The Royal Military Academy's Impostor Owns a Dungeon [BL]

The first day of exams went suspiciously well.

Too well, actually, at least according to the rest of the academy, because the members of DG were quickly becoming synonymous with ”controversial excellence.”

Even Theo, who had attended classes with unwavering diligence, found himself receiving intense scrutiny despite already choosing the worst materials he could justify. For even then, those crappy materials were still leaps and bounds better than wat everyone else used.

Not to mention his meticulous use of spiritual energy, which made it appear as though he had practiced this many times. Because he really did, it was one thing he did daily, and it would be hard to make it look bad when he’s tried so hard to improve his control.

But the exams were done live, and even then, no one could really contest his results. After all, they were the ones who emphasized how being resourceful and lucky were also a part of becoming a pharmacist.

Meanwhile, Princess Kira and Ada found themselves nearly disqualified for simply existing as literal powerhouses. Because hand-to-hand combat with someone who could pulverize reinforced exam bots with their bare hands won’t exactly be fair.

Ultimately, the instructors, after a brief terrified hurdle, hastily decided that the safest course of action would be to let those two ”spar” against each other instead.

And by the time the dust cleared, half the arena was destroyed, and the judge was quietly praying in the corner. He didn’t want to be the one to start an entirely new war. Princess Kira won by a hair. Or maybe by an elbow. No one really saw it.

”This...was supposed to be a mid-level difficulty scenario,” whispered one of the students.

Princess Kira smiled apologetically, flexing her knuckles. ”Ah, my deepest apologies. Next time, we’ll try to be less...enthusiastic?”

Ada solemnly nodded. ”We shall endeavor to cause less property damage.”

They swore. Well, at least they passed.

And if one thinks about it, despite these small hiccups, the atmosphere within DG should have been celebratory, triumphant even.

But when Noah—fresh from achieving an incredible 25-minute record—entered the makeshift classroom in the dungeon-linked space alongside Theo, both immediately froze at the unexpected, heavy silence greeting them.

”Did someone die?” Theo whispered worriedly.

Princess Kira looked up from the intense strategy meeting taking place around the large central table. Her expression was grim.

”Worse. Ollie must face a two-faced bitch—” She paused, reconsidered. ”A two-faced beast tomorrow, I mean.”

But at the center of it all sat Ollie, who was strung so tight it looked like he was in danger of shattering. And yet he met everyone’s eyes, his jaw set in determination.

He wasn’t going to lose tomorrow. He couldn’t.

Everyone didn’t need verbal confirmation; Ollie’s resolve was rather obvious, and Luca vowed to help his brother succeed.

But the price of success was high. And the next morning arrived far too late for a group who had very nearly sacrificed their young lives and ambitions at the hands of their tutor, Luca.

Thankfully, the exam time came. For Ollie, the famed contender, may not have made it intact if that damned exam didn’t start soon.

The bleary-eyed examinee entered the hall mechanically, every step precise, eyes slightly unfocused as his brain replayed historical facts and figures endlessly.

Unfortunately, Lyka intercepted him before he reached his seat. She stood there, radiating a smug aura and wearing a smile that was weaponized to annoy.

Ollie, however, was so deeply entrenched in his mechanical state of intense mental preparation that her words bounced harmlessly off the fortress of his concentration.

The annoyed woman could only narrow her eyes, but realized that any further attempts to provoke him were pointless. Huffing, she stomped back to her own seat.

As the exam officially commenced, tense silence enveloped the hall. Hundreds of holotablets lit up simultaneously, and the atmosphere immediately thickened with dread, despair, and quiet determination.

For most of the students, this exam might as well have been written in ancient runes.

But a select few faced it with calm certainty. Xavier and Kyle, seated far apart but sharing an equally relaxed posture, answered each question with bored efficiency. For them, these historical events weren’t academic exercises, but more like a part of their work that they’d started learning from the moment they could talk. Not to mention how a huge chunk of these were things decided on by their ancestors.

So, within barely half an hour, Xavier calmly stood, drawing astonished glances as he submitted his answers and exited the hall quietly. Kyle followed soon after, yawning as they finally had a moment of rest after all those all-nighters.

Then there was Jax.

Jax didn’t read questions. Jax felt them.

He let the vibe of each option wash over him. A, B, C, D... oh. Definitely C. That one felt right.

In truth, Jax finished first. Effortlessly. But just as he prepared to submit, he hesitated.

Because being the first one to finish was dangerous, being first meant possibly being called out to explain your answers in public, and he simply wasn’t built for that kind of life. So he doodled in the air until his friends finished submitting first.

