Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 418: Chapter 416: Clever Hagrid

Hagrid’s expression was very serious.

Even though he liked Fire Dragon Teeth and really wanted them, he would never let Kael lose money, that was absolutely not acceptable.

”It’s different, Hagrid.”

Kael smiled and explained, ”These are not crafted items you buy. If you look closely, you’ll find no traces of carving on them.”

”Really?” Hagrid skeptically took out a Fire Dragon Tooth and examined it.

It was clean indeed, quite different from what he usually saw.

He took out another one and found some scratches from bumps on it.

”See?” Kael said, ”I picked these up from the Fire Dragon Reserve without spending a single Knut.”

”Picked up, picked up...” Hagrid was stunned, ”This many?”

”This is just a portion...” Kael said, ”You must have heard about the big battle at the Romanian Fire Dragon Reserve, right? During that time, almost every day a dragon tooth would be broken; at the peak, I could pick up seven or eight in ten minutes.”

Hagrid’s expression was completely dazed, he even forgot to pay Kael... Clearly, he had no idea this happened.

And once he came back to his senses, he instantly felt uneasy.

Dozens of Fire Dragons, a big battle... these words struck his nerves like the Whomping Willow.

He could hardly believe what he had missed.

If he’d known, he would have crawled to Romania if needed.

”You should have told me earlier... you should have told me earlier...” Hagrid muttered, stomping in frustration.

Kael shrugged.

It wasn’t that he didn’t tell, but saying it wouldn’t have mattered.

If he wasn’t invited, even if Hagrid went, he’d just be in the gathering area, unable to see a thing.

After a long while, Hagrid gradually calmed down.

Kael leaned in, seemingly unintentionally asking, ”Hagrid, how many Manticores are in the Forbidden Forest?”

”Two.” Hagrid said, ”One big and one small. The big one is injured, recuperating in the depths of the Forbidden Forest.”

”Injured?” Kael frowned, ”What could possibly injure them!”

Even among the 5X level Fantastic Beasts, Manticores are extremely dangerous.

With colossal strength, agile movements, fur almost repelling all known magic, and the scorpion tail behind them being poisonous, regular wizards don’t stand a chance, even transformed werewolves would die from one sting.

”I don’t know...” Hagrid still immersed in regret, casually said, ”but it has a large wound on its body. I guess when it was weakest, it was probably discovered by Fire Dragons or Chimaeras, which forced it to the Forbidden Forest to give birth.”

”Really lucky to be found by you,” Kael said, ”I mean, the Forbidden Forest isn’t exactly safe, right...”

”Yeah, you’re right,” Hagrid looked towards the Forbidden Forest, ”I found the Manticore while looking for Aragog. Luckily, I moved them to a safer spot, otherwise those...”

saying that, Hagrid suddenly shut his mouth. ”...Nothing, the Forbidden Forest is indeed very dangerous.”

He didn’t want anyone to know who Aragog was.

But Kael didn’t mind, continuing to ask, ”Is it badly injured?”

”Oh, not really serious,” Hagrid said, ”Even though it looks frightening, I checked; they’re all external wounds, just need some Dittany.”

”Need help?” Kael said, ”I have a lot of Dittany that just matured and also learned plenty of methods from Newt for treating Fantastic Beasts.”

”No need.”

Hagrid suddenly became alert, turning his head to suspiciously look at Kael, saying, ”Why do you care so much about the Manticore’s situation...”

”Nothing, just wanted to help.” Kael explained, ”You know, whether it’s my dad or Newt, they wouldn’t leave a wounded Fantastic Beast unattended.”

”Hope that’s the case.” Hagrid still didn’t relax his vigilance.

He also knew now, Kael had a knack for dealing with Fantastic Beasts.

Whether it’s Norbert or the Three-Headed Dog, Fluffy, they really liked him, even while drinking with other professors, they say the Basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets seems to have been given to Kael by Professor Dumbledore.

Though it’s just a speculation, nobody saw the process of gifting the Basilisk, but they were very familiar with Dumbledore, especially Professor McGonagall, who surely knows a few things.

When they talked about this, Professor McGonagall remained silent, which says a lot.

Could Kael possibly be after the Manticore this time...

Thinking of this, Hagrid suddenly became nervous, seriously said, ”I must warn you, don’t go after the Manticore, it’s just injured recently, and has just given birth, the most tense time, much more dangerous than usual.”

Kael coughed, then calmly said, ”You misunderstood, I really just wanted to help.”

Speaking, he opened his Transfiguration Lizard Skin Bag and handed a large handful of Dittany to Hagrid.

”Look...”

The roots of the Dittany still had moist soil, it seemed freshly picked, very fresh indeed.

But Hagrid only glanced at it and didn’t take it, ”No need, Kael, Professor Sprout has a lot of Dittany, and there are plenty in the Forbidden Forest as well. There are already enough.”

”Oh, that’s good...” Kael chuckled, putting the Dittany back into his bag, then took out something else,

”Dittany Essence, this stuff works better than Dittany...”

A few minutes later, Kael returned to the table in front of the pumpkin patch.

”What did you talk about just now,” Conna softly asked, ”Why do you seem so disappointed.”

”Nothing, just wanted to help but was rejected,” Kael said somewhat displeasedly, ”and Hagrid even accused me of ill intentions, don’t you think that’s too much.”

”Yes, Hagrid was too much.” Conna said with a smile.

Though unaware of what happened, intuition told her, Hagrid was right.

Of course, that couldn’t be said now.

After getting the answer he wanted, Kael helplessly sighed.

Honestly, he did want to find out the location of the Manticore just now, but Hagrid seemed to have wised up.

Whether it’s Dittany, or Dittany Essence, even the healing agent Newt used for Fire Dragon wounds, he took it all out, but Hagrid didn’t take any.

And no matter what he said, the answers were always the same few sentences...

”Don’t know what you’re talking about...”

”Don’t ask, even if you ask I won’t tell you...”

”Don’t go to the Forbidden Forest, or I’ll tell Professor Sprout!”

What’s going on, why does it feel like Hagrid suddenly got smarter.
