Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Professor of Potions and Demon Suppression Potion

Madam Pomfrey is a tall witch, proficient in healing techniques, decoctions, herbs, and other medical therapies.

Rumor has it that St Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries has invited her to join three times, promising her the position of Deputy Head as soon as she agrees.

Yet, Madam Pomfrey resolutely declined, stating she only wants to stay at Hogwarts.

Of course, this is just a rumor, with its authenticity still pending verification. Because neither Madam Pomfrey nor St Mungo’s speaks about it.

They don’t acknowledge it, nor deny it.

This remains one of Hogwarts’ minor unsolved mysteries.

As Kael walked into the hospital wing, Madam Pomfrey happened to pass by and handed a bottle of green potion to the young wizard lying on the bed.

”This is the last bottle of potion for treating boils; remember to apply it, don’t drink anymore.”

After saying this, she swiftly headed to another bed, muttering incessantly: ”Why is it that every year at this time, so many young wizards are sent here!

What are those professors at Hogwarts doing, how come they’re all so irresponsible!”

It was clear she was in a bad mood.

Just as Kael hesitated on how to speak up, Madam Pomfrey glanced over.

”Merlin’s beard, what’s happened to this child!” She quickly ran over, carefully placed Mikel on an empty bed, and asked without turning her head: ”What is it this time, potion? Or Defence Against the Dark Arts? How did he end up fainting!”

”Neither, Madam, it’s Charm Class.”

Kael whispered: ”Mikel cast a Lighting Spell and then... Professor Flitwick said he must have overexerted his magic power.”

”Indeed, it is magic exhaustion... wait, what did you just say?” Madam Pomfrey suddenly turned her head to look at Kael in disbelief: ”Lighting Spell?!!”

Her expression now seemed as though she’d seen Dumbledore pole dancing on the Astronomy Tower.

With disbelief accompanied by absurdity, she clearly didn’t believe Kael’s words.

Young wizards these days are becoming more unreliable; even when lying, one must come up with a plausible reason, right?

Magic exhaustion from casting a Lighting Spell... utterly absurd, why doesn’t he say that Filius was knocked down by a Lighting Spell.

”It’s true, both Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw freshmen saw it, and Professor Flitwick can testify.”

Kael quickly explained and recounted what happened in Charm Class.

After hearing this, Madam Pomfrey’s suspicion diminished significantly.

If freshmen from two houses saw it, the matter would soon spread throughout Hogwarts; if it were a lie, it would easily be exposed, especially since he even mentioned Filius.

Madam Pomfrey turned her head and looked at Mikel as if observing a rare fantastic beast; she had never seen a young wizard with such poor control over their own magic power before.

From the earlier description, that degree of Lighting Spell seemed like a magical outburst caused it.

Powerful but uncontrollable.

But Madam Pomfrey was confident that when checking the young wizard earlier, she didn’t find any signs of a magical outburst, it was simply exhaustion.

”Truly... enlightening.” Madam Pomfrey instinctively sighed.

Kael nodded in agreement, fully understanding Madam Pomfrey’s feelings, for he felt the same.

If casting a charm by wizards were like driving a car, then Mikel’s behavior was akin to flooring the gas pedal to drain the fuel tank and speeding up to 200 kilometers per hour in a second.

Don’t think this is a good thing.

The speed was fast, but it stopped abruptly too.

Luckily it was just a Lighting Spell, if it were Incendio... Kael shivered, vowing to stay far away from Mikel in class.

Stay as far away as possible!

He thought the ”Blasting Genius” entering next year was already outrageous, but this year there’s a ”Forbidden Curse Wizard.”

Hogwarts sure doesn’t harbor idle folks.

A few minutes later, Dumbledore arrived after hearing the news, along with Snape, who was teaching a class.

Madam Pomfrey brought them to Mikel’s bedside, whispered a few words, then stepped aside.

Dumbledore bent over, carefully observing Mikel’s condition, occasionally tapping him with his wand.

After a while, he silently put away his wand, turned, and looked at Kael: ”Good morning, Kael, was it you who brought him to Poppy?”

”Yes, professor.” Kael nodded.

”You did well.” Dumbledore smiled: ”And I heard from Sabrina about the situation; if you hadn’t helped those fallen students up, there might be more than just Mr. Mikel lying here.”

Kael waved his hands repeatedly: ”That’s what I should do, professor, and I wasn’t the only one helping.”

”But you were the first to stand up.” Dumbledore blinked: ”Many senior students, even adult wizards fail to remain calm in a crisis, yet you did, and you did well.

Your bravery and modesty earned Hufflepuff twenty points.”

Perhaps triggered by some keywords, as soon as Dumbledore finished speaking, Snape, who was looking at Mikel, suddenly glanced at Kael.

As though realizing someone was standing there.

But Kael didn’t notice; he was looking at Dumbledore, asking: ”Professor, how is Mikel’s condition, can he continue attending classes?”

”Of course he can.” Dumbledore smiled: ”Although it’s a bit troublesome, it’s not hard to fix, it only needs some Demon Suppression Potion, which our potions professor can soon brew.”

”One day.”

Snape came over, speaking coldly: ”I promise to send it here before Hufflepuff’s potion class tomorrow. But in the meantime, Mr. Chopper, there’s something I must remind you...”

Snape paused, sneering: ”You better tell your friend here to manage his barren brain and wand; frequent magic exhaustion can turn a wizard into a Squib, I assume you know what a Squib is, right,”

”I know, professor!” Kael said.

”Good.”

Snape ignored Kael, turned, and left the hospital wing.

”I think we should go too.” Dumbledore said: ”Mikel needs rest, I suggest you visit him in the afternoon.”
