My SSS-Rank Innate skill: Infinite Adaptation core

Nova understood what Liya meant and checked the upgrade price.

[Upgrade to SS Rank]

[Price: 500,000,000 EP]

[Would you like to upgrade it?]

[YES]?[NO]

Nova’s eyes widened as he saw the price. Half a billion Evolution Points!

{It was obvious, as you’re upgrading it to SS Rank. The difference between the ranks is quite significant, so the price is reasonable.}

”I know... But I’m not going to upgrade it now. Let’s wait until I get another quest. I’ll save my Evolution Points for now. I’m not in a hurry.”

”Let’s get back to our next spin before my luck goes to shit again... Use 1,000 Gacha Keys at once!”

With that, Nova initiated his next spin. This time, the wheel rotated for several seconds before finally coming to a stop.

As the notifications ended, Nova couldn’t believe that even after using a thousand Gacha Keys at once, he had received so few rewards.

It looked like his luck was starting to decrease again, as he hadn’t obtained any Luck Stats this time.

{Looks like you’re right. It’s alright, though. You can always try again another time, especially since you’re planning to save your Evolution Points anyway.}

”Hmm, you’re right... I also need to upgrade my class level. I can’t wait for it to grow at this pace. It’s far too slow.”

Nova then checked the price of upgrading his class. It required three hundred million Evolution Points, which was quite expensive.

There were many things he could upgrade, including his class and skills, but he wanted to accumulate more Evolution Points before doing everything at once.

After all, upgrading them was important, but he wasn’t in any immediate rush to do so.

{That was expected, anyway. Why don’t you check the rewards from this spin first? Even if there aren’t many compared to the number of Gacha Keys you’ve spent, they still look pretty good.}

Nova understood her point and decided to focus on his rewards for now. At least the spin hadn’t been a complete waste.

The first reward was a passive skill. It had been a long time since he’d received one, so he was excited to check its description.

As he opened it, a notification appeared before him.

[Unshackled Existence]

[Rank: S+]

The user’s existence becomes increasingly resistant to external restrictions, reducing the effectiveness of abilities that attempt to seal, suppress, weaken, or limit his power. This includes curses, magical seals, suppression fields, and other restrictive effects.

The skill’s effectiveness increases alongside the user’s strength, making it progressively more difficult for others to restrain his power or interfere with his abilities. However, its effectiveness depends on the difference in strength between the user and the source of the restriction.

This was something Nova hadn’t expected to obtain. Now, he wasn’t even sure whether he should still be upset about receiving so few rewards.

{Hehehe... Didn’t I tell you? At least it’s something you were lacking, even if it isn’t anything particularly amazing.}

Nova agreed with Liya. He already possessed all the essential passive skills, while Vitality Nexus, Instinct Dominion, and his other skills were excellent in their own right.

This new skill would further strengthen his defenses.

Although it wouldn’t completely negate every restriction, its effectiveness depended on Nova’s strength. Since he was growing rapidly, he wasn’t particularly worried about its limitations.

Suddenly, something occurred to him, and he spoke up.

”I know I probably shouldn’t ask this, considering only my first seal has been released and this question might be beyond that...”

”But I’ve sometimes wondered how this Gacha system works. Sometimes, I believe everything depends entirely on my luck, while other times, I’m not so sure.”

{Believe me when I say this, darling. It really does depend on your luck. I’m still restricted—or, to be more precise, I don’t have access to the knowledge needed to give you a definite answer.}

{But logically speaking, if it didn’t depend on your luck, wouldn’t it have already given you all the overpowered things this universe has to offer? Why would you need to work so hard to accumulate Evolution Points?}

{And why would it make you spend so many hard-earned Gacha Keys? So, it’s all about your luck, darling.}

Liya spoke as she gently rubbed his cheeks.

After pondering her words, Nova felt that her reasoning made sense. If the Gacha system could simply provide him with anything he wanted, it could make him overwhelmingly powerful without requiring him to work hard.

Yet, it clearly operated according to certain rules.

As Liya had mentioned, this universe had countless restrictions. Those restrictions were also among the reasons seals had been placed on him, concealing knowledge and power he had yet to uncover.

However, looking at things from another perspective, Nova was still growing stronger at an astonishing rate. Sooner or later, he might become powerful enough to challenge some of those very rules.

Still, he wasn’t worried. He would deal with such matters when the time came. There was little point in thinking about the rules governing the universe when he was still far too weak to even begin challenging them.

{Hmm... Good thinking, my husband. Take baby steps, although babies do run sometimes. Hehehe!}

Liya chuckled, making Nova smile before he turned his attention back to his remaining rewards.

Next, Nova saw that he had obtained another two Evolution Stones, along with 2,000 Agility Stats and 1,000 Intelligence Stats. These were pretty good rewards, especially since he had managed to get two Evolution Stones again.

However, the next reward left both him and Liya completely surprised. Neither of them had expected it, and neither had any idea what to make of it.

An unknown egg!

{See... I told you it’s random and can give you anything. And now it’s given you a freaking egg! Hahaha!}

Liya burst into laughter, and Nova had to agree with her. He was surprised, though, as he had no idea why the Gacha system would give him an egg or what he was supposed to do with it.

Was he supposed to raise it until it hatched and then have it call him Mama?

{No, Papa would be more appropriate. Hehehe!}

Liya thoroughly enjoyed teasing him, while Nova Shied before opening the egg’s description.

[Unknown Egg]

[Rank: ???]

[An enigmatic egg whose origin, rank, and true nature cannot be determined through conventional appraisal methods. To establish a bond with it, one must drip their blood onto its surface and nourish it with their own mana every day.

Having remained dormant and deprived of nourishment for an extraordinarily long time, the egg requires a substantial amount of mana to recover its vitality and develop. Once it finally hatches, the individual who established the bond will be recognized as its parent, forming a special connection between them. However, what lies within the egg and its ultimate potential remain a complete mystery.]