Meanwhile, Kyle had been expecting a lot of things after the exam ended. There was rest, a decent meal, and his changed relationship with his little mop. But he certainly wasn’t expecting to jumpstart all of it just from overhearing a passing conversation near the cafeteria.

Xavier, Jax, and Kyle had finally been granted a rare reprieve from their relentless duties at the military headquarters. They walked past the bustling cafeteria, relaxed and comfortably oblivious—until the snippets of a conversation between excited upperclassmen reached their ears.

”—How much longer until the freshmen finish their exam? Think we’ll have time to watch the showdown?”

Another student sighed impatiently. ”Exam results won’t be out for ages, but I wouldn’t miss this for the world. I bet half the campus would turn up.”

Kyle initially paid it no attention, content to keep walking.

But then he heard clearly, ”Yeah, Ollie Mylor versus that other mechanic. I can’t believe they’re actually doing this.”

Kyle halted so abruptly that Jax collided gently into his shoulder, blinking slowly in confusion.

Xavier turned his head slightly, eyebrow raised.

”What did you just say?” Kyle quickly approached the group of upperclassmen, ignoring Xavier’s questioning expression. ”Sorry, what kind of showdown are they having?”

One upperclassman stared at him incredulously, eyes wide. ”Wow, aren’t you Kyle Nox? I’m surprised you don’t know! Like you, of all people!”

Kyle felt his stomach twist. He turned sharply, exchanging quick, bewildered glances with Xavier and Jax. Without another word, the three immediately opened their terminals, scrolling through forum threads at lightning speed.

It didn’t take them long to find the hottest, most popular thread:

[Ollie Mylor vs Lyka Vela: The Ultimate Showdown for the Future Lord/Lady Nox]

Kyle felt his heart drop into his stomach.

”What...is this?” he whispered, face hardening as he read the description.

Then the adjutant, who was reading at lightning speed, saw that there were videos.

He clicked play.

And everything went quiet.

The video wasn’t grainy. It was crystal clear. Too clear. It caught the exact moment Ollie stood his ground. The words played again, echoing too perfectly:

”Because he’s mine.”

Gasps. Tension. Luca’s unwavering support. Lyka’s face cracking.

The clip went on, and Kyle couldn’t look away. He couldn’t blink.

Ollie—his Ollie—was standing there with his chest puffed out, eyes gleaming with stubborn determination and emotions so raw that Kyle felt them reach through the screen.

It was too much.

He’d been mentally preparing to start something slow today. After all, they were supposed to start their trial relationship once the exams finished. Heck, handholding would’ve been celebrated as a win.

Instead—this.

A full-blown public declaration.

Kyle closed the terminal. Then reopened it.

Then replayed the clip.

Again.

And again.

He couldn’t stop.

His chest ached. His face felt hot.

He combed his fingers through his hair, mouth slightly parted in disbelief. If he were any weaker, he’d have been crouched on the floor already, tugging at his hair like a lovesick fool.

Fuck.

How could he be so brave? So cute?

Kyle didn’t know if he wanted to kiss Ollie or lock him in a box where no one else could see him ever again. Probably both.

Jax glanced over. ”Man, you good?”

Kyle laughed softly, still stunned. ”No. Absolutely not.”

Because how could he be good when his baby, who only got a 39% during the mock exam, had to go out there to face someone who looked like she came prepared.

The bewildered, lovesick man risked looking at the video again, watching as a certain blonde stood his ground with all the confidence he could possibly gather.

He was probably scared, but the others probably couldn’t tell.

But he could.

Because this was his little sweetheart.

He shook his head, pinching the bridge of his nose as his heart kept overriding his hearing.

Jax leaned in. ”What do we do now? How do you feel about this? You’ve never liked it when this sort of thing happens.”

Kyle didn’t answer immediately. Jax was right; he always hated such scenes. But maybe it was because they weren’t the same blonde who demanded cuddles and hugs while telling him they were just friends.

In short, they just weren’t Ollie.

So instead of annoyance, a smirk tugged at his lips—helpless, full of fondness, and just slightly insane.

”I’m so screwed,” he muttered

Because just how was he supposed to resist falling for someone like that? What kind of saint would he have to be?

He ran both hands through his hair and exhaled loudly.

”How am I feeling...?” He repeated the question for himself.

”Hmm...Like I could die today.” He finally said casually. And it was a total understatement of how he felt right now. But how would he even describe all of it?

”I’m going to him,” Kyle finally said, already turning on his heel.

Xavier and Jax didn’t even try to stop him.

Because really, what was the point?

Kyle was already a goner.

And it was just enough material for Xavier to have, so he could show his wife what it was like when people succumb to this sickness.
