Child of Destiny

When Leviathan and his group finally arrived at the Glacial Cave, the majority of their forces were already taken down by Felicia and Felix, who almost streamed roll through everyone blocking their path.

Fortunately, their forces were not that simple either. Right after suffering from the initial ambush, they were able to quickly reorganize their forces and found ways to deal with the troublesome ’singing’ of the opposing side.

They were able to deal with the mental attacks that Felicia’s singing dealt against them, which was making them lose their minds throughout the battle.

Even though they were forced to use their Basic Demonic Transformation in the process, they were still able to hold their ground without encountering many problems.

With the reinforced strength provided by their basic demonic transformation, they were able to defend themselves against the strange attacks from Felicia, which could kill them in an instant if they were not careful.

Provided that they had gained an overall boost in their stats, particularly their defenses, they were at least able to deal with ambushes that Felicia launched at them and buy themselves enough time for the others to arrive and provide assistance.

Even though the songs that Felicia sang could cause them a series of strange alignments throughout the battle, they were still able to take advantage of it once they used some of the innate traits of their demon race.

With all these at hand, they were able to barely hold their ground against Felicia.

Unfortunately, Felicia was never alone. Her twin brother, Felix, was also present, who was constantly providing her with enough assistance when it was needed.

When compared to Felicia’s combat style and techniques, Felix was much easier to deal with since his style and techniques were more straightforward.

The combination of swordsmanship and sound arts that he used looked more like magic swordsmanship when compared to in-game terms.

If there was something that was truly troublesome about him, then it was, without a doubt, his swordsmanship.

Felicia’s style was more of an assassin type of fighting, which fully utilized the mental attacks that her sound arts provided to weaken her enemies or trap them within an illusion before taking them down when they were still under their effects.

However, this did not mean that her swordsmanship was weak. It was just that her sound arts being too powerful that her sword techniques were somewhat overlooked.

But it was indeed quite weak when compared to her twin brother’s swordsmanship.

Felix’s swordsmanship was powerful enough to put him on the same level as other notable swordsmen within the game, which was further strengthened by his sound arts.

The situation had become even more troublesome for the side of the demonic players, putting them in a dire state.

However, they were not too powerless either. They quickly regrouped and reorganized themselves right after realizing that they were at the losing end.

They had also retreated toward the cave, intending to defend it for as long as they could while also waiting for the main force to arrive.

The cave channel was quite narrow, making it easier for them to defend.

With their frontlines holding their ground and their supports providing enough assistance and protecting those at the front with their cleansing and mind-protection spells.

Even if both Felicia and Felix were strong, they were not enough to deal with the opposing side all at once.

Moreover, the other Sweepers that were supposedly scouting the area beyond the cave were also rushing to this place to assist them.

Felicia and Felix knew that their strength alone was not enough to wipe everyone out, so they had no choice but to temporarily retreat, especially when they fully understood that they would be trapped in the cave if they insisted on continuing to entangle with the opposing side.

Their initial ambush was quite good, wiping out quite a lot of teams in the process and dealing enough damage to the opposing ranks.

Unfortunately, it was still far from being enough to fully wipe out the opposing forces.

Even if they rushed straight to the cave while fighting, they were still unable to break through their blockade and reach their destination fully, especially when there were still quite a lot of sweepers beyond the cave.

They would only be trapping themselves if they insisted on continuing at that time.

However, the damage that they had dealt to their forces hurt them quite enough.

…

Leviathan was listening to the reports of his subordinates while looking at a broken wall before him.

This was hiding a secret channel that would lead to an unknown location.

Leviathan had a rough idea where it was leading to, especially when it was this place where Felix and Felicia had run to.

”So, are you telling me that you bunch of trash are unable to trap two people and even let them escape through this secret path?” he asked, squinting his eyes dangerously.

There were two commander-level sweepers before him, who were also the ones who were leading the groups on this side. One of them led the groups guarding the cave from the outside, while the other led the scouts scaling the Glacial Cave map.

The two commanders were ashamed to face Leviathan for failing to keep those two occupied within the cave and buy enough time for the main force to arrive.

They had been caught off guard when those two had suddenly launched another ambush when they were thinking that they had truly left the cave after being repelled earlier.

Leviathan was too tired to scold them, so he just asked the one leading the scouts earlier. ”How is the situation beyond the cave? Have you found anything or anyone suspicious?”

Morroc, who was the field commander of those scouts, was quite confused when he heard this question.

After all, they had been constantly watching over the sole entrance of the map, so no one could sneak inside, especially when there were multiple tools and devices and sensing arrays set up outside that could reveal anyone who was in their stealth.

However, he could not question his superior either, so he still reported their findings. ”We have not found anything suspicious throughout the map, Lord Leviathan.”

”We have also set up multiple arrays to detect anyone who was possibly hiding inside, but we have not found any signs of someone being there, even after scaling throughout the map.”

”Aside from the sealed portal itself, everything seemed to be fine,” he added, making sure that he had never left anything.

Leviathan frowned deeply after hearing the report, but did not ask anything more.

He turned to the other two commander-level sweepers standing behind silently and ordered. ”Leave the second and third unit to guard the cave entrance while the rest follow me to the location of the portal.”

”Are we not going to chase after those two?” asked one of the commander-level sweepers behind him, who had an IGN (in-game name) of Maya.

Leviathan turned to her before answering. ”Those two will go to the location of the portal, anyway, so why are we going to chase after them when they will come to us themselves?”

Maya immediately realized her foolishness and lowered her head.

Leviathan ignored her actions and ordered. ”Let’s go.”

…

Swoosh! Swoosh!

While Leviathan was leading his people toward the sealed portal, Felicia and Felix were currently doing their best to sprint in that direction.

”We may have taken this secret passage, but it will take us quite a while before we exit the cave,” said Felicia heavily before continuing. ”It will already be too late when we exit the cave. Those guys should already be starting to corrupt the portal.”

”We don’t have a choice. If we try to break through earlier by force, then there is a high chance that we will only be trapping ourselves within their ranks,” refuted Felix. ”At that time, we can forget continuing with the quest since they will be capturing us instead.”

”All we can do right now is to run as fast as we can and hope that it will not be too late to stop them,” he added with a solemn tone.

”What about the plan that those from Empyrean Talons are talking about? You said earlier that they should have prepared something to receive those people from the Pandemonium Descendants?” asked Felicia with a frown.

”Don’t tell me that they have abandoned this kingdom altogether?” she added, feeling that this was most likely the case.

Felix, on the other hand, shook his head before saying. ”That should not be the case.”

”If they are trying to think about it, then they should not have been protecting the Oath City,” he added, refuting Felicia’s initial guess.

”However, I am also not sure what they are planning,” he added while trying to recall the earlier events. ”From what we have seen earlier, they seem not to be in the vicinity.”

”They are either still hiding and looking for a good opportunity to enter the map, or they are already inside,” he added. ”Whatever the case, let’s just hope that they will be able to help us deal with this ordeal.”
