I'm Pretending to Cultivate in Kindergarten

Chapter 152: Chapter 134: Stealing the First Kiss

In reality, Xiao Heqing didn’t think too much about it. She just figured that since her man would be the one providing for the family and earning money in the future, she probably wouldn’t be of much help with major household affairs. Since she couldn’t help with the big things, she felt that as a wife, she should at least handle the small things well. She was a born housewife.

She separated the chopsticks for Lin Zhengran, then helped him open the chili oil and other condiments. ”How much chili do you want?”

”Just put it all in.”

”Won’t it be too spicy? It’s bad for your stomach.”

Seeing Lin Zhengran’s questioning look, Xiao Heqing compromised. ”Alright, but you should eat less chili oil. The stuff sold in stores isn’t very good. I’ll carry some high-quality ones with me from now on. If you want some, just use mine.”

Lin Zhengran was speechless.

Han Wenwen also had her mouth hanging open in shock. She never expected her best friend to be so meticulous when taking care of someone.

The Little Fox knew she could never learn to be like this. She knew she was only meticulous when it came to serving Zhengran—like giving massages and rubbing his shoulders—but for everything else, she would forget it even if she tried to learn.

Xiao Heqing asked again, ”What about the sesame paste and other stuff? I can put all of this in.”

After pouring everything in, she stirred the dipping sauce for Lin Zhengran.

He Qing picked up a slice of lotus root and was about to feed it to Lin Zhengran. However, she turned her head, saw Han Wenwen’s scrutinizing gaze, and put it back down with a blush.

She told Lin Zhengran, ”I’ve got it all ready for you... You can eat now.”

If Han Wenwen hadn’t been there, she would have fed him bite by bite.

Fortunately, Lin Zhengran had grown used to her silly behavior since they were young. He reached out and rubbed He Qing’s head. ”Thanks.”

This simple touch made Xiao Heqing smile foolishly with joy. The Little Fox watched them with envy and jealousy.

Seeing Wenwen zoning out, Xiao Heqing asked tentatively, ”Wenwen, why aren’t you eating?”

Han Wenwen deliberately leaned in close and asked in a low voice, ”I don’t know how to eat this either. How about Qingqing open the condiment packets for me too?”

Xiao Heqing let out an embarrassed gasp and whispered, ”He’s right here. Don’t joke around right now, he’ll hear you.”

Han Wenwen clicked her tongue and teased, ”So Qingqing is really only this good to classmate Lin Zhengran?”

”He’s my boyfriend, so of course I treat him differently than others,” Xiao Heqing replied matter-of-factly, keeping her voice low enough so only the two of them could hear. ”Stop teasing me and hurry up and eat.”

Han Wenwen conceded, ”Ah, fine, I’ll stop teasing. So much for sisters before misters~”

Xiao Heqing whispered in retort, ”So what if I choose my mister?”

She had learned this righteous, confident attitude directly from Lin Zhengran. Sitting close to Lin Zhengran, Xiao Heqing thought about how she had missed a kiss earlier. Next time they were alone together... they should be able to do that.

The three of them drank water and ate their hotpot. Halfway through, Lin Zhengran got up to use the restroom.

Seeing that he had finished his water, Xiao Heqing picked up the kettle and refilled his cup. But the moment Lin Zhengran entered the restroom and closed the door, the two best friends unintentionally locked eyes. They looked at each other and stifled a secret laugh.

Xiao Heqing felt embarrassed. ”What? What are you laughing at?”

Han Wenwen asked, ”When I went to the restroom earlier, what were you two doing?”

Xiao Heqing grew shy and covered her face. She knew Wenwen would ask. ”Nothing, really nothing. Since Lili kissed him, I definitely needed him to coax me a little.”

”Lili?” Han Wenwen’s curiosity peaked. ”Didn’t Qingqing always call her Jiang Xueli before? Since when did she become Lili?”

Xiao Heqing sighed. ”I can’t even explain this to you. I don’t even know how to say it. Anyway... you know how much of a playboy Lin Zhengran can be.”

Han Wenwen completely agreed with this, nodding heavily. ”That, I definitely know.”

”Right...” Xiao Heqing picked up her cup and took a sip of water. ”Besides, Lili has known him for so long and is so familiar with us now. Knowing Lin Zhengran’s personality, do you really think he’d let Lili go? What else could I do... He wanted this, and I couldn’t say no to him, so I just had to agree to it.”

