Reborn As Noble

”Move aside, Buddy, or I’ll cook you for dinner tonight~”

Buddy’s eyes went wide. With an indignant squawk, he shuffled out of the way, shooting Javier a look with smug little smirk lingered on his beak.

”Eek! Buddy! Don’t betray me!” Javier protested.

Liana planted her hands on her hips, eyes narrowing. ”Now, now, young master... What’s with all the flirting this early in the morning, hmm?”

”Ah...no, it’s not what it looks like! I mean... you all were taking forever to get ready, so I thought... maybe if I...”

Before he could finish, Liana swung her leg in a sharp kick. Javier ducked and scrambled back, eyes wide.

”Chill, Liana! I swear, I didn’t mean anything by it! It was Buddy’s idea!”

”Cuquawked!!” Buddy puffed his feathers and glared down at Javier, clearly refusing to take the blame.

”Don’t use your Pekko to cover for you!” Liana grabbed Javier by the collar and started to drag him back toward the house.

”Eek! Liana, I only did it to get you all outside faster! I didn’t mean to flirt, honest!”

”And doing that only makes more girls swoon over you!” Liana scolded, delivering a sharp chop to Javier’s head. ”Next time, don’t try it!”

”Yikes, okay, okay! Sheesh, chill...” Javier muttered, rubbing the sore spot with a sheepish grin.

Gloria stepped outside, drawn by the morning commotion. She adjusted her glasses, voice calm but with a hint of warning.

”Ara~ Liana? What’s going on out here?”

Liana huffed, still holding Javier by the collar. ”Our husband here tried to flirt again.”

”Ara~?” Gloria’s eyes narrowed, an ominous glint flashing behind her usual gentle smile. ”I don’t care how strong you are, young master. But if I still haven’t had my first night, and you try to add more girls to your harem... you know what will happen, right?”

”Eeeekk! I didn’t! I swear! It was just... just so everyone would get ready faster, that’s all! Ehehehe...” Javier gave his best sheepish grin.

Liana let go of his collar with a sigh. ”Next time, don’t even think about it.”

”Alright, alright! Sheesh...” Javier muttered, glancing around as the rest of the girls finally emerged, ready for the journey.

He raised his voice. ”Buddy!”

”Cuquawked!!” Buddy strutted forward, chest puffed out in triumph. Javier climbed up onto his back in one smooth motion.

”Alright, everyone, mount up! Let’s move. I can’t wait to get back to Armand.”

Liana just shook her head and called softly, ”Pikko~”

Her elegant Pekko responded instantly, gliding to her side.

Gloria, meanwhile, gave a short, sharp whistle. Her Pekko, Peanut, its feathers the exact shade of a peanut shell, strode over with an adorable squawk.

”Cuquawked, cuquawked, cuquawked~”

Felicia, Mimi, and Delya’s Pekko fell into step behind Pikko, forming a lively, colorful line.

Javier took one last look at the house.

The place that had been their home through nearly month of conquest and rebuilding. He smiled, memories flickering by: helping Kliatana stabilize the region, overseeing defenses, setting up the mana relay tower, and making sure the locals could finally live in peace. He let out a slow, satisfied breath.

Liana nudged Pikko closer to Buddy, while Gloria guided Peanut to Javier’s other side.

”Young master?”

Javier blinked, glancing at both of them. ”Hm? What is it, Liana... Gloria?”

Liana tilted her head. ”What are you thinking about?”

He smiled softly. ”Nothing, really. Just... everything’s finished. We did it.”

Gloria peered at him, not quite convinced. ”Are you sure?”

Javier nodded, his gaze sweeping over all his girls. ”Yeah. I’m sure.”

He looked out over the quiet morning road. ”We’re going back to Armand now. There’s no need to rush. Let’s take our time today. No full-speed Pekko dash. Let’s enjoy the scenery while we head for the border gate.”

Javier glanced up at the clear blue sky. At this pace, it’ll probably take five or six hours to reach Armand Border Town from Farkam. For once, he was in no hurry.

He straightened in his saddle, then called out, ”Alright, my wives, let’s start moving.”

”Yes, husband,” Felicia replied, her voice calm and bright.

”Nya? Okay, husband-sama!” Mimi chirped, bouncing with excitement.

Delya smiled serenely, eyes soft. ”I will follow you, danna-sama.”

Liana and Gloria shared a knowing look, their voices in perfect sync. ”Yes, young master~”

With gentle nudges, they urged their Pekko forward—Javier in the lead, his future wives forming a lively procession behind him.

The road was busy with Arjam locals, merchants, and farmers, all moving through the peaceful morning. Some smiled warmly at Javier as he passed, others waved with open admiration.

A group of Arjam girls on the roadside broke into shy whispers and excited giggles.

”Ah! Javier-sama!!”

”Kyaa! Handsome Lord-sama!!”

Javier simply smiled and waved back, his demeanor relaxed. A few of the girls actually fainted where they stood, their friends trying to fan them awake.

Gloria and Liana, riding close on either side, both puckered their lips, doing their best to hide their jealousy for now.

Further along, Armand troops stationed along the road snapped to attention, offering crisp salutes as Javier and the girls rode past.

Javier returned the gesture with a wave. Well... I think I’ll visit this place again sometime. If I ever get the chance, or when duty calls.

The group kept riding, their Pekko feathers gleaming in the sunlight, laughter and cheerful banter trailing behind as the Farkam gate drew near.

Javier let out a quiet chuckle.

Liana, riding close, glanced over. ”Young master?”

”Hm? Ah...the laugh?” Javier grinned. ”I was just thinking... that brat Kliatana is finally pregnant with Heres’s child. Heres will be the first among my brothers to have a kid. I wonder what sort of gift I should prepare for their wedding. I’m sure it’ll be right after Father finally marries your... well, Queen Mylezra.”

Liana’s eyes sparkled. ”Yes~”

Javier continued, ”And since Marcellus and Cedric are both planning to get married after Father’s wedding, I wonder if they’ll agree to a joint ceremony. Imagine, everyone exchanging vows at once. Wouldn’t that be something?”

Gloria let out a gentle laugh, Felicia smiled shyly, Mimi and Delya perked up at the thought, and the ride continued, filled with light chatter and the steady rhythm of Pekko claws on the packed road.
