Raising Yanderes to save the world

’Why is Kael saying all this? My power...? Corrupted...? There is no way that could be possible.’

Selene denied even the slightest possibility that Kael could be right. She refused to believe that the elves’ sacred power, which she had been so proud to wield, was actually corruption. So, in her eyes, Kael was nothing more than a liar.

And there was only one thing a liar like him deserved—to be set straight.

Kael’s touch was comforting, and Selene almost leaned into it before she pulled herself back and realized that it was time for her to act.

’Don’t let this kid trick us. We are here to guide you on the right path. If you don’t end this child’s life now, then he will bring disaster.’

Selene wanted to give Kael another chance, but unfortunately, she had seen all the destruction and chaos his presence was going to cause in the future.

Her power had made her dream of a future where this world had been destroyed. And the one at the center of that tragedy was the man standing before her.

Kael seemed unaware of what he was going to do in the future, and that made Selene feel sorry for him. But there was nothing to worry about. She was going to help him change the future.

She wanted to convey these feelings calmly, but the words that came out of her mouth were anything but polite.

”Don’t try and trick me, you bastard! Do you think I will fall for your cheap tricks? I am going to kill you and rid the world of a vermin like you.”

’Is that...me? Why do I sound so angry? I need to be gentle with Kael so that he will listen to me-’

Those were Selene’s true feelings, but her senses were not cooperating. Her anger was especially intense, making it hard for her to concentrate.

’My dear child, don’t let your feelings cloud your judgment of what needs to be done. Do not forget what this man will do to this world. So, let us make the choice that will be right for the future.’

The voice of her ancient magic reminded Selene, and she took a sharp breath before she nodded.

She understood what the voice was telling her, but that did not mean she felt comfortable using her powers.

Kael’s eyes were making her feel weak, and she had no idea why he was affecting her this way. Was it because he was treating her with kindness and courtesy?

Such things were hard to come by, and Selene had hardly ever experienced them because of her unique position. That was why her heart felt conflicted.

’My dear child, his destiny is for us to weave. If we don’t interfere and purify him now, then the dark future you saw will come to pass. But I understand that a kind-hearted child like you would find it hard to do what needs to be done-’

The voice consoled Selene, and she felt better to have such an understanding partner. She wanted to show her gratitude when the intention behind that voice suddenly changed, and her body moved on its own.

’-However, we are short on time here. So please do as I say for now and follow my instructions. I will ensure that our future is bright and shining. And the threat known as Kael will be neutralized as well.’

The power inside her burned with a need to be unleashed. Selene had never seen it act like this before, so it shocked her as well.

’What are you doing? Are you going to kill Kael? Please, give me a hint.’

Selene did not know why she felt so desperate to know what her power was about to do. She would have never questioned it before, but this situation forced her to.

She refused to admit why she felt so desperate to save Kael, but she felt like she would regret it if she did not act now.

In the end, the power seeping through her let out a sigh before reaching out to pat her head.

’You are a good and honest child, my dear. But that is exactly why we cannot allow you to continue like this. We have decided to save this world, and if your presence becomes a hindrance, then we will have no choice but to lock you away.’

That was all the warning Selene got before her surroundings changed.

She could tell that she had not left her position at all, but her body was suddenly locked inside a prison with iron bars preventing her from leaving.

She tried to reach for the bars, only to be shocked the moment she touched them.

The high elf’s power that had taken over her body let out a tired sigh and gave her a pity-filled look.

’It is a shame that things have come to this. You are a good and honest child who has always listened to us well. And I am sure you will come back to your senses after enduring this punishment for some time. Hmm, 100 years should be an appropriate sentence.’

Her power told her before leaving her to rot inside the cell.

Selene felt enraged by this treatment, but she also knew that she had brought it upon herself by trying to go against the high elf’s power.

She had no right to question that power, and yet she had dared to do the very thing she had been warned against.

But she could not help it.

Selene was a slave to her instincts, and they had yet to be proven wrong. And this time, her instincts were telling her that Kael was a decent person who deserved a second chance. And that was what she wanted.

But this power of hers seemed to think otherwise, and it was making her feel like she had made a mistake.

Inside, Selene vowed to regain control of her body, but her demeanor on the outside changed in an instant. Her now cold eyes looked at Kael, and he let out a sigh.

”You...are not Selene. Then are you the high elf’s inheritance? Or...are you corruption?”