”Idiot!” After saying this, Han Wenwen realized she was an idiot too, no different from He Qing.

He Qing stuck out her tongue. ”I am pretty dumb when I’m in front of him. It can’t be helped.”

She thought for a moment, her usually clever brain working in rare overtime. ”But I already thought it through in the restroom earlier. Even if we’re both his girlfriends, there are some things we still have to... fight over a little.”

She leaned close to Han Wenwen’s ear and whispered, ”Lin Zhengran’s first kiss is still intact. I want it.”

”Huh?” Han Wenwen was stunned.

Xiao Heqing blushed. ”What do you mean ’huh’? If I don’t fight for it, Lili will steal it! And it’s not just his first kiss, there are a lot of ’firsts’ that I need to fight for. You can tell from what happened today that Lili isn’t just sitting around waiting anymore. She’s very proactive! Much more proactive than before!”

She thought, ”But I want all of Zhengran’s firsts too.”

In that case...

Han Wenwen said, ”Why does it feel like nothing has changed since junior high? A few years ago, you two were fighting to confess to him, and now you’re fighting for his first kiss?”

Xiao Heqing froze as well. ”I guess you’re right... Oh wait, there is a difference. Back then, Lili and I were just ordinary acquaintances, but now we’re sisters. We have the closest relationship possible. But... sisters or not, how can you negotiate something like this? Who wouldn’t want his first time?”

”What kind of first time? Which first time? Just the first kiss?” Han Wenwen fired off three questions in a row.

”Wenwen! Stop playing dumb, you know exactly what I mean.”

Han Wenwen gave Xiao Heqing a meaningful look and poked her in the belly. ”Over the past two years, I’ve noticed that Qingqing has become a lot more scheming than before.”

”How is this scheming?” Xiao Heqing’s belly tickled from the poke, and she started messing around with Han Wenwen. ”Haha, stop it Wenwen! If you keep doing that, I’m going to fight back. I’ll tickle you too!”

The two best friends tickled each other, laughing heartily. After roughhousing for a while, Xiao Heqing spoke seriously.

”Alright, alright, Wenwen. Let’s drop this topic. Speaking of which, I didn’t even know you had moved out to live on your own. You actually hid it from me until now. If you had told me you were short on cash, I would have given you some. I could have asked my mom for it or earned it myself to help you.”

Han Wenwen had anticipated this and laughed. ”I knew Qingqing would want to help me like that, which is exactly why I didn’t tell you. Besides, aren’t I doing fine now? I’m already slowly starting to earn more money than I can spend. As long as I’m a bit frugal, I’ll have savings. I’ve already gotten past the hardest times.”

Xiao Heqing sighed in admiration. ”You’re really impressive. Even with Lin Zhengran teaching me, I still haven’t earned much money to this day.”

”You’re not impressive? I’m just a video blogger now, but Qingqing is our town’s top scholar!”

”How does that count as impressive? Oh right, seeing those men’s slippers earlier suddenly reminded me of something. Wenwen... have you still not met a guy you like? Are you still not planning to find a boyfriend?”

”Hmm...” Han Wenwen pondered for a moment, then whispered into Xiao Heqing’s ear, ”How about this? Since classmate Lin Zhengran already has the two of you, why don’t I join in too? We can all be his girlfriends together~”

”Oh, stop messing around, Wenwen. You have to find someone you actually like to be your boyfriend. You can’t just join in for the fun of it!”

The two best friends resumed their playful roughhousing, messing around until they were both lying on the floor.

At that moment, Lin Zhengran opened the restroom door and saw He Qing and Han Wenwen lying on the floor, tickling each other.

The three of them stared at each other blankly. The two best friends instantly sat up in embarrassment.

Han Wenwen beamed, while Xiao Heqing covered her face, thinking, ”How did Lin Zhengran catch me acting so mischievously?” She felt too ashamed to face anyone.

After finishing their hotpot, the three of them chatted for a bit longer before Lin Zhengran headed home to grab his things. They agreed to catch a ride to school together later. Naturally, Jiang Xueli had also messaged Lin Zhengran midway to tag along.

That afternoon, when everyone had packed their belongings and gathered at the intersection, the scene before them was exactly as it had been three years ago.

Lin Zhengran, Jiang Xueli, He Qing, and Han Wenwen stood at the crossroads, looking at one another.

However, this time, the tension was most awkward between Jiang Xueli and He Qing. After the two girls exchanged a glance, they grew shy; one immediately looked away, while the other lowered her head in silence.
