Ferocious Boss: Hubby, Let’s Get Married

Chapter 899: Yan Qingsi is too Vicious; She is Not a Nice Lady

“Then her father went to the city and managed to entice the daughter of the Ye family. He abandoned her mother and drove her to her death. Yan Qingsi was adopted into the Yans when she was eight, and it was publicly announced that her mother was the mistress. Yan Qingsi has thus always harbored a grudge in her heart and sought to avenge her mother when she got older. Her methods are…vicious, but she has never done anything to harm Meimei and Tingfeng till now. In fact, she protected Meimei plenty of times before.”

The eldest son was worried about his sister, so the first thing he did after hearing about this Yan Qingsi was to investigate her.

When Grandpa Su heard about this, he released a sigh. Usually, when filtering through potential sons- and daughters-in-law in their family, they did not require them to come from an affluent background, so long as their background was clear. Their personality was more important.

Yan Qingsi, however…was so complicated! Still, this was his daughter’s daughter-in-law, and she was not marrying into the Su family. Even if he said anything, even if he truly disagreed about Yan Qingsi, it was not going to be of much use.

“Ah. I know everything that you’ve just said. The problem now is that these two look so similar that it’s extremely uncanny. It’s not strange for people to have doppelgangers, but don’t you think that it’s too uncanny, the way they look so alike? You also know that Old Xia’s daughter had gotten into an accident before. Now your mother and I are speculating if his daughter had never died in the first place.”

The eldest son’s expression turned grim. “This…doesn’t seem possible though. If Yan Qingsi’s mother was really Auntie Peiwan’s daughter, then there will be a hoo-hah over her birthright, but I had asked someone to conduct an investigation. Never mind. The main focus of the investigation had been Yan Qingsi last time. We did not check on her mother. I’ll get someone to investigate again.”

Grandpa Su nodded his head. “This is the case. It’ll be simpler if Yan Qingsi only looks alike to Peiwan and doesn’t have any relation to her but if…they are related… Your mother and Peiwan have been good friends for years, and she has been depressed over what happened to her daughter all these years. It’s a good thing if we can help her to find her long lost relative.”

The eldest son bobbed his head. “I understand, Dad. I’ll get someone to investigate.”

“Of course, you have to investigate but it might be too late,” Grandpa Su said, “your mother wanted to get some information from Auntie Peiwan, but…she’s being hospitalized right now. She’s not doing too well. That’s why I’m thinking that you have always been in contact with Old Xia’s son over the years—why don’t you ask him instead? He was in his teens when his sister had gotten into that accident. Besides, he cared a lot for his sister. He should remember everything that happened clearly…”

“All right. I understand… I’ll quickly settle this.”

“Go. Go back and rest.”

His eldest son nodded and wheeled around, exiting the study.

Grandpa Su heaved a long sigh when he looked at the photograph. This situation…was giving him a headache.

Grandpa Su was surprised when his companion did not come to find him after sitting in the study for over half an hour. This was not right. She could not be indifferent to this now, could she?

Anxiety clamped over Grandpa Su’s heart. He got out of the study.

He paced the space outside. No one was there. He thought that everyone had gone back to sleep. In the end, he did not have to walk very far before he heard people talking in the distance. He made his way toward the cacophony, and Grandpa Su’s mouth began to twitch at the corners when he saw what was happening. Every single person in the house was here to watch the mahjong game.

Even the oldest two couples—the eldest son and the second son and their wives—who were usually the no-nonsense type, had not left yet.

Su Zhen dug into his pockets. There was no more money there. Panic seized him. A sheen of sweat coated his cold, clammy face. The eyes of his subordinates would pop out of their sockets if they saw this. “Mom, do you have any cash?” he asked, lifting his head. “Lend me some first.”
