Unrivaled Miracle Doctor: The God-Defying Demonic Consort

Chapter 169: Chapter 169: Mu Qingge Is Not a Loser (3)

The beasts galloped, the herd roared, as if the earth itself was shaking.

Within the Qinling, there were thoughtless wild beasts, as well as spirit beasts with some intelligence. At this moment, standing on the city walls, the Mu Family Army couldn’t distinguish between which were wild beasts and which were spirit beasts.

All they saw were the frenzied Beast Clan attacking. Those ferocious faces, swift movements, and enormous strength of the Beast Clan were all crazed in their eyes, wanting to break through the walls of Yi City and enter the territory of Qin Country for brutal slaughter.

”Defend——!”

From the city walls, orders continuously rang out.

The already exhausted and famished Mu Family Army barely stood up with strong willpower, numbly holding the almost destroyed weapons in their hands, starting to fight.

The arrows had lost their heads, the bowstrings had snapped, the steel blades had gaps. The cauldrons boiling oil had long run dry, and all the boulders had been thrown down.

Out of ammunition and food, these four characters summed up the predicament of the Mu Family Army at this moment.

And outside the already broken city walls, there was still an innumerable Beast Clan army continuously launching assaults.

”Commander, let’s rush down and fight these beasts to the death!” Next to Mu Xiong, a deputy’s eyes were already filled with tears, seeing his soldiers turn into a mass of bloody flesh under the beast claws, could no longer bear it and shouted at Mu Xiong.

Fight? How to fight?

Mu Xiong tightly pressed his lips, face taut.

What good is being a high rank in the Blue Realm? He still couldn’t withstand the countless Beast Clan. Moreover, the spirit beast ranks amongst the Beast Clan were equivalent to humans. Who could know how many Beast Clan experts were hidden in this endless beast tide?

Once he opened the city gates and led everyone out, there would be only one outcome, the total annihilation of the Mu Family Army, and Qin Country’s peril.

Now, the only thing that could be done was to hold the city walls tightly and resist the Beast Clan’s attack. It’s imperative to send someone to urge the supply of military provisions to replenish strength, in hopes of surviving this catastrophe. Otherwise, these people here faced certain death!

”Messenger!” Mu Xiong suddenly called out.

Immediately, a messenger came, kneeling on one knee before him.

Mu Xiong’s eyes were fixed on the battlefield beneath the city wall continuously battered by the Beast Clan which didn’t move him at all.

He said in a deep voice, ”Send messengers continually, urge the supplies from the rear. If anyone blocks your way, execute them without mercy!” Having said that, he took out his command arrow and tossed it to the messenger.

The messenger immediately withdrew, and soon after, a team of messengers mounted swift horses and hurried towards the nearby Han City.

Han City, the wealthiest city closest to Yi City, was where the Military Governor sent by the court was. Mu Xiong watched the messengers leave, unwilling to believe that the Governor of Han City didn’t understand the interdependence of lips and teeth.

If Yi City fell, how could Han City survive alone?

Placing all hope on the messengers, Mu Xiong returned to the command room with the deputy to discuss strategies to buy time.

However, even a clever housewife can’t cook without rice.

Out of ammunition and food, both physically and mentally exhausted, what method did the Mu Family Army have to buy time under the Beast Clan’s claws, waiting for the military provisions to arrive?

”Two days, we need to hold out for at least two days.” This was the minimum round trip time between Yi City and Han City. If the messengers succeeded on this journey, it would take at least two days to bring back the provisions to Yi City. Mu Xiong stated the time required.

Yet, the generals remained silent.

Two days? Let alone two days, they weren’t sure if they could even hold out for two hours.

A deputy, tearfully, declared, ”Commander, our soldiers have fought for several days, yet they haven’t had a full meal in three days. Their weapons can no longer be used; if this continues, they can only exchange their lives for lives to buy time.”
