My Goblin System : Levelling up with my SSS Class Devouring skill

Chapter 522: Chapter 522

”I’ll find Kelvin,” he said, already moving

—---------------------

Kelvin was in the eastern construction zone when the runner found him.

He’d taken on Lyra’s administrative coordination naturally over the past few days — not because anyone had formally assigned it to him, but because someone needed to do it and Kelvin understood systems well enough to hold things together. He’d been reviewing the new hobgoblin construction crew’s progress, a clipboard of notes in hand, when the settlement guard appeared with a simple message.

Lord Satou requests you immediately.

He found Satou at the command post, and the first thing he noticed was that something about the demon lord was different. Not urgent-different. Not crisis-different.

Happy-different.

Genuinely, unreservedly happy, in a way Kelvin had seen rarely since the war ended.

”Lord Satou,” he said. ”What’s happened?”

”I need the entire settlement gathered,” Satou said. ”Memorial field. Two hours from now. Everyone who can walk — all eight hundred twenty-three residents, all the named refugees, Vessa’s warriors, everyone. Full assembly.”

Kelvin’s eyebrows rose. ”That’s... is everything alright?”

Satou looked at him. And then — unusually, for someone who kept most things behind careful composure — he smiled. ”Yes, Kelvin. Everything is very alright.”

Kelvin stared at him for a moment.

Then something shifted in the young goblin’s face — recognition, and then a grin he couldn’t entirely contain. ”Is this — is it good news? The kind of actually good news?”

”The best kind,” Satou confirmed.

Kelvin’s grin spread completely. ”I’ll have everyone assembled in ninety minutes.”

He turned and left at a pace that was almost running, already thinking about how to coordinate a thousand-person gathering on short notice. Behind him, Satou heard him starting to call instructions before he’d even cleared the doorway.

Good. Kelvin always delivered.

—-----------------

Next was the communication stone.

Satou pressed his mana into it and requested a relay through Morgana — the fastest route to both Seraphina and Loki simultaneously.

Morgana’s response came back within minutes, warm and unsurprised. Of course, Lord Satou. Who shall I reach first?

Both. Please tell them — Lyra is pregnant. I’m holding a feast tonight for the settlement. I’d be honored if they joined us.

A pause. Then, from Morgana: I will deliver the message personally. Give me thirty minutes.

=============

[SERAPHINA’S TERRITORY]

Seraphina was in her war chamber reviewing reports on Chronus’s eastern movements when Morgana’s message construct found her.

The construct was a small thing — blue-silver light, the size of a fist, carrying Morgana’s voice and Satou’s words.

She listened.

Then she sat very still for approximately three seconds.

Then she stood up, smoothed her robes, and turned to her senior aide with the expression of someone executing a command decision. ”Clear my evening schedule. All of it.”

”Lady Seraphina, the Chronus border—”

”Reinforce it with Kael’mora’s unit. She’s capable.” Seraphina was already moving toward her transit chamber. ”I have somewhere to be.”

She stopped at the doorway and looked back at the aide, and despite everything — the centuries of composure, the careful management of her own expression — she was smiling.

”Lord Satou’s first wife is expecting a child,” she said simply. ”I will not miss that celebration.”

She stepped through the portal before the aide could respond.

[LOKI’S TERRITORY]

Loki received the message while sparring.

He stopped mid-combination, his training partner nearly stumbling from the sudden change in momentum, and held completely still while Morgana’s construct finished speaking.

Then he let out a sound that was somewhere between a laugh and a victory shout, startling everyone in the training yard.

”FINALLY,” he announced to no one in particular.

His captain of guard looked at him carefully. ”My lord?”

”Prepare a portal to Satou’s settlement.” Loki was already heading toward his chambers, his stride carrying the energy of someone with somewhere to be immediately. ”And find me something appropriate to bring as a gift. Something significant. This is not an ordinary occasion.”

”What occasion is it, my lord?”

Loki glanced back, and his expression was pure, unguarded delight.

”My friend wife is pregant”

[MEMORIAL FIELD - TWO HOURS LATER]

Kelvin had delivered.

All one thousand and sixty settlement residents filled the memorial field — hobgoblins and high orcs and serpentfolk and demons, the newly named refugees mixing with the veteran survivors, construction workers with tool dust still on their hands, warriors who’d come directly from training, healers from Jessica’s medical station, children riding on parents’ shoulders for a better view.

The five hundred fifty-nine memorial markers still stood at the field’s edge — permanent now, carved properly rather than hastily made. They framed the gathering rather than overshadowing it.

Satou stood on the platform.

The crowd was buzzing with speculation — a full assembly with no stated reason had generated every possible theory, most of them anxious. The settlement had been through enough that people’s first instinct when gathered unexpectedly was concern.\

He let them settle, then raised his hand.

Quiet fell quickly. It always did when Satou asked for it.

”I’m not going to keep you waiting long,” he said. ”I know unexpected assemblies make people nervous. This isn’t bad news.”

The collective tension dropped several degrees immediately.

”Some of you lost people in the war,” Satou continued, his voice carrying across the field. ”Some of you lost everything — your homes, your settlements, people you loved — before you even reached us. We’ve spent weeks in grief and rebuilding and hard work, and I don’t want to skip over any of that. It mattered. It still matters.”

He paused.

”But I also believe that new beginnings deserve to be celebrated. That after loss, life continuing is worth marking properly.”

The crowd was completely still now.

”Lyra is pregnant.”

The silence held for exactly one second.

Then it broke.

The sound that erupted from a thousand voices simultaneously was something between a roar and a cheer and something wordless that had no specific language — just the raw sound of people who had survived terrible things expressing genuine, uncomplicated joy at something good.

Hobgoblins bellowed. Orcs raised their fists. Serpentfolk’s scales rippled with rapid color changes that meant excitement in their body language. Demons let loose bursts of celebratory magic that lit the air in various colors. The newer refugees cheered louder than anyone celebrating .
