Reborn As Noble

Amazarak Fallen Nation.

First dawn.

Vane stood with both hands clasped behind his back, his gaze fixed on Gorak and Jaigar as they prepared to depart. Their party members were busy loading supplies onto two horse-drawn carriages, with soldiers from their continent serving as coachmen. The horses stamped impatiently, their breath misting in the cool morning air.

”Jaigar... Gorak.”

”Y... yes, Sir Vane?”

”Once you arrive at the Elven border, make sure this ’Beggar Jee’ does not heard anything from the silver armor guy. If he hasn’t heard anything about the failed deal or the confrontation, then proceed as planned. Find him, secure his services as a guide, and move toward Armand.”

He paused, his eyes narrowing.

”And ensure that the ’Beggar Jee’ you meet is the real one. The one described by the silver armor guy. A human, always accompanied by a large orange monster bird. If anything seems off, if he acts suspiciously or if the monster bird is missing, abort the mission and report back immediately. Do not engage. Do not take risks. Understood?”

”Understood, Sir Vane.” Gorak and Jaigar nodded stiffly.

”Mm...” Vane nodded slowly. ”And do not cause any trouble before you are able to enter the Elven border. If the guards stop you, show them your documents. If they ask about your business, tell them you are merchants looking for a person named ’Beggar Jee’ . Do not cause havoc or create problems with the guards or anyone else. Gain access first so you can move toward Armand and begin your main mission.”

He glared hard, his voice dropping to a cold, sharp tone.

”I want to hear your first report within a month. If I don’t, I will personally come to find you. And if I have to do that, you won’t like the consequences.”

”Yes, Sir Vane. We understand.” Gorak and Jaigar bowed deeply, their voices trembling slightly.

Gorak and his party climbed into the first carriage, while Jaigar and his party settled into the second. The coachmen snapped the reins, and the horses began to pull the carriages forward, their wheels creaking against the dusty ground.

Vane watched as the carriages slowly departed, his hands clasped behind his back, his expression unreadable.

Three months.

That’s the time Julius gave me to investigate Armand.

But I don’t think I have time for that.

His eyes turned dark, a cold shadow passing over his face.

I hate him. He no longer treats me like he used to. We were friends once, brothers even. But now... he’s become someone I don’t recognize. Arrogant, distant, obsessed with power. He thinks he’s above everyone, even me.

He turned his gaze toward the horizon, his jaw tightening.

I have another mission. A target of my own.

To locate and find this continent’s summoned heroes’ weapons, or any fragments left behind. To power up my weapon, my skills, my experience, and my strength. To prepare for when the time comes.

Because Julius has already changed. He’s no longer the friend I once knew. And when the day comes that he turns against me, I need to be ready.

Just because he has that full divine armor set, that colossal golden divine sword, and that golden tower shield strapped to his back. Just because he can summon countless sacred golden knights with a snap of his fingers, wielding skills none of us possess...

And just because he is favored by our Supreme Goddess...

He has forgotten one important thing.

Our Supreme Goddess assigned all nineteen of us with roles and responsibilities. She appointed me as the strategist, blessed me with the mind to plan invasions, coordinate teams, and ensure our success. I was supposed to be the one leading the planning, the one whose voice mattered when it came to tactics and execution.

And yet that shithead ignores my input, dismisses my plans entirely, and treats me like I’m nothing more than a disposable subordinate. He acts as if my title means nothing, as if my years of loyalty and service count for nothing.

He exhaled slowly, forcing his expression to remain calm as he watched the Amazarak people begin their morning routines. Some were already up, washing their faces in the nearby stream, splashing cold water onto their skin, their breaths misting in the cool dawn air.

He treats Angrar better than me. Angrar, who always mocked me, who always challenged my authority, who never once stood by my side. And yet Julius favors him over me.

I was the one who was always there when he was in trouble back in our old world. When bullies cornered him, I stepped in. When he struggled with his studies, I helped him. When he was lost and uncertain, I guided him. I was his friend, his brother, his anchor.

And now he treats me like a stranger, while Angrar, who did nothing, gets his respect.

He glanced around, his eyes narrowing as he watched his own party members preparing for the day. Fayna, Rasya, Gulia, Deliza, Erlaine... even Falce, who had just joined them.

I can’t trust any of them. Not even Falce. They’re all too loyal to Julius, too captivated by his handsome face, his charm, his overwhelming presence. They respect him more than they respect me. They would choose him over me without hesitation.

He noticed the Amazarak chief finishing washing his face in the distance, drying himself with a cloth.

Vane signaled one of his soldiers, who immediately rushed over and saluted.

”Yes, Sir Vane!”

”Tell the kitchen to prepare the best meal for me in my office. I want enough food for two or three people. I’m feeling hungry today. Ensure the chef cooks the finest meal he can, and tell him it’s for me. I expect it to be served within thirty minutes.”

He paused, his tone calm but firm.

”And tell that man,” he gestured toward the Amazarak chief, ”to meet me in forty minutes. Not too early. I have other matters to attend to first.”

”Yes, Sir Vane!” The soldier saluted again before turning and heading toward the kitchen area.

After the soldier left, Vane stood alone, both hands clasped behind his back, his gaze fixed on the distant horizon. The morning sun cast long shadows across the camp, but his expression remained cold and unreadable.

If Julius treats me like shit, then I don’t care about this plan or invasion anymore. Even if I dedicate myself fully, even if I pour all my effort into ensuring success, he will still ignore everything I do and use his own plan. He will take the credit, and I’ll be left in the shadows, forgotten.

Fine then...

What matters is myself. My own power, my own survival.

I know I’m going to lose the Supreme Goddess’s blessing if I abandon the mission. But once I acquire the fragments of the weapons from the summoned heroes of this continent who have already fallen... losing her blessing won’t matter anymore.

Those weapons were blessed by a different divine power, not bound to the goddesses who summoned us. If I can gather all seven fragments and power up my own weapon, I will have strength that none of the goddess can take away. I will have a chance to carve my own path, my own destiny.
