Reborn As Noble

After hours, the sky began to set.

Javier pressed the button on the elevating platform to lower himself back down. Once he reached the ground, he unbuckled the harness and packed away the connectors and gear into his dimensional storage.

When he turned around, Liana and Gloria were already standing there, waiting for him.

”Ah, sorry... I’m late. I was just finishing the last part and checking everything. I have to make sure the mana rocket works, and the mana satellite’s ready to launch soon.”

”What now, young master?” Liana asked, glancing up at the huge mana rocket.

”Hm? We just need to make sure nobody’s nearby when this thing takes off. Even if it doesn’t burn like a normal combustion rocket engine...” Javier paused as Liana tilted her head at him.

”Com...bust...engine?”

”Err... I don’t think I can explain that. But with the magic system, a huge mana crystal for power, and the natural mana converter charging it up, this rocket can fly up and land back here.” Javier slipped on his mana glasses, tapping at the holo keyboard as he checked the system. ”It’ll come back and land in this exact spot, thanks to the magic programming, once the satellite is floating above the first orbit.”

Javier let out a small chuckle. ”Well... if it actually floats. If not, I’ll just have to make do with Sky Eye, and upgrade it to its full potential.”

Javier smiled as he walked with them, the Pekko flock trailing behind.

He took out several rods and began planting them in a circle around the rocket.

”What are those, young master?” Gloria asked, watching as Javier worked.

”Oh, these? Barrier rods. Once activated, they’ll raise a barrier, it work like barrier magic, to block out stray mana, flying debris, and to keep everyone at a safe distance in case anything goes wrong. Even if this mana rocket doesn’t burn like a combustion engine, it’s better to take every precaution. Can’t risk the estate staff getting caught in an accident.”

Javier smiled at them, then tapped his mana talkie. ”Umm... esteemed father?”

”What is it, my son?”

”Can you... um... ask everyone not to come out back for a while? You know, the open area near the hill behind the estate and the barracks?”

”Mmm... so you’re about to launch that thing?”

”Yes, esteemed father.”

”Alright. I’ll tell Alf to inform all the staff.”

”Thank you, father. I’ll send out my scout drone too, just to be sure there’s no one or anything nearby.”

”Good. Now if you’ll excuse me... your mother is rather... busy with me, thanks to ’someone’ preparing everything for the vow of marriage and my wedding with Mylezra.”

Javier rubbed the back of his head with a sheepish grin. ”Ah... if you’ll excuse me then, esteemed father.” He quickly ended the call.

Damn... he’s onto me. Did he figure out I did all this as payback for everything he’s put me through?

Crap...

Javier slid his mana glasses on and tapped the side. With a flick of his finger, several scout drones appeared in the air.

”Command: scout the area for any living presence.”

The drones flew off, and Javier linked them to Sky Eye for a live feed.

”Alright... heat detection shows nothing living nearby. I don’t want any hunters, herb gatherers, or any of our staff, maids, or personnel getting caught up in the launch.”

”Nya! Husband! I want to see through the mana glasses too!” Mimi hugged him, looking up with bright eyes, her tail swaying and her little fang showing as she grinned.

Javier smiled, shaking his head, then handed another pair of mana glasses to Mimi, who snatched them up and put them on right away.

”Wooo! Armand market again!” Mimi giggled, flipping through the Sky Eye live feed and locking onto the Gaze Town market, her tail swishing with excitement.

”I’m going to wait thirty minutes and confirm there’s no risk before launching the rocket,” Javier said, his gaze still fixed on the holo screen in his mana glasses. ”So for now, let’s sit in the safe area with everyone.”

Javier sat at the table, not too far from the mana rocket but within a safe distance, checking his mana glasses and tapping on the mana keyboard.

Liana watched him for a moment, smiling at how focused and serious he looked, then headed back to the manor with Gloria.

Felicia sat beside him, taking the pair of mana glasses Javier handed her and sliding them on.

”Husband-sama?”

”Yes, Felicia?”

”What’s with these strange letters, numbers, and symbols?” she asked, puzzled at the unfamiliar characters.

”Ah, that’s... well, it’s so no one else can copy my work. Since it’s my original magic program, I use a script and structure nobody here understands. Not just to protect the work, but also to make sure that only I or someone I trust an operate or modify it. The code runs in layers, and the system won’t even activate unless the proper sequence is entered. Even if someone tried, they wouldn’t know where to start, or how it even works.”

”So... you’re not going to publish it for everyone?” Felicia tilted her head, gazing at Javier.

Javier smiled and patted her head. ”No... I don’t think I will. Maybe, someday... for our child.”

Felicia went silent. Inside, her thoughts spun.

Our... our... child? Husband mentioned... child...

A faint blush colored her cheeks, but she quickly controlled her expression.

Javier looked up thoughtfully.

”Ah... well, I guess my father could control it if he wanted to. He’s got magic crafting skills too, even if he doesn’t show it often. After that test duel earlier, I was honestly surprised.”

”Danna-sama?” Delya asked, settling on his lap.

”I was amazed by how he handled the golems. At first, I thought it was just summoning, like when I crafted puppet knights, hundreds of them during the mock battle, he countered with his own golems, and every single one was moving under his direct control. Hundreds of them, all parrying my puppet knights at once.”

Javier continued typing on the mana keyboard. ”So, if something ever happened to me... or, well, I don’t know, maybe he’d be able to stop me if things got out of hand. Ah...well..doesn’t matter.”

”Husband?”

”It’s nothing, Felicia. Don’t worry about it.” Javier glanced around. ”Err... where did Liana and Gloria go?”

”They said they went back to the manor to get something from the kitchen for you.”

Javier smiled and kept working.

I really am lucky to have all of them... as my future wives. Especially Liana.
