Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 413: Chapter 411: Why Aren’t You Playing by the Rules?

Before coming here, Kael had always believed that Snape’s detention this time was to handle those complicated potion materials, after all, this was the most common detention content in Potion Class.

The materials they used in class, including various gallbladders, caterpillar mucus, snake fangs... were almost all obtained this way.

Unexpectedly, this time he was actually helping to brew a potion... and it was the rarely seen Wolfsbane Potion.

In the Magic Realm, the number of people who can brew this potion can be counted on one hand, and each one is a renowned Potion Master.

Kael raised his head and quickly noticed the meaningful expression on Snape’s face.

This time, he seemed to understand a bit.

Professor Lupin...

Perhaps because of Dumbledore’s request, Snape couldn’t reveal Professor Lupin’s identity as a werewolf, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t give others a hint.

It seems that Snape was really putting in a lot of effort to drive Professor Lupin out of the castle.

Kael guessed he was just waiting for him to ask why he was brewing the Wolfsbane Potion.

As long as he asked, Snape could go along with it and reveal more clues about Professor Lupin’s identity.

This plan...

If it were another student, they might really discover Professor Lupin’s identity as a werewolf under his step-by-step guidance.

Unfortunately...

”Oh, professor you’re truly amazing, even mastering such complex potions.” Kael praised, then continued to grind the lionfish bone powder in his hand, showing no intention of asking why.

Snape seemed a bit surprised, frowning as he stared at Kael, wondering what was on his mind.

Half an hour later, he couldn’t hold his patience any longer and asked seemingly casually:

”Do you know the effects of the Wolfsbane Potion?”

”Oh, I know.” Kael said, ”Previously, Cecily of St Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries told me the Wolfsbane Potion can suppress a werewolf’s curse, allowing them to remain conscious during their transformation on a full moon night.”

Kael’s expression was very calm as he spoke, as if answering a question in class, and after speaking, he closed his mouth, not asking any unnecessary questions.

Now, Snape felt even more uncomfortable.

He didn’t understand why Kael was not at all curious about his act of brewing the Wolfsbane Potion, and how he could remain so calm.

Snape had even thought of what to say next, but he never expected Kael wouldn’t cooperate, causing him to not even take the first step.

But he couldn’t say it too directly, otherwise, it would be hard to explain to Professor Dumbledore.

Looking at Kael who acted as if nothing was wrong, Snape suddenly felt a bit regretful.

If he had known it would be like this, he should have let Kael handle the rat spleens and Nine-Banded Armadillo Gallbladder Juice...

The underground classroom fell into silence once again.

Kael naturally didn’t know what Snape was thinking; he was busy handling the materials while secretly observing Snape’s process of brewing the Wolfsbane Potion.

This was a rare opportunity to witness the brewing process of the Wolfsbane Potion up close, missing it would be a pity.

He had to admit, this potion was indeed very complex; it took a full five hours before Kael, under Snape’s indication, finally placed the last cut leaf of Wolf Poison Grass into the Cauldron.

With the leaves placed into the Cauldron, the potion inside instantly started boiling, and its color gradually changed from its original red-brown to a dark brown.

”Bang!”

At this moment, the door of the underground classroom was suddenly slammed open from the outside.

Malfoy staggered in.

”Give me a reason!”

Snape looked at him with a gloomy expression.

Malfoy’s entrance was so unexpected; Snape was focused on stirring the potion a moment ago, and was startled, almost throwing his wand into the Cauldron.

”Pr-Professor.” Malfoy looked paler than usual, speaking with lingering fear, ”I saw Potter’s head in Hogsmeade... just his head, floating there...”

”Oh?” Snape said coldly, ”Are you saying Potter went to Hogsmeade?”

”It was his head...” Malfoy said instinctively.

”Fool!” Snape glared at him, ”Don’t you know about the Invisibility Cloak?”

The next second, Malfoy stopped trembling; he seemed to have thought of something, and his originally pale face quickly turned red.

”That damn Potter...” Malfoy said in shame and anger, ”He actually dared to play tricks on me!”

”Fool!” Snape glared at him again, ”Come with me, I probably can guess where he’ll appear.”

”As for you...” He turned to Kael, ”Stir the Cauldron counterclockwise three times every ten minutes until smoke the same color as the potion comes out... Do you understand what I said?”

”No problem, Professor.” Kael nodded.

”Very good.”

Saying this, Snape dragged his long black cloak and strode outside.

Malfoy trotted after him.

After they left, Kael immediately took out parchment and a quill, recalling Snape’s actions earlier while writing something down.

Once he filled most of the parchment, Kael folded it up and carefully put it away...

Of course, during this period he didn’t forget the task Snape had given him... stirring the Cauldron.

Now it was already the third ten-minute interval, Kael took out his wand and gently swirled it over the Cauldron, and the potion inside also began to rotate.

After three stirrings, the potion’s color became deeper and its smell more pungent...

Kael didn’t know if this was normal, after all, this potion was only invented in recent years, and even within the Restricted Area’s ”Powerful Potion,” there were no records.

But it should be fine.

Kael carefully sniffed, the smell was almost identical to what had been cleaned out earlier.

”Dong!”

At this moment, a muffled noise suddenly came from next door, it seemed someone had thrown something against the wall.

Right next to the underground classroom was Snape’s office.

Then, in the corridor outside, Professor Lupin’s voice was heard...

”See you next time, Severus... Harry, come with me, I need to talk to you about that thesis on vampires...”

The surroundings quieted again.

A few minutes later, the underground classroom door was opened again, Snape walked in with a face looking as if he’d been forced to swallow a bottle of bitter and astringent gall!

Upon entering, he raised his head and looked at Kael, coldly saying, ”Get out!”

”Alright...”

Though Kael didn’t know what happened, he could tell from Snape’s expression that his mood was awful, and the slightest issue might set him off.

Thus, Kael didn’t hesitate, leaving the underground classroom according to Snape’s instructions.
