Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 11: Chapter 11: I’m Not a Weasley, So Why Would I Break School Rules?

With his troubles gone, Cedric suddenly became much more cheerful. He stopped reading and took the initiative to talk to Kael, ”Hello, can I call you Kael?”

”Of course.” Kael nodded, ”Actually, my father works at the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures too, he’s colleagues with your dad.”

”Your father?” Cedric was first stunned, then somewhat uncertainly asked, ”Is it Mr. Chris Chopper?”

”Yes.” Kael said.

Cedric suddenly realized, ”Your surname is Chopper, and you know the Weasley Brothers... Oh, I should have guessed it, we’re neighbors after all!”

With this connection, the relationship between the two quickly became much more familiar, and interacting with each other felt very natural, as if they were old friends who had been acquainted for a long time.

Even though they had never met before today.

”By the way, Kael.” Cedric seemed to remember something, and asked curiously, ”I remember I went to look for you earlier, but you weren’t home. At that time, my dad told me that you’ve been learning from Mr. Scamander since you were very young, and you’ll definitely achieve something great in the future.

Is that true? Have you really been following Mr. Scamander to learn?”

Cedric was extremely curious, after all, that is Scamander.

Although there are many famous people in the British Magical Realm, most of them are only somewhat known within their own countries.

For instance, some textbook authors, novelists who have been awarded the Third Class Order of Merlin, perhaps they have a certain notoriety at Hogwarts, but once they go somewhere else... such as Ilvermorny or Beauxbatons, people wouldn’t know who you are.

Those who can truly become famous throughout the Magic Realm, and have their portrait printed on the Chocolate Frog Card when they’re still alive, are actually just a few.

And Scamander is one of those few.

Being this close to a legendary figure for the first time, Cedric was naturally very curious.

...

On the other side, Kael was looking at Cedric incredulously.

He also looked for me, and I wasn’t home either? That’s just too coincidental.

And Mr. Digory, isn’t he in the same office as Chris? Where did he hear this kind of rumor, how could I have been at Uncle Newt’s place all the time.

Kael rubbed his forehead a bit speechlessly and thought, ”First of all, the idea that I’ll achieve something great in the future is definitely not wrong, but my dad was the student of Newt Scamander, I was merely going there to play.”

Newt is different from Dumbledore, he has very severe social anxiety. He was a bit better when he was younger, although he didn’t like talking, he could make a few friends, battle the Dark Lord, or even take on a few students, guiding them in some knowledge about Fantastic Beasts.

But ever since Grindelwald was locked up in Nimongard Tower, Newt rarely engaged in those social activities, putting all his focus on Fantastic Beasts.

Especially in the last thirty years, he hardly spoke to strangers, and naturally, his social anxiety got more severe.

Do you expect Newt to be like the professors at Hogwarts, teaching a Young Wizard every day, then filling in gaps and correcting assignments?

Impossible.

And Newt also knew very well that his personality wasn’t suited for being a teacher. In his view, whether it’s a professor or a teacher, they should be like Dumbledore.

So Chris was his last nominal student.

In the following decades, although many people had this idea, and some even brought Dumbledore as a mediator, Newt, however, rejected all of them, without exception.

Newt didn’t want to mislead the youth, even if the other party themselves didn’t mind, he couldn’t get over his own conscience.

Originally, Kael went there simply because Chris and Diana were too busy with work and didn’t have time to take care of him. At that time, Newt’s wife, Tina, happened to learn about this and took the initiative to bring Kael over. ℯℯ𝘭.

Helping Chris, while Tina could also find something to do for herself.

Think about it, having a husband who doesn’t like talking and is obsessed with Fantastic Beasts is already quite challenging. If Tina didn’t find something to do for herself, she probably would have gone crazy.

Furthermore, Kael had just turned six at that time, and according to Tina’s experience, it’s the age that people find annoying. Maybe he could help cure Newt’s social anxiety.

When their grandson was this age, he caused Newt quite a headache; he spoke more in one day than he had in the past month.

And in this regard, Kael indeed didn’t let Tina down.

Although he wasn’t a troublesome kid, he had a strong curiosity, plus it was his first time seeing so many kinds of Fantastic Beasts, so he couldn’t help but ask all sorts of questions.

Perhaps because those questions were all related to Fantastic Beasts, Newt, even though he rarely took the initiative to speak, would carefully respond whenever Kael asked.

This way, he ended up speaking more, and he was willingly doing it.

In short, all three of them were very satisfied.

And because of this, despite Chris and Diana being less busy afterward, Kael still went there for a while every year.

...

Of course, Kael didn’t plan on talking to Cedric about these things. After all, he needed to help maintain Newt’s image.

A legendary Master of Fantastic Beasts who lives in seclusion sounds way better than an uncle with social anxiety.

So after a brief explanation, Kael didn’t intend to continue with this topic. Speaking too much might reveal the truth, it’s fine the way it is now.

”By the way, Cedric, how do you think the professors at Hogwarts are? Are they easy to get along with?” Kael naturally shifted his gaze to the book ”Dark Power: Self-defense Guide” by Cedric’s side and said, ”You know it’s my first time going to school, I don’t really know much about this. What if I accidentally make a professor mad, will I get expelled?”

”You don’t have to worry about that at all.”

Cedric said with a smile, without any suspicion, ”The professors are all very nice... well, at least most of them are. And even the... cough, even the strictest professors wouldn’t easily expel a student.

Unless you did something seriously against school rules and regulations.”

When he said the last sentence, Cedric’s expression became very serious, his mouth slightly parted, looking like he wanted to say something but didn’t know how to start.

Seeing this, Kael guessed what he wanted to say, so he quickly waved his hand and said, ”Don’t worry, I don’t have the surname Weasley, so I definitely won’t break school rules.”

Hearing him say this, Cedric finally breathed a sigh of relief, ”Sorry... I didn’t mean that.”

Kael shook his head, ”It’s okay, I understand.”

Since they talked about Hogwarts, Cedric got interested as well, and in the following time he told Kael some more detailed information.

For example, there’s a new Professor of Defence Against the Dark Arts every year, the Professor of Transfiguration Technique who’s obsessed with turning into a cat is the most stern... and most importantly, the Professor of Potions who doesn’t wash his hair loves to deduct points and so on.

Basically, it was almost what Kael already knew, nothing too surprising.
