Reborn As Noble

”Now... let’s eat.” Garius said while lifting his wine glass in a calm toast.

”This is for the success of the surgery.” He glanced at Rolland and Sylvia again. ”Don’t ever make the same mistake again, Rolland, Sylvia.”

”Yes... Your Majesty...” Rolland mumbled softly while Sylvia kept her eyes fixed on her plate.

”Mm...” Garius nodded. ”Let’s eat.”

Everyone reached for their forks and knives and began eating.

Javier slowly drank his wine before reaching for his meal.

Father is really scary, huh?

Even adults like Rolland and Sylvia are being reprimanded as if they were children.

He cut a piece of steak and savored the rich, tender flavor.

Since Gracelle is now awake, her recovery seems promising.

I’ll monitor her condition for a few days. If she shows positive signs of improvement, I’ll plan the next crucial step.

He continued eating, his thoughts sharpening.

I’ll track down the enemy and whoever was involved in causing her suffering. I’ll make sure they pay for what they did to her.

If these people or this organization are left alone, more will suffer, and more will die. They’ve forgotten what an assassin is supposed to be.

Assassins are meant to remove key opposing leaders, military commanders, or religious figures who are seen as irreconcilable threats to the people, those who cause suffering and oppression. They are not meant to inflict prolonged agony or target the innocent.

They’ve forgotten the real purpose of being an assassin. To be a ’necessary evil’, not a source of unnecessary cruelty. A quick, clean death can be seen as a merciful execution, but causing prolonged suffering crosses a moral line into outright sadism.

If they were truly professional assassins who honored their craft, they would understand that their purpose is to eliminate threats efficiently and without unnecessary pain. They would follow the code that separates a disciplined killer from a cruel torturer.

But now, these shitheads have become unprofessional.

They’ve indulged in cruelty, which corrupts their discipline from within. Assassins who enjoy inflicting pain become liabilities, rotting the integrity of their house. They lose sight of their purpose and become nothing more than sadistic thugs.

And I’m sure these shitheads are doing it for money.

According to the information I got from the report before, Rolland, who rules the Mathrias region, is a good and helpful ruler to his own people. He doesn’t force heavy taxes and tries to follow My Father example, even with his limitations.

This means the one who paid these assassins to make Gracelle and her family suffer like this must have a deeper motive, perhaps to destabilize the region, weaken Rolland’s rule, or create chaos to exploit for their own gain.

He paused from his meal and narrowed his eyes.

Or perhaps they have another motive I don’t know yet.

But if they made Gracelle suffer just to destabilize the region or exploit their gain, they won’t be forgiven. Ever.

If they really wanted to take down Rolland and his family to conquer the Mathrias region, they wouldn’t need to wait this long or make her suffer with a curse parasite. There are faster, more direct ways to seize power.

But now they’ve overstepped their bounds, turning cruelty into a tool and targeting the innocent. They’ve lost all honor and discipline.

I’ll crush every last one of these motherfuckers, their assassin house and whoever’s behind this.

So no one will suffer like this ever again.

Garius, who noticed Javier’s silence and his eyes fixed on his meal, his hand unmoving, spoke up.

”Javier De Armand.”

Javier snapped out of his thoughts and glanced up, trying his best to show an innocent smile.

”Yes, Esteemed Father?”

”Eat.” Garius said with his usual stern face.

”Yes... Father...” Javier nodded and continued eating slowly.

Garius reached for his napkin, dabbed his lips, then picked up his wine glass and took a slow sip.

He set the glass down and reached for his fork and knife again.

”You don’t need to worry about that matter. Alf and the Shadow Master already know their location.”

He cut another piece of meat, lifted it to his mouth, and ate it with practiced, noble grace.

”For now, focus on what’s more important. They won’t be able to run far. You know, with your inventions, the Human Kingdom, no matter how big, is small in the eyes of Sky Eyes and the mana satellite, right?”

Javier paused from his meal, smiled faintly, and nodded.

”Yes, Esteemed Father.”

”Mm...” Garius continued eating. ”Focus on Gracelle’s condition and make sure she recovers fully and stays healthy. And don’t forget, Javier.”

”Yes, Father?” Javier mumbled softly.

”Your brother and sister, Aelius and Athine, are getting married soon. I believe in two more days?”

Javier chuckled and smiled. ”Yes, Father.”

”I’m sure they’ll be sad if you don’t attend their wedding, right? Especially since you’re the one who crafted their wedding rings and accessories using their special crystals before.”

Javier nodded. ”Yes, Father.”

”Mm... Now focus on eating and rest. Tomorrow, we’ll be busy. There’s a lot to do, especially the cleanup.”

Garius continued his meal and exhaled.

”I was hoping we could finish all these tasks before tomorrow evening. So instead of thinking about revenge or distractions, it’s better we focus on the important matters. Those thoughts you’ve been having? Let’s set them aside for now.”

Garius put down his fork and knife before glancing at Javier.

”Since that house of assassins is obsessed with dark magic, rushing into things driven by emotion will only lead to mistakes. We don’t want that. Have you forgotten what you’ve been learning for so long?”

Javier mumbled softly. ”Emotions are often unreliable, short-sighted, and biased when faced with complex situations. They cloud judgment and lead to poor decisions.”

”Good.” Garius nodded. ”Now focus on the meal. It’s your favorite, perfectly cooked meat, seasoned just the way you like it. You should be enjoying it, especially since your future wives are the ones who cooked it for you.”

”Mm...” Javier smiled. ”Yes, Esteemed Father.” And, without a sound, he mouthed a silent, ”Thank you.”
