karon still couldn’t help but feel helpless and shocked at his kin’s reckless actions. The Five-Colored Dragons are already in a weak position in the Icaria World, and this mature female Red Dragon still dared to provoke the grouping Silver Dragons, an act beyond the comprehension of the rational Karon.

But if it weren’t for these messy and unpredictable actions of the Five-Colored Dragon Species, the Five-Colored Dragons on the Southern and Central Continents wouldn’t have nearly disappeared without a trace.

Among the Five-Colored Dragon Species, the Red Dragon, which was at a higher rank, is almost extinct in these civilized worlds. Only the Green Dragons and Black Dragons, who are skilled at hiding, can manage to call themselves kings in the wilderness, while the Blue Dragons who prefer maintaining order have relatively prosperous families.

Oh, and let’s not forget the White Dragons, this dragon species, regardless of where they hide, would always be targeted by dragon slayers. Because they are far from the civilized world, they remain more prevalent.

”Forget it, the only thing that interests me about this news is the treasure that the mature Red Dragon, Dickris, left behind in her nest, such a pity!”

Karon turned to look outside the window of the great hall on the first level, layers of floating clouds drifting with the wind atop the mountain peak within the Dragon Castle, Karon suddenly had a sense of lonely highness.
