Reborn As Noble

”Summon—White Puppet Knights!”

Javier raised his hand, and five summoning circles flared open in the air around him.

With loud metallic clangs, twenty towering White Puppet Knights dropped from the magic circles, their full plate armor shining. They carried white ore swords and shields, and their eyes glowed with divine light.

”Formation: Line! Shield Up!”

They instantly moved to form a defensive wall between the incoming monsters and the palace gate.

”Charge,” Javier’s voice lowered, sharp and precise.

The puppet knights roared forward, shields raised and swords drawn—cutting through the corrupted beasts like a blade through wet paper.

Javier reloaded his guns with smooth efficiency and rode forward on Buddy, aiming with one hand.

But his sharp eyes weren’t just on the battle in front of him.

If these miasma monsters made it this deep—

His mind raced.

Then what about the people in the town?

He clenched his teeth.

He had the numbers—he could summon thousands more puppet knights, unleash his army, and wipe out the threat in minutes.

But—

This wasn’t Armand.

This was the Beastkin Kingdom.

Summoning an army on foreign soil…

Even if he didn’t mean harm, it could be seen as a threat.

And worse—he had no permission yet.

”Tch…”

He glanced around, blasting another miasma beast mid-leap with his mana gun.

”Hey you!”

He shouted to a beastkin guard nearby, who was slashing through dark tendrils with a heavy curved blade.

”Who’s in charge here!?”

The guard turned, panting, fur singed, blade drenched in black ichor.

”Chief Guard Kinot is in charge! Why?!”

BANG!

Javier shot over the guard’s shoulder, sniping a shadow trying to pounce from behind.

”Where is he!?”

”We don’t know, young noble!” the guard shouted back, swinging again.

”He was on the north perimeter, but it’s chaos out there!”

Javier clicked his tongue.

”And the others? The patrol units?”

”Scattered across town! Trying to protect the civilians!”

His heart sank.

Town. Civilians. Unguarded.

Hundreds—possibly thousands—innocent lives.

He spun to Buddy.

”Buddy!!”

Cuquawk!!

The big orange Pekko was already alert—standing tall, feathers flared.

”Go to the town! Scan for any dark mana monsters attacking civilians! Prioritize rescue.”

Buddy took off in a flash, his powerful legs launching him through the castle gates like a streak of feathers and light.

Javier turned back to the guards, reloading his guns with a fresh white crystal core.

”Damn it... I need permission. I can’t unleash my army or power unless I’m authorized.”

Javier snapped his fingers, and his mana pulsed out in a controlled wave.

”Summon—White Puppet Knights: Crossbow Unit.”

Two white-armored puppet knights materialized beside him, each wielding sleek, white ore-enhanced magic crossbows inscribed with runes that faintly glowed with holy light.

He gave his commands sharply.

”Eliminate enemies. Assist the guards. Priority: Guard coordination.”

The puppets responded in unison, their mechanical voices echoing.

”Affirmative.”

They moved without hesitation, splitting apart to take flanking positions behind cover.

Precise bolts of purified mana flew through the air, pinning dark miasma beasts mid-leap and buying the guards valuable seconds to regroup.

The two original melee puppets fell in behind the ranged units, swords slashing through enemies that broke the guard line.

Javier didn’t stop moving.

With a sudden burst of mana under his boots, he leapt onto the broken outer wall, landing on a raised ledge overlooking the battlefield.

He reached behind his back into his magic storage—

And pulled out a sleek, white ore mana machine gun, reinforced with silver bands and runic vents.

”Alright. Let’s thin this crowd.”

He set his stance, channeling mana into the weapon—

and the runes on its side lit up, humming like a song of war.

”Burst Mode: Engage.”

A stream of rapid-fire mana rounds rained down from above—each shot infused with light-element energy, tearing through the dark miasma creatures without pause.

They collapsed in droves, vaporizing as the purifying bullets hit them, black mist dispersing into the air.

Javier’s cloak billowed behind him, his eyes sharp. Every burst of gunfire was controlled, targeted, and efficient.

He paused briefly to reload, ejecting the glowing mana core with a hiss of heat.

He surveyed the battlefield.

More enemies were coming.

”I can’t hold back forever.”

”Ugh!” Javier clenched his teeth between bursts of mana gunfire.

I want to use White Light here—cleanse the entire area in one shot...

But his eyes swept over the Beastkin guards, the castle watchtowers, and the noble eyes surely watching from the shadows.

Without the king or queen’s permission, it’ll be seen as a threat.

A magic purge this powerful, in foreign territory? They’d think I’m here to conquer.

He exhaled sharply, snapping his aim toward another shadowy beast leaping from the rooftops.

Three bursts. Three headshots.

He spotted a group of young guards pinned behind rubble, desperately fighting off monsters from two directions.

Javier turned to a nearby beastkin warrior—a scarred one with a sturdy posture.

”You there!”

”Huh?!”

”Find the one in charge! Now! My two crossbow puppet knights will clear the way for you!”

The beastkin’s eyes widened but he immediately nodded.

”Right away!!”

He darted forward, and Javier’s two crossbow puppets flanked him, firing precise bolts to carve a safe path through the chaos.

”Flank the guards! Don’t let those monsters break their line!”

”Affirmative.”

The puppets moved in perfect sync, splitting wide and laying down covering fire.

Javier leapt to another perch, landing atop a broken statue at the edge of the courtyard. His machine gun glowed bright again—reloaded with fresh mana.

He swept his gaze over the battlefield—shadow beasts clawing over rooftops, townsfolk panicking in the distance, guards barely holding choke points.

If this were Armand...

He sighed inwardly.

I’d just set up the full grid. Auto-turrets.

We’d clear this in five minutes with zero casualties.

He bit his lip in frustration.

But this isn’t home. I must respect their rules...

Still—he didn’t stop firing.

Meanwhile, Buddy charged toward the town.

Cuquawk!!

A flash of orange feathers and gleaming talons tore through the narrow streets.

His white ore talon weapons, strapped securely to his feet, flashed like twin blades—cutting through dark mana monsters with every bound and spin.

One strike, and a shadow beast crumpled into black mist.

SWIPE!

Another creature was flung into an alley wall, disintegrating on impact.

Cuquawk!!

(”Out of the way!”)

Behind him, a squad of beastkin guards followed closely, eyes wide with disbelief as they watched the massive bird clear a path faster than ten soldiers combined.

”Wha—That Pekko’s trained for battle!?”

”No, that Pekko’s a beast commander!!”

As Buddy darted forward again, his sharp eyes locked onto a scream ahead—a family of three trapped in a collapsed marketplace corner, surrounded by snarling miasma creatures.

Cuquawk!!

He dove forward like a missile.

One monster tried to leap at the mother—Buddy twisted mid-air and slammed it into the ground with a spinning kick, then pecked another hard enough to embed it into a cart wheel.

The children stared up at him, eyes wide in awe and confusion.

”M-Mama, the bird saved us…”

Buddy turned his head sharply toward them—then gently flared his wings, shielding the family with his body while growling at the approaching shadows.

The beastkin guards finally caught up and immediately formed a protective wall, completing the cleanup.

”T-This Pekko’s a hero!”

Cuquawk!!

(”Of course I am!”)

With the family now safe and the area momentarily secure, Buddy turned with a huff and took off down the next street, his feathers flaring with urgency.

Must protect. Must find more. Help Javier.

Cuquawk!!
