Unrivaled Miracle Doctor: The God-Defying Demonic Consort

Chapter 296: Chapter 296: Palace Turmoil Rising (Part 8)

”Master Gu.” Mu Qingge suddenly called out.

The silver-haired elder immediately stepped forward.

Her gaze fell upon him and she said calmly, ”I need you to have Prince Xian’s people secretly keep a close eye on the Crown Prince and the Empress, to prevent them from escaping. I want to send them to accompany Yong Huan in the afterlife.”

Mu Qingge’s cold instructions made Master Gu glance at her but he said nothing further.

After nodding, he left with his people.

Shortly after Master Gu left, Qin Jinhao, clad in black armor, arrived with his men.

He rode on his horse, looking at the bloodstains all over the palace gate, unable to hide the shock in his eyes. At this moment, hardly any corpses could be seen, but judging by the bloodstains, a fierce battle must have occurred.

However, Mu Qingge was unharmed, still riding her horse, and not only her, but her subordinates remained unharmed too. Such terrifying combat strength made him feel intense shock and a strong sense of envy and jealousy.

Nevertheless, he felt even more confident about tonight’s affair.

”Qingge, you weren’t hurt, were you? Don’t worry, once I ascend the throne, I will surely seek justice for you today.” Qin Jinhao concealed his inner joy and assured Mu Qingge.

Mu Qingge smiled slightly: ”For the sake of Prince Rui’s great cause, this is nothing.”

This comment seemed to give Qin Jinhao a sense of familiarity, as if this was the attitude Mu Qingge should always have towards him.

He nodded satisfactorily and ordered everyone to charge into the palace.

The night, once peaceful, was abruptly shattered.

The Imperial Palace was in chaos.

Within the Cixiang Palace, the doors were tightly shut.

The Empress Dowager, who should have retired early, was instead sitting on a chair, rubbing Buddha Beads in her hands, mumbling incantations with closed eyes.

In the empty hall, faint noises from outside the palace were heard.

The maid by the Empress Dowager’s side, with a hint of urgency in her expression, asked uneasily, ”Madam, do you not intend to act? Now that Your Majesty is gravely ill, if you continue to remain silent, the heavens might change.”

The Empress Dowager’s face darkened slightly, her hand paused in rubbing the Buddha Beads, she slowly opened her eyes, and spoke with icy severity: ”Let them do as they will. I want to see which of those brothers is better suited to take the throne.”

”But, but the Emperor is still here.” The maid said anxiously.

The Empress Dowager’s eye involuntarily twitched, she pressed her lips together and remained silent.

She’s not stupid; the fact that the Empress prevents anyone from seeing the Emperor can only mean he won’t last much longer. At this moment, if she intervenes, she would likely please neither side.

It might be better to just watch the situation unfold.

No matter who claims the throne, she still remains the Grand Empress Dowager; that fact cannot be changed by anyone.

A piercing sharpness emanated from her eyes.

Her choice truly responded to the old saying, ’There’s no true affection in the imperial family.’

In this deep palace, everyone’s hearts have been twisted, concerned only about themselves and power.

Hearing the determination in the Grand Empress Dowager’s words, the maid could only sigh and silently retreat to one side.

Soon, Cixiang Palace was tightly guarded by heavy troops, preventing anyone from entering or leaving. Not only was Cixiang Palace like this, but other residences of important figures were the same as well.

The Dragon Tooth Guards were exceptionally fierce, entering the Imperial Palace as if it were unoccupied land.

Even though the Empress and the Crown Prince had prepared in advance, they were still shaken by this overwhelming force.

Qin Jinhao followed closely behind Mu Qingge, reaping immense benefit from the situation.

At this point, the chaos in the Imperial Palace had reached its peak. Meanwhile, outside the palace, Mu Xiong and Mu Lianrong quietly left their residences, their whereabouts unknown.
